The Islamic Center of Raleigh

Linda Keay in FrontPage details some disquieting information about the Islamic Center of Raleigh, NC:

The Islamic Center of Raleigh held an open house last month, shortly after former University of North Carolina student Mohammed Taheri-azar slammed his SUV into students in revenge for, in his stated motive, the mistreatment of Muslims by America.

Although the Islamic center’s spokesman denied it, the open house was undoubtedly an attempt to improve the image of Islam in the aftermath of the campus violence. Thus in a television interview, the center’s spokesman, Hani Chohan, complained of Taheri-azar's attack that “[t]here was a lot of negativity around it. . . .We wanted to turn that into a positive and create a forum where people could come in and ask questions.”

To reinforce the point, the same television report highlighted a Christian couple who came to the open house for “understanding and dialogue,” saying that they did not know enough about Islam and wanted to be educated. And the center’s Imam, Mohamed Baianonie, expressed his wish that the message of Islam be portrayed as “the right message, peaceful message for all mankind.”

But the center’s youth director, Hisham Sarsour, has a different message. A former president of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) who was born in Jerusalem and educated at Columbia University, University of Wisconsin and the University of Southern California, Sarsour has a long record of making religiously divisive and anti-American statements.

According to a recording made available by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, Sarsour stated at the 7th-annual MSA West Conference in January 2005: “The failure in Iraq that we see is good for the world and good for the American people and good for the Muslims.” In fact, Sarsour expressed this theme twice, another version being, “From my perspective, the death of this government in Iraq is good for Muslim ummah, is good for the American people, is good for the world” (Ummah is a global family or body of Muslims.)

At the same conference, Sarsour argued that American efforts to support freedom in Iraq are “dumb.” Sarsour also stated that when the U.S. engages in surveillance and when Muslims are taken into custody, “[a] Christian public is very accepting of this,” so much so that persecution of Muslims is the “new religion of America.”

Far more charitable is Sarsour's view of terrorism -- particularly when it is directed against Israel and the United States. For example, Sarsour disapproves of the term “terrorist” for Palestinian suicide bombers. Instead, as Sarsour sees it, those Palestinians who fight against Israel are fighting “terrorists." As for the terrorists in Iraq, Sarsour seems to regard them as brave patriots guilty of nothing more than defending their homeland. He asks rhetorically, “What is a terrorist? How can we fight terrorism? If Iraq is defending its own country, its own people, its own being, its own heart, is this a terrorist?”

Currently, Sarsour serves as a consultant in his field of nuclear engineering, attending other kinds of conferences, such as a nuclear power reactor simulation symposium in Ontario, Canada in 2002.

Another individual who has worshipped at the Islamic Center of Raleigh is Magdy Mahmoud Mustafa el-Nashar, a suspect in the July 2005 London subway bombings. He was a chemical engineering graduate student at the University of North Carolina in the spring of 2000. (He returned to London after a semester.) Triacetone triperoxide (TATP), the chemical found in Richard Reid’s shoes, was found in his Leeds apartment in England.

After the London bombings, el-Nashar was arrested in Cairo. He was released last August for what Egyptian officials called “lack of evidence.” Sarsour confirmed el-Nashar’s attendance at the Islamic Center of Raleigh in 2000, but claimed that he had no close interactions with him, saying el-Nashar didn’t stand out and spoke mainly to other Egyptians.

Even so, the fact that both Sarsour and el-Nashar have called the Islamic Center of Raleigh home hardly supports the claim that its version of Islam is really the “peaceful message for all mankind." On the contrary, the center seems to welcome exactly the kind of hatred that drove Taheri-azar to his brutal attack. It will take a lot more than a few empty platitudes and an open house to dispel this image.

Their attitude is so irresponsible and childlike.

It's as if the middle-east got the internet in 1995 and for the first time saw how far the rest of the world has come and could not come to grips with why thier homelands are such backwards dirtheaps. So they went all mental and blamed the West. They come up with every excuse except for the one element of their culture that has lead to 1400 years of depostic authoritarian rule.

And then they want everything modern handed to them like they deserve it and don't have to work for it.

They are global welfare mothers.

Come to think of it, Islam is a HUGE drain on the global economy. Think not only of the loss in property, people and to financial markets caused by jihadi attacks but of the time and energy 1.3 billion people waste praying to a tyrannical deity ALLAH five times a day, the constant, nagging fear of the Hellfire which Allah can dump you in for the most trivial reasons.. The complete lack of scientific or entrepreneurial innovations from the muslim world is proof enough of the decadent, 7th Century mentality. And the fools still believe in the superiority of their moribund system. In Britain for example pakis hog all the welfare benefits and produce nothing remarkable except for suicide bombings while we Indians are pretty much near the top in all indicators - we're the same people, mind you - except for their adherence to The Religion Of Peace And Tolerance.

