Afghans continuing Dublin protest: Hunger strikers in St Patrick's Cathedral

Why so many Westerners, such as the befogged members of "Residents Against Racism," seem to assume that anyone and everyone has a natural right to immigrate to the Western country of his choice is beyond me. It is also beyond me why officials in Western countries evaluate immigration applications with virtually no attention to the questions of whether the applicant poses an immediate security risk and whether or not he intends to aid in the subversion of the government and civilization of his new country and their replacement with something quite different: Islamic law.

If Ireland were determined to resist Islamization, it would evaluate the status of these 41 hunger strikers in light of their adherence to the Sharia, and desire (or lack thereof) ultimately to live under it in Ireland. It would accept them into Ireland only if they are determined to become Irish, not if they wish to form a political and social Islamic enclave within Ireland. And if they are accepted into the country, they should be immediately deported if they begin activities that promote Sharia.

But as you can see from this article, such considerations are nowhere on the radar screen. And they won't be. From the BBC, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Talks have been taking place to end a seven day long hunger strike by Afghan asylum seekers in a Dublin cathedral.

Forty-one men began their protest at St Patrick's Cathedral last Sunday.

They have vowed to starve themselves to death unless they can stay in Ireland, claiming they fear being tortured in their homeland....

Some of the men were said to have tied ropes around their necks and threatened to jump from the organ loft.

A number have also again began to refuse water as part of their protest....

"I understand there are ropes tied around their necks in a dramatic fashion. I also understand that they have knives or they certainly claim to have knives," a Church of Ireland official told the AFP news agency.

Rosanna Flynn, of campaign group Residents Against Racism, claimed some of the children inside the cathedral had attempted suicide during Thursday night.

The group has organised a support rally for the men at 1400 BST on Saturday.

The Irish government is refusing to negotiate on the men's asylum claims....

Supporters of the men have hung a banner on railings outside the cathedral, stating: "No-one is illegal."

The men began their protest on Sunday afternoon.

Irish Justice Minister Michael McDowell urged the men to stop the protest but said he would not negotiate with them.

He said the men had not yet exhausted the asylum appeals process.

The Afghans say they are from a mixture of ethnic and political backgrounds and have denied that any of them were Taleban members.

The slogan "No one is illegal" , is one the more vapid little sayings going around these days. It is real lingustic, moral and conceptual idiocy.
People such as those who populate such groups as Residents againest Racism are the usual collection of easily manipulated, self hating, psycologically margain types that populate the radical left. The is no doubt as to what type of organization Residents Againest Racism is as far as outlook. The radical left embrace of Muslims is a blunder of epic purportions. The underlying mentality of such people is self hate and romanticising of non-western cultures. They have a right to come any Western country because in the minds of their ertswhile advocates because they are victims of the evil West. Its whole a penance and self flagellation complex.
And finally there is a bit of radical sheik going on, Muslims have got that cachet; the whole my enemies, enemy is my friend thing.Their like so cool.

No asylum should be granted to anyone from a Muslim country unless he or she has renounced Islam. Once asylum has been granted, any evidence that the apostate has reverted to Islam should lead to instant deportation.

All Muslim countries are horrible, but some are less horrible than others. Muslim asylum seekers can try their luck in other Muslim countries.

There are so many desperate non-Muslim asylum seekers that Muslims can be turned away with a clear conscience.

The Afghans say they are from a mixture of ethnic and political backgrounds and have denied that any of them were Taleban members - from the BBC article
But according to an article in the Irish Times:

" The Irish Times has learned gardaí have profiled the men and believe there are three ringleaders. One of the protesters is the nephew of a former cabinet minister in the Taliban government in Afghanistan."

The gardai also state that at least 3 of the minors have been coerced into participation.

In a perfect world, the Republic of Ireland would withdraw from the EU, deport all Moslems, and initiate a sustained process to import Jews from the Middle East and Eurabia.

But it is the predominance of the Roman Catholic Church there that precludes Irishmen from doing the right thing for themselves and theirs.

Sinn Fein.

Either let them kill themselves or go in and get them and then deport them. Since they aren't apostates, their country would accept them with open arms. How old are the minors? If, they're babies, get them out.. if they're 16 or 17 , it's too late. They've already been..mohammedized. Send 'em home.

Is there no place on this planet that these people are not popping up?

Lets see...Muslims are occuping churches in Belgium. Now they are in churches in Ireland. I think I detect a pattern here.

If they're Moslems they're babies. Don't get me going again on the essential childishness of Moslems. Ok, adolescents maybe; but never beyond that.

MO HIJABS MO BANANA FEEDING SLOBS MO PUNJABS MO NATION OF ISLAM ROBS

May introduce you to President Mahmoud? Word has it that he's getting tight with El President Hugo down there in that oil-soaked banana republic, and I ain't talking about the hip clothing store chain.

