Egypt: Court Suspends Ruling Recognising Bahai Rights

From IRIN:

Cairo - Egypt's Supreme Administrative Court decided on 15 May to suspend the implementation of an earlier lower court ruling that allowed Bahais to have their religion recognised on official documents.

"While [we are] disappointed by the decision to suspend the administrative court ruling it is important to note that the Supreme Administrative Court has yet to decide on the merits of the case," read a press statement issued by the Cairo-based Egyptian Initiative for Private Rights (EIPR).

The earlier ruling, made on 4 April, was passed after a case was filed by a Bahai couple whose official documentation - on which their affiliation to Bahaism was stated - had been confiscated by the state. The ruling quickly became the epicentre of controversy in parliament, led by members of both the ruling National Democratic Party and the banned-but-tolerated Muslim Brotherhood, after which the interior ministry quickly filed an appeal to overturn the ruling.

"We have no issue with people describing themselves as followers of beliefs not recognised by Islam," prominent Muslim Brotherhood member Abdel Moneim Abul Futouh said on 7 May. "What must be appealed is a ruling allowing followers of unrecognised faiths to describe themselves as followers of a religion in official documents when it's not technically a religion."

Why Mr. Futouh, what a novel idea! Not technically a religion, you say? Hummm...

"not technically a religion."

Islam is a cult. Theocracy. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe it is time for countries in the West to declare that Islam is not a religion, but is rather an all encompassing political, economic, psychological and social ideology that is fundamentally incompatible with the rule of law, equality under the law of gender and creed, and freedom of conscience. It is time for Mosques to start paying property taxes in exchange for a promise that we won't tear them down by authority of eminent domain to put up McDonalds restaurants in their places. We could call this new tax "ayzij".

A common tactic of the pogroms on religious minorities in Islamic countries is to declare that the minorities are apostates, that their marriages are as a result nullified, and that the husband and wife have therefore been having sex outside of marriage and are guilty of immoral behaviour that is punishable by death. Not only are the parents incarcerated and condemned, the children are snatched away and usually sent off to be raised as Muslims in far away villages never to be seen or heard from again.

This has been my exact viewpoint for a long time now. Islam needs to be disavowed as a valid religion in America and put on par with the nazzi party. That should grind their advance in the US to a screeching halt.

The Bahais start in Iran in 1844 with than Muslim man saying he was the return of Christ than the Government of Iran have him excute for Hesty which was done by Christian soilder in a all christian unit. It was never than Christian base religion but than Moslim who claim to be the Son of God.

Bahai-ism strikes me as being a genuinely peaceful and tolerant religion with enlightened views on women's rights: no wonder the Muslims hate it so much.

How insecure in their own faith they are.

Muslim military unit refuse to excute him at all because they believe in him and his message. It was the Christian who form into than special military units who excute him as they consider him than hestide for claim to be Jesus Christ who return.

If he was really Jesus he wouldn't have died, would he?