I'll have my taqqiya on the rocks.

And anyway here we go again: Violence, Muslim clerics tell us for the umpteen-millionth time, is not permissible against non-Muslims except when they decide that it is and that is most of the time (but they'll never admit to that so they try to trap you into endless, circular, meaningless discourse like the propaganda coming out of this NC Islamic Center (this article provides us with a perfect example of Islamic propaganda) that amounts to little more than smoke and mirrors to divert our attention while they continue to plot more mass human sacrifices of our people on our soil in the name of marduk aka baal aka sin aka al-lah).....

The world must wake up to the reality that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Islam and that Islam's' 14 centuries of jihadist wars render Muslims' claims of their 'religion' being "peaceful" entirely fictional. And they know it, too!!! The hell with what they tell us--it means butkus.

These people KNOW they are lying to us. We know it. So let's just cut the crap and force these killer-zombie/idiots to get out of America once and for all.

Hmmm...persecution of muslims is the new Religion of America.

I think that's a stupid remark seeing as we've yet to begin to fight them in America.

If our government doesn't put a stop to their immigration to our country and sending their young to our colleges, it probably will come to that. Our government needs to close all mosques and start deporting muslims. Of course we need to get some lawmakers with some backbone.

We've seen terrorism on our land ever since 9/11. Chapel Hill, Chandler, AZ., and probably countless others that the government refuses to identify as terrorism.

There is a reason we bear arms.

Once again, Islam is as Islam does.

"Islam is as Islam does."

Wow! If only someone would reply to Islam this way in the media. I mean, how do you respond to this simple "Forrest Gump-like" statement? Truly, Islam IS as it does.

The only Koran I need to read is the Koran that its proponents clearly display from day-to-day. I love it. Please don't mind me if I use this from time to time.

Said the spider to the fly.

Chinubhai states:

" In Britain for example pakis hog all the welfare benefits and produce nothing remarkable except for suicide bombings while we Indians are pretty much near the top in all indicators - we're the same people, mind you - except for their adherence to The Religion Of Peace And Tolerance."

I think he's provided 'the proof' here.

This needs to be stated over and over and over in venues private and public. If we had these statistics in an easy to digest format we could demonstrate that the curse of Allah is indeed real, although the exact opposite of what the Believers take this to mean.

Pakistanis and Indians are genetically the same, but are twins separated from birth. (1947) One is worthless by societal standards, the other excels. A real world example of how culture trumps genetics.... How people can be damaged or elevated by the 'script' and by culture and beliefs.

Jekyll & Hyde

This can't be minimized or excused or dismissed, really. Someone needs to put together the case, with British government statistics, and put it out there as many times as possible. It is a proof that Islam is at the root of dysfunction and this proof can't be construed as racial.

Indians and Pakistanis are pretty much the same stock. Indian stock keeps increasing in value. Pakistani stock does not.

Sarsour also stated that when the U.S. engages in surveillance and when Muslims are taken into custody, “[a] Christian public is very accepting of this,” so much so that persecution of Muslims is the “new religion of America.”

Not yet, Sarsour, but I haven't given up hope.

My drafting teacher in high school used to have a sign on the wall of the classroom.

"Don't feel bad if you think you don't have a place in life.
Someone always has to serve as a bad example.
"

See? Mohammedans have a use after all!

The American Public needs to understand the difference between prosecution of the war against worldwide jihad and the persecution of a minority.

Islam flatly contradicts both the letter and the spirit of the American Constitution. Recognition of the rights of individuals, which is at the heart of both the Bill of Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is unimportant in Islam, a belief-system centered on the umma, the Community, the collective. Individuals do not have rights: they do not have the right to free exercise of conscience, for they must never leave the Army of Islam. They may not engage, they are discouraged from engaging, in free and skeptical inquiry. They are not allowed to write or speak as they wish if such writing or speaking is deemed inimical to Islam. In Islam, there is a clear distinction between Believer and Infidel, and on that distinction, that permanent hostility which the former must not only feel toward the latter, but also has a religious duty to act upon that feeling in ways that promote the Jihad, and the humilation, degradation, and physical insecurity of the Infidel.

While there will always be the terminally innocent, the kind who think that the best way to "find out about Islam" is to listen to what some Muslim spokesman or group attempts to convince them Islam is all about, in direct contradiction of the texts of Qur'an and Hadith, and of the entire history of Jihad-conquest and subjugation of Infidels, there are, every day, fewer and fewer people willing to tolerate the nonsense and transparent lies, whether at some phony "Dialgoue" or at some "Mosque Outreach" program designed to divert attention from some Muslim outrage, whether at The Pit at the University at Chapel Hill, or abroad, where Copts may be killed, Christian girls decapitated in Indonesia, Buddhist villagers killed in similar fashion in Thailand, Jewish children blown up in Israel, and Hindus beaten to death in Bangladesh by crowds exciting from Friday Prayers, and demonstrating their Muslim enthusaism in the only way they know how.