If these dummies don't get some nutrition, they'll be staying alright.....in an Irish cemetary.

Or, perhaps Allah will spare them from their little bellies hurting from lack of food, and let them live on to be a continuing pain in the caboose of the Irish people.

I agree. The take over of churches is an emerging pattern for enflamed, disaffected, always-the-victim Muslims. Going in reverse, what would happen to a group of Irish who took over a mosque in Kabul, demanded asylum and any benefits available to them as refugees? I know... silly questions for many reasons, not the least of which would be that the Irish would have been murdered within the first hour of their "take-over." And, there sure wouldn't be any Afghan human rights groups protesting outside the mosque with signs, "no one is illegal."

APF:

Your views are increasingly clear to me, as is your extremism. You would drive Ireland out of the body that helped to bring it out of the 3rd world, and into the 1st? Ungrateful is an understatement for describing people like you. Perhaps comical would be a better word.

So you are a Sinn Fein supporter? If indeed you are a supporter of Sinn Fein, you might be a terrorist. I have personally witnessed a terrorist bombing in the 80s. Tell me, have you ever assisted Sinn Fein in any way?

As for the Afghans, feel free to send them home. I am not stopping anyone from doing what is necessary.

"Residents Against Racism"

It is not "racist" to say no to illegal immigration from Muslim countries.

Illegal immigration is after all illegal. A country can't open up its borders to whoever wants to come in.

How foolish.

These 41 Afghan Muslims have purposefully chosen a Roman Catholic Cathedral to gain the sympathy from the Irish public.

I doubt they will be persecuted if they return home to Afghanistan.

They are not Christians.

St. Patrick's Cathedral is Church of Ireland (ie Protestant) not RC.

Maryrose: the strikers, who have ropes, knives and razors which they say they will use to kill themselves, were indeed asked why they didn't go to a mosque instead. They said they deliberately went to a house of the predominant religion (which of course St. Patrick's isn't, because Church of Ireland are a minority), and said if Irish people were in trouble in Afghanistan they should go to a mosque!

Make sure they have enough rope.

Sunday morning services should clear 'em out faster than garlic on a Transylvanian trolleybus.

Latest from the Irish Times (subscription only):

The Department of Justice has instructed the Church of Ireland to withdraw from all negotiations with asylum seekers in St Patrick's Cathedral.

A statement issued today by the Church of Ireland, following a night of intense discussion during which senior personnel attempted to broker a resolution between the asylum seekers and the authorities, reported talks had reached an impasse.

The statement said "we had arrived at a set of proposals which were acceptable to the asylum seekers and which we felt offered a fair and equitable way forward for all parties. Unfortunately, this view was not shared by the Department of Justice.

"In an attempt to find a way forward, the Church has offered a Church official to act as an independent observer at further interviews. Regrettably, this too is rejected by the Department of Justice," the statement read.

"We have now been instructed by the Department of Justice to withdraw from all negotiations as it has placed this matter solely in the control of An Garda Siochana whose responsibility it is now to deal with this matter."

The cathedral is protestant, from the Church of England, I hope they would be deported, because being some, talibans, I doubt that they would like to convert.
And please Alarm Pig Farmer, don´t bash catholicism, without us, Europe and US would be muslims, remember the religion of the spanish warriors, the crusaders, Jean Sobieski, Charlemagne, Charles Martel and John of Austria, all were catholic.
"Dracula" who was orthodox and romanian converted and died like a catholic.

Remember that....

Okay, stupid question, but since noone else has asked, I will. Why are Muslims allowed into a cathedral, that too one honoring Ireland's patron saint? If they have to be put up somewhere honoring St Patrick, how about feeding them to the snakes in the box that St Pats cast into the Irish Sea?

Yikes, St Pats should have been St. Patrick!

I'll bet they've really trashed the church.

Infidel Pride
No-one 'let' them in, St Patricks is open to the public and is visited by hundreds of tourists.

"Some of the men were said to have tied ropes around their necks and threatened to jump from the organ loft."

And?

Europe must learn to only let people in who will contribute to society: educated, skilled, peaceful and not members of violent oppressive cults. And then not let their whole family in either. The argument that always gets me is 'oh, but the aging population needs the labour', but so many immigrants are beneficiaries. You don't need them. If you really want millions of people, there are plenty of others who aren't part of the cult of death, oh sorry ROP.

Irish Police end Afghans' Protest:

That BBC article says that the hunger strikers denied any were talibs.

An article from CBS News describes one as "Sultan Kabir Chakari, a 45-year-old former Foreign Ministry official in the Taliban government."

So which is it?

Something striking, but difficult to stomach, is the behavior of the Church of Ireland officials. They have seemed to have taken the side of the afghan illegals, against the Irish government. Dummies and Dhimmis.

