JAMMU, India (Reuters) - Suspected Islamic militants [that is, mujahedin -- RS] shot dead at least 22 Hindus in two small villages in Indian-administered Kashmir on Monday, officials said.The massacre, one of the biggest in recent months, took place just days before Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh holds talks with Kashmiri separatists in New Delhi and later travels to the violent region for a "roundtable" conference with Kashmiris.
Militants struck the remote Hindu-dominated mountainous villages in Doda district, some 170 km (100 miles) northeast of Jammu, Kashmir's winter capital, early on Monday, police said.
No militant group claimed responsibility for the attack in which nine people were wounded, five critically.
"They (the villagers) were asked to assemble outside the house of the village head and later shot dead by the militants," Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi, a top Doda official, told Reuters.
"Yes, they are all Hindus," he added. "This is an unfortunate incident when things were looking up for peaceful days ahead."
Maybe these "militants" don't want peace -- except that peace which will follow their total victory.

I see from the BBC article that several "Hindu cattle grazers" were murdered. Cattle grazer sounds like working class to me. Or if not working class, then peasants at least. Where is the outrage from the Left that champions the poor, the workers, the peasants??
Unlike the routine terror attacks in Kashmir, this one is in Jammu, and should be seen as something deeper into India. In other words, more akin to the attacks on Varanasi, than maybe a drive-by shooting in Anantnag.

Well this attack didnt even happen in Kashmir it happened in Jammu which is a Hindu-majority area. The region that is actually labelled as "Kashmir" actually consists of 3 different areas. Jammu has Hindu Dogra majority (it is also the place where Kashmiri Hindus live in refugee hovels provided by Indian govt.) Kashmir has Muslim majority (they kicked out almost all of their Hindus) and the biggest chunk is Ladakh which has a Buddhist majority. I say its high time Indian government make Jammu and Ladakh separate federal entitities and stop pretending that all is well in J&K.

Reuters reporting this as if they are discussing the size of a crowd at a football game...what a world, where Muslims have to be codified as "militant" in order to even have "Islamic" tagged on to the name of butchers and murderers.
For God's sake, it's OK to call these monsters what they want to be called. Call them jihadists, jihadi, mujahedin, Muslims, Islamists, followers of Muhammad, et al.
Press agencies do a terrific job, in this media-crazy age, of dumbing-down vital issues to the point that people can read about holy war below a blurb about a new skincare solution and never miss a sip of their morning java because they haven't been given the whole, bloody story.

Currrent Indian govt. is dhimmi to its core. They have even made a separate ministry for minority affairs (read Muslim affairs) and are seriously thinking about reserving places in Armed forces for Muslims.

The BBC's News and current affairs department is rotten to the core. For the last 20 years they have been churning out "the beauty of islam" that is, while resolutely keeping the Jihadi massacres out of their vision, and above all their comment.
The situation is no better as far as our government is concerned. It still parrots the "Islam is a RoP" mantra - so it is no surprise that the BBC follows the government line.

"Militants" instead of "terrorists" or "murderers" is a euphemism enforced long ago by the jihadis on Kashmiri media on pain of death. Interesting to see world media toeing the line. Some alternatives they can consider: "mischief makers", "misguided youth", "trouble mongers", "Islamic peaceniks" etc.

According to DW there are " more than 22 different groups who are fighting for the independence of Kashmir..."

Then there is this - over demolition of a tomb. All over the world they are creating tombs for the innocents. It sure doesn't take anything to rile up the muslims. Don't they ever have anything else to do?

Gujarat police shoot protesters
"Two people have been killed in the western Indian state of Gujarat in a clash between police and local Muslims in the city of Baroda.
The clash erupted on Monday morning as Muslims protested against the demolition of a mausoleum.
The authorities say the demolition is part of a campaign against illegal construction work.
Police said they tried controlling the crowd with batons and tear gas and were then forced to open fire.
Six people were also injured.
A curfew has been imposed in the old city area of Baroda. Police now say the situation is under control."

I am living in occupied Britain at the moment but of course, I have access to the internet and frequent those websites where I can obtain accurate news and data on the (IWW) Islamic-Western War without the propaganda, distortion, and censorship imposed by the BBC, The Goebbelsian (Guardian) and local booksellers.
Thus at the moment, I can tell the difference between a "militant separatist" and a Jihadist, notwithstanding the BBC's Newspeak.
We must be vigilant however, as the European plutocrats are currently conspiring with the United Nations and various NGOs in an effort to usurp the internet which -- if successful -- would eradicate this, our window on the world and lifeline of open communication.
Then, there will be no Jihadists... only Islamic activists and freedom fighters.

From the title one would surmise that there is nothing new here. But do look at the picture accompanying the article. The accompanying text is "The US is leading efforts to curtail Iran's nuclear programme", giving the idea to any passing reader, that the US is accurately represented by the statue of Liberty as death itself.
Its only when one right clicks the image properties that one finds that the pic is Iranian in origin.
Am I misreading this? Am I being unfair to the BBC? Would like your comments.

Hello DP111. I think your observation and interpretation of the BBC's not-so-subliminal message equating the US and death is spot on. Certainly, no one can accuse the BBC of being a dilettante in the area of media art.
Take for example, the article on the killing of a Palestinian woman currently featuring prominently on the front page of their web site:

Recognising that a picture is worth a thousand words (particularly when many in your audience are literary-challenged), the BBC story includes no fewer than 3 photos, each of which portrays the dead woman and/or her grieving friends and family. A deep, personal, and emotional connection is thereby drawn between the Palestinians and the BBC's readers. Compare this treatment to that following the murder of 10 or 20 Israelis by a Palestinian bomber where we may see 1 photo of the shattered glass and upended tables in the targeted café, void of human beings -- impersonal, inanimate, soulless. Feature stories and photos of the massacred Israelis and their families are almost never published.
A statistical accident or the product of an ultra-sophisticated media company with an explicit political agenda?

The vestiges of the demonstrations of this religion of peace seem to have same images worldwide, whether it be shredded limbs or body organs of a bomb blast in a cafe in Israel, or a genocidal nazi style machine gunning of ordinary peasants in kashmir.
The victims-children, peasants, women ,working class men- ordinary people..Are we to believe that these individuals form the core of opression against these so called "rebels" or "freedom fighters" as they love to call themselves.
But then again as infidels, it doesn't matter, for their god will enjoy the murder of an infidel child because of his association to an "other god"-albeit a more peaceful one.
Justify their causes, glorify their bravery , dhimmi fools may ..but try as much as they can ..they can never hide the magnitude of evil being perpetrated in the name of Allah.

You and I have both noted that the victims of the recent massacre in Jammu were not "oppressors" but merely poor, hard-working folk. I have made the same point about the victims in Tel Aviv during the week-long Passover [Pesah] holiday. That the bombing occurred during the holiday made it more painful and more humiliating, as you understand. In order to combat Islamic jihad, we have to neutralize those who support, defend, excuse, "explain," and run interference for jihad terrorism. Hence, we need to neutralize Leftist support for jihad. And one of the ways to do that is to remind the world over and over that the victims of jihad bombings are overwhelmingly the poor, the workers, peasants, cattle herders, etc.