The evidence piles up, and piles up, and piles up. Not everyone is a fool. The disconnect between what Islam clearly teaches and what it is clearly taken by many Muslims to mean, and what some are still trying to convince us it really does mean, takes us back to "Islam for Infidels" which, if you have not read, you might wish at this point to google, pull up, and read:
the Muslim answer to all Infidels shocked by the latest outrage (or perhaps no longer shocked at all): Who are you going to believe -- me, or your lying eyes?

It isn't working. Not any longer.

"Far more charitable is Sarsour's view of terrorism -- particularly when it is directed against Israel and the United States. -- from the article above

So Hisham Sarsour, who is in the business of defending, by claiming they are not terrorists, those whom the rest of us would have no trouble defining as terrorists, was "born in Jerusalem," somehow allowed into this country, and then somehow allowed to study "nuclear engineering," a subject inwhich he is a "consultant" and attends "other kinds of conferences, such as a nuclear power reactor simulation symposium" etc.

Is the government, are the universities, nuts? Take his statements, and see if they do not amount to lending "support for terrorism." Then start deportation proceedings -- and if he is by now an American citizen, see if those statements show clearly an intent and a worldview incompatible with what he had to swear at his naturalization proceedings. And certainly he should be limited in the field he apparently chose to specialize in -- that of "nuclear engineering."

No more of this nonsense.

From the same article:

"Another individual who has worshipped at the Islamic Center of Raleigh is Magdy Mahmoud Mustafa el-Nashar, a suspect in the July 2005 London subway bombings. Nor of this. What are these people doing in the Western world? Why are they allowed to acquire the kind of knowledge that A. Q. Khan received in Germany and Holland, or that Dr. Anthrax, and Dr. Germs, those females enjoying the right to education that the "secular" Ba'athist regime permitted, by studying how to better kill Infidels, and learning their subject from the Infidels themselves, for both studied in Great Britain.

Stop this. Stop it any way it can be stopped.

Pickpockets always use diversionary tactics to send the victims attention to the wrong object.

Liars will tell you that they are being lied about.

Muslims want to turn the Earth into a neo-Auschwitz with a new slogan:

Islam Mach Frie.

(Submission liberates.)

The naive among us are hooked like carp by this wormy taqiyya.

But eventually, even carp start to notice that something is happening to their numbers.

And begin to scorn the hooks.

l just came back from a local dog show, talking to two middle aged educated women, both thought jihad watch and Robert Spence had it all wrong..one said she read the Koran, and it does notstate women to cover their head, but used another word. any how l pointed out several things, and they said well other relgions were blah blah. and mentioned TimothyMcViegh and Jim Jones.. l was just flabbergasted at their simple refusal to really think and know what they read. they just lump all relgions together and even with all the evidence l showed them could not confront the evil in islam. l
told them they were so PC, l was like the kid point ing to the Emperor that he wore no clothes.. as everyone around him could not percieve it! l asked what was not true that Robert said, they could not tell me, but that they read about him in other publications.. not even his own words! l will see her again, and lend her my 2nd book of Robert PIG to Islam and the Crusades! dont know if they will read it!

Lulu-

All you needed to say to the ladies is that Islam considers dogs unclean. And that their mere touch renders things unholy.

You have to aim at the target with the right arrow.

Hit people where they care.

(And I don't mean C.A.I.R.)

My pooches would sooner chew a Koran than a Nyla-bone.

I could've written your post verbatim. My father was in the Pacific in WWII while my Grandfather was in Europe. The latter's second war there. I did my little time, too. No one ever gave my father anything, he worked. Only people who ever gave me anything were my parents. Neither of us would have it any other way. Friggin' mo's wouldn't know work if you wrote a book about it and beat them over the head with it. Same with oppression or 'mistreatment'. Fear is the response to the aforementioned conditions, not the ubiquitous anger mohammedans exhibit every time they don't get their way.
Friggin' spoiled brats.
G.d help 'em if individuals come into power who see things the way some of us less left-leaning do.
They ain't seen nothing yet.

PS-How thick does one have to be to not see a problem with an entire culture that hates dogs?

I went to this "open house" since I hang on this blog occasionaly and I have never been to a mosque before and was curious. The feeling that you where in a cult was overwhelming. I wrote the following signed letter to the Raleigh News and Observer and it was not printed.

================================================

Here is what I learned when I visited the Islamic Association of Raleigh center during their "Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet" exhibit last Saturday.