People in Ireland haven't got a clue what's happening, the media deliberately keeps us all in the dark. We are moralized to by the likes of Mary Robinson on a consistant basis about how Islam means peace etc.. I find it interesting that these would be Jihadis chose a Protestant
church to occupy instad of a Catholic one, as there would surely have been a louder protest
about their dispicable behaviour. The sooner this filth leaves my country the better.

The Irish government should simply inform all these hunger-striking Talibs that Ireland is a free country and no one will force them eat. In fact, the police will assist them by making sure that no one is permitted to deny their expressed wishes by bringing them food.

And finally... Inform them that when they die, the government of Ireland will guarantee that they recieve a Catholic funeral, including a Christian burial with a rosary and crucifix underneath a tombstone that has a large statue of the Virgin Mary.

Then see how fast they end their hunger strike and leave Ireland forever.

If Islam is such a perfect religion and Sharia a perfect law, why aren't they seeking asylum in Saudi Arabia, or Syria or Lebanon or some other bastion of Islam? Why are they seeking sanctuary in a Western, Christian nation? Caveat Emptor.

Protest over...

from http://www.rte.ie/news/index.html

Gardaí have removed the Afghan hunger strikers from St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

Several public order units have now left the area surrounding the cathedral.

Campaigners say the men did not leave voluntarily but did not resist.

In a statement, the Department of Justice said the situation had ended with the minors being taken into the care of the HSE and the adults into garda custody.

The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has confirmed that no deal was done with the group. He said the Department's position remains what it has been since last Sunday - that the group must seek asylum through the refugee system.

The protestors were in the seventh day of a hunger strike in pursuit of political asylum.

Earlier, the Church of Ireland said it was instructed by the Department of Justice to withdraw from all negotiations involving the asylum seekers.

Last night the department rejected proposals, agreed by church officials with the asylum seekers, aimed at resolving the situation.

The Department of Justice said it could not agree to compromises brokered by the Church of Ireland bishops, as they would almost certainly lead to copycat actions.

The department said it is not possible to enter into agreement involving commitments which go beyond what the protestors are entitled to under the asylum process.

A four-hour sitting of the Dublin district court has remanded 33 of the Afghan hunger strikers on bail to appear in court next week.

The court sitting, which was presided over by Judge James Paul McDonald began at 2am this morning and concluded just before 6am.

The men, who are aged from their late teens to their 60s, were all charged under section three of the False Entry and Occupation Act.

In garda evidence it was revealed that after he was arrested, one of the men said 'we did not occupy the cathedral by force, we had permission from the holy father'.

All of the men have been ordered to reside at designated state run hostels in Dublin city and county and have been ordered to stay away from St Patrick's Cathedral.

They were all granted legal aid.

Robert, what you are suggesting to the Irish government makes too much sense. That is just too much pressure for them to bear, after all.
(Okay, enough of the sarcasm)

The only thing that the Irish government understands is how to debate and discuss without any viable solutions.

With regards to checking them out before they come into our country? oops!

Why! That is as much well thought through as how to deal with overcrowding in the A & E departments at the hospitals. I mean, what a concept, however, if it doesn't grease Bertie's palms and his cabinet, please don't bog(pun) him down with a load of...of...of...common sense. There I said it.

PJ

When Jews were trying to escape the spread of Nazism, Arabs in Israel protested to the British authorities ruling the country against allowing Jews in. The British complied [1939 White Paper]. Nor did Western countries allow many Jews in, except with great difficulty.

La Frontera: Thanks for the update. I am pleased to hear about the outcome.

Notice how the only pressure group expressing an opinion was from the left. Residents Against Racism.

Where were the other pressure groups comprised of the Irish? Why weren't they there to protest the actions of these 41 malcontents?

Because such organizations don't exist in Ireland. That is why these goons are, as of today, sleeping in Ireland, eating Irish food, getting Irish legal aid, and sponging off of the Irish people. Are they on a plane back to Afghanistan? No. Why not? Because now they have their foot in the door. The thin edge of the wedge is in place.

Let's have some other pressure groups: What about

RAIN - Residents Against Islamic Nutbars

RATS - Residents Against Taliban sympathizers

SEIN FEIN - Send Every Islamic Nazi Far East Instantly Now or

SEIN FEIN - Some Easy-going Irish Never Fully Eject Islamic Non-citizens

They've learned the lesson from their compatriots who hijacked a plane and achieved asylum in the UK. Force, violence and breaking the law to circumvent the lawful process of getting refugee status achieves results. I wonder how the lefties would react if it were Jews desecrating a mosque like this?

Just as the Irish were starting to get over their terrorist problem, they're letting jihadists in who, no doubt, will be causing plenty of trouble and biting the hand that feeds very shortly.

Imagine the reaction, if a bunch of Christian refugees got together and took over a mosque.
