EU to make nuclear offer to Iran

The Eurodhimmis are preparing a nice gift package for Iran in an attempt to bribe it to give up its nuclear ambitions. No doubt Iran will end up both with the Eurodhimmi gifts and the nukes.

From the BBC, with thanks to Rog:

The European Union is drawing up new proposals to offer to Iran to get it to halt its nuclear programme.

The package, believed to include freer trade and political incentives, is to be discussed by permanent UN Security Council members and Germany next week.

Iran responded by insisting that it had a "right" to nuclear technology.

Tehran has dismissed Western concerns saying its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful, and has rejected calls to stop uranium enrichment.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said there was no need for anyone to be nervous about the programme.

"All of them know 100% that the nuclear programme in Iran is totally peaceful," he said at the Developing Eight summit of Muslim nations in Bali, Indonesia.

Mr Ahmadinejad repeated that Iran was ready to hold dialogue with any country except Israel but not with "bombs over our heads".

"If they want to resort to the use of force we will not go into dialogue with them," he said.

Incentives

The EU has not given details of the new offer to Iran being considered, but diplomats describe it as a mixture of "the carrot and the stick"....

"The EU would be prepared to support Iran's development of a safe, sustainable and proliferation-proof civilian nuclear programme if international concerns were fully addressed," says a draft EU statement obtained by Reuters news agency.

Desperation

The package would expand on an offer made last August, which Iran rejected.

Our correspondent says it is a measure of the West's desperation that it has had to resort to such an offer.

The chances of getting tougher wording on a UN resolution to threaten Iran appear slim, he adds....

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is bored:

Meanwhile Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Bali that any proposal that did not include Iran's right to nuclear technology would not be acceptable.

"No incentive can be interesting for the Iranian government and the Iranian nation unless it includes Iran's right to benefit from peaceful nuclear technology."

If you're done with the "1938 alert" theme, it might be time to upgrade it to 1939-40.

Stuffing the jihad djinn back in the bottle gets more difficult to impossible with each show of weakness. Not to beat a dead camel, but they only respect strength in shame-honor cultures. Human life is cheap and disposable. Economic considerations are not their primary, or even secondary, considerations.

Economic determinist analysis is convincing to primarily greedy, materialistic, self-absorbed, short-sighted people, which might help explain the persistent stupidity amongst our western leaders. By showing an unwillingness to use our power time and again, we're actually encouraging worse behavior on their part. As we're now discussing a nuclear Iran, the stakes could not be higher.

When Clinton pulled out of Somalia, Osama Bin Laden crowed about it in his 1996 fatwa. Every time someone reads "Muslim land," substitute "Earth" and then the problem becomes much easier to understand. Our troops were never anywhere near the two mosques, but the appeasement beat goes on.

Beagle-

I always was really annoyed by a Beagle's bark but you changed my mind - very good.

Why should the mullahs agree to this deal.

They know once they have the bomb, they'll have offers of far more.

Beagle - contemplating your post, which in substance is 3/4 about European dhimmi psychology, I wonder, what in the hell was the point of Freud? What in the hell was the point about western psychology generally ( a "science", don't you know?)- if the west is unable, after literally millions of pages published in the west on or related to "human psychology" - to grasp its most BASIC tenets, the most obvious and basic laws of human nature? It was all a joke obviously. Millions of pages devoted to a joke and a fraud. The collective west gets an "F" in Psych101. It's a disgrace.

Iranians want to buy time, and still get the goodies from the EU. they do not want to stop makeing nuclear fuel, and then onto bombs. they are looking for a fight, only when they have it will they use to their benefit. in the meanwhile, EU sucks up.. you would think after Hitler's charade those idoits in Europe would see the same trick again!

is there no limit to the Vichy-like cravenness of the European Union? To the EU's love of murderers, liars, thugs, etc?It seems that they are as much a danger to Western civilization as Bin Laden and Ahmadinajad himself.

But I must respond to another poster who rightly points out that ordinary carrot-and-stick methods don't work with someone who's ready to die for the black-eyed houris. That is true as far as it goes, but Muslim rulers love money too, that too ought to be kept in mind. What was all their eagerness to collect jizya and other taxes, fees, and exactions from the dhimmis?

"Eurodhimmis" - personally I prefer "Eurarabians".

After all Islam is just the colonising tool of Mohammed.

Besides, have you ever seen the look on a Frenchperson/ British/ German's face when you ask if they are from 'Eurarabia'?

Beagle, you and others that keep bringing up Somalia, and in the same paragraph Clinton, and Osama need to rethink your position.

Somalia is just as much a tarbaby and honeypot as Iraq, and our venture there was a loser, Clinton did good by withdrawing, the problem is that we should never have gone in. Let them do with each other as they wish, and we sit back and watch them do each other in. Same with Sudan.

Clinton was pressured to do something in Somalia, pressured by

As regards the latest in Somalia..Fighting Continues in Somalia as always and who is the good guys? The War lords, who are fighting off the Islamists.

Fighting continued in Mogadishu yesterday entering the eleventh day. The militia fighting has so far claimed 114 lives. Somali’s interim government urged the international community to intervene. Analysts are viewing the fighting in the failed Horn of Africa state as a proxy battle between al Qaeda and Washington, which is widely believed to be funding the warlords.

So who was behind our adventure into Somalia in the first place, the honors I suspect go to the Saudis to pull the Islamists irons out of the fire. Just like our invasion of Iraq has pulled the Islamists of KSA and Iran's irons out of the fire. The west had no interest in Somalia or Sudan, and we certainly are not the winnners (we be the losers) in Iraq, and the winners are "Islamics", Wahhabi and Shi'a, that's who.

3rdtimelucky: "Besides, have you ever seen the look on a Frenchperson/ British/ German's face when you ask if they are from 'Eurarabia'?"

No. But dammit that is something I'd love to see...

The U.N. needs a new, simple Law:

1. NO RELIGIOUS LEADERSHIP IN A STATE MAY BE ALLOWED TO HAVE CONTROL OVER NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

2 THE BASIC IRRATIONALITY OF FAITH EXEMPTS THEM FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OVER SUCH SERIOUS MATTERS.

3. BELIEF BELONGS IN THE HEART, NOT THE CYCLOTRON.

Update: They rejected the offer. Suprise!

Rejection was expected.

This offer is just another perfunctory step, another box ticked on the "we have tried everything sheet" before leading to the inevitable.

The Iranians have no intentions of cooperating.

At least we´re sticking by the protocol (have to consider future history writers), and the blatant invitation to Mr.Bush to join Islam has been answered. (it´s called diplomacy)

I have an inkling that Mr.Bush is still being underestimated. After all he is supposed to look after the interests of all Americans. And his perceived Islam-friendliness might just be his bit of taqiya, it does not strike me that he and his gang will bugger it.. they are just somewhat careful and somewhat stupid and mean. But ready to use all the toys.