At the "Womens' Rights" display booth I asked the hostess if she thought that it was morally correct for the 50+ year old Muhammad to marry
(and consummate) with a 9 year old girl as it is documented.
She responded that since the 9 year old child had allegedly started menstruation it was indeed moral. When I asked if marriage to a menstruating 9 YO should be allowed in today's United States, she said "Yes, if she is of the age of menstruating" since it is permitted in the Koran.

Since I knew I was now talking to a true (and honest) supporter of Islam, I asked her if it was her wish that America become a Muslim based country and that Sharia law be implemented. For our readers, Sharia law is the Koranic inspired law that brings us such "justice" as stonings for female adulterers, death sentences for homosexuals, beheadings, the burka, and a host of other atrocities inspired from the 7th century. Her answer was a simple "Yes".

Where else better than a nicely wooded section of inside-the-beltline Raleigh would I go and discover the harmonious "moderate Muslim". Instead, to my greatest fear, what I found was strict adherence to a 1,400 year old belief system .Even when faced with the choice of reformation or pedophilia, "moderate Islam" apparently chooses pedophilia.

Finally, call me an Islamophobe if you wish, but I take the position that Islamic sharia law is so diametrically opposed to western democracy that anybody working to establish sharia law in the United States should be considered an enemy of the state.

------

Note to the N&O. My 10+ minute conversation with this lady was in the open and listened to by at least one other female visitor for the entire context. I'm confident that if you talked to this Muslim hostess, she would proudly repeat her beliefs. She had on a sage green sara and veil. She was in her late-30's or so and she mentioned she had a 13 yo daughter. She was hosting that
booth during the time I was there from 2-3pm.

=====================================================

About a week after the event (and 4 days AFTER I sent them my letter) the N&O printed a story about the open house with the normal MSM dhimmi mis-information.

(Sorry folks, for some strange reason I cannot find this in N&O archive)

With many column inches of praise for the prophet there came this blurb.

Others were not quite as gracious. They had difficult questions to ask and they wasted no time. "Did the Prophet Muhammad actually marry 9-year-old Aisha?"

Well what was the response from the Muslims?
We'll never know from the N&O because they didn't answer their own question. Just left in hanging there like an idiot.

This prompted me to write this followup letter to the N&O...

==============================

From your article yesterday.....

Others were not quite as gracious. They had difficult questions to ask and they wasted no time."Did the Prophet Muhammad actually marry 9-year-old Aisha?"

Well, N&O, do tell us, what was their response !?!?!?!

I attach my letter below to what they told me about the man "beyond reproach".

If this position was held by any other religious organization in Raleigh you'd have 2" headlines on the front page.

Why does Islam get a free pass?

A free press would be the first head to roll if Sharia was the law. Can you not understand that?

========================================
Oh well there is my encounter with the dark side of moderate Islam and the MSM.

I had another interesting talk at this open house with a guy hosting another booth labeled "history" or something. (This episode was too long to enclose with my original letter to the N&O)

I asked him why after 200+ years of the world growing increasingly democratic why there are no Islamic democracies. His answer was "because there are no truly pure Koranic Islamic counties ... yet".

I followed with "So you're saying that as a country becomes more "purely" Islamic, it will become democratic?"

He said "Yep".

"Hmmm" I said. "do you think the average American would agree that the way to make the Middle East democratic would be to have a more "pure" form of Islam?"

He glared at me for a few seconds and motioned for some leader to come over. At that point I soon had my personal space enclosed by three Muslims asking questions of why I was there. Within another minute or so (and with me hardly saying a word) their voices were elevated and making comments such as...

1) President Bush was a terrorist
2) US Soldiers are killing innocent people in Iraq
3) Islam is the ultimate religion

At that point I said "I'm outta here" and while I walked to my car I did at least a half-dozen looks over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't going to get jihaded.

Lulu - it is a miserable but true fact that all that moral equivalence crap is to be found right here among jihadwatch readers. Just ask the likes of ExpatriateDK or KJ. As far as they are concerned there is no difference between Islam and Christianity (though in the case of the strange troll Peter Buddhism, apparently, gets a free pass).

I've already had a glimpse of what Islamo-America would be like if "they" had their way.
Working with an Islamic woman, I was lied about by her all over the work place. People running to me to tell me what she said. Her response? Since I was not Islamic "allah" says it is okay for her to do that.
Stealing from me. That, too, is good with Allah. I had a little dhimmi tax extracted.
Let me save some time here, everything she did to me, which I could go on for pages about, was okay.
When I complained I was told that I had to respect her religion.
When she was collecting alms for the Holy Land, while working, in the store, I accused her of aiding the Palestinians to blow up Israelis - which she admitted. She also had knowledge pre-911 of the attack. When I passed this along to the management they looked at me as if I had lost it. Everyone knew that America would never be attacked.
I'd like to hear about other experiences that people have had. Is thee a pattern?
Get these people out of Americ. Even when naturalized they are not American.
