Iran test-fires long-range missile

1938 Alert from the Jerusalem Post:

Iran conducted a test launch Tuesday night of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which is capable of reaching Israel and US targets in the region, Israel Radio reported. The test came hours before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with US President George W Bush in Washington to discuss the Iranian threat.

Military officials said it was not clear if this most recent test indicated an advance in the capabilities of the Shihab 3. They said the test was likely timed to coincide with the Washington summit and with comments made by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah during celebrations in Beirut marking the 6th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

Obviously in preparations for the role they are going to play in Iraq, so that Centcom does not have to train Iranian police and military in helping maintain law and order in Iraq.

Uh oh ! My alarm bells are going haywire. Wonder if White House is getting it. Once they scatter these missiles all over their dirtland, there is NO WAY we can intercept all of them.

CHAOS WHAT CHAOS------TEHRAN (AFX) - Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad boasted Wednesday that the Islamic republic had mastered the entire nuclear fuel cycle and that it would give an "historic slap" to any attacker.
"Today, Iran has mastered the entire nuclear fuel cycle, from start to finish, thanks to young Iranian scientists," the president said in a speech in the southwestern border town of Khorramshahr.
"The enemies are looking to plot and want to create differences among Iranians to stop us getting our rights," Ahmadinejad said.
"But if they do the slightest damage to the Iranian people, if they commit the slightest aggression, they will receive an historic slap."

mahdi oh mahdi-----------Ahmadinejad: If Iran’s rights violated – response ‘painful and historic’

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that if his country’s rights are violated, the response of the Iranian people would be “painful and historic.”

Ahmadinejad stressed that Iran would defend its rights to have the nuclear capabilities to manufacture nuclear energy. (Dudi Cohen)

It all sounds pretty scary. And it is. But think about this in context. In THIS generation, amid the earthquakes, famines, wars and pestilences, solar storms, weather anomalies, ethnic unrest and a global war between Islam and Judeo-Christianity, that the front pages are filled with predictions of the end of the world.

storagemanager,
I used to think that we live in troubled times. But I thought some more and realized that we have been living in troubled times for the past millenia. It's only 60 years to the second World War and we realize we had a War going on for the past 1350 years. Now we are a part of it. All of us. And this war is the most ferocious. Nobody has even dreamed of this war of epic proportions. We know about it, but even our collective imaginations are not up to it.

arjun.sevak...if we take world history and combine it with bible history..the writting is on the wall.....but for those who can not accept this....Logic would seem to say a nuke filled world full of islamic monsters must blow soon!

arjun.sevak says

"Uh oh ! My alarm bells are going haywire.
Wonder if White House is getting it."

They are. Having worked in Naval Intelligence, I know that what you read in the MSM and Blog sites are only the tip of the iceberg that they allow you to see as far as our defense strategy and ABM capabilities.

"Once they scatter these missiles all over their dirtland, there is NO WAY we can intercept all of them."

Yes we can.

The falling stars will soon be seen over the middle east. Islands will disappear and mountains will be moved. Revelations is approaching.

Almost everything Iranian president says is difficult to take seriously.
Do they have a capability to hurt us now or in the future? Probably not.
His rhetoric is empty of any reason or logic and one can only wander how such an idiot could be a president of a country, which has rich history and cultural tradition.
Should we really worry about him?
I want to say – no, we should not.
The only problem I have is that I have seen something like that before. I remember when reading and watching Hitler speaking, I was also wandering: how such a nut case could be a leader of a nation, which was so proud about its cultural traditions. A simple fact is that no nation has cultural traditions. The masses in any nation are ignorant about their own history, culture and scientific achievements and to underestimate stupidity of any nation is a very dangerous thing to do.
So, I am a bit worried. In the same time I can not see a full scale war between us and them. As stupid as they are, they are not going to commit suicide. They will be satisfied at this stage with something less dramatic then the world domination. The main objective seems to be Israel and the attitude of EU, Russia and China (not to mention position of different political groups in US), they feel (and they are probably right) the world will sacrifice Israel, if scared enough. Soviet Union used the same tactics. Remember: “better to be red, then dead”.
We do not need to go to war. We need alternative fuel. We need to treat “multiculturalism” with contempt it deserves.

Maybe this is the beginning of the Iranian Landing a Man on the Moon Project.

Because they're going to need someplace to go once they try nuking Israel.

I suggest the broad expanse of the Mare Ignoramus.

Due south of the crater Avicenna.

(Plenty of Black Rocks, too.)

Pong:

The non-Islamic portion of humanity probably will be forced to go to war with Islam sooner or later (whether they like it or not). Islam has irretrievably brainwashed hundreds of millions of people around the globe into believing that slaughtering the remainder of humanity is the only path to redemption. Citizens of the Muslim world have killing practically encoded into their DNA (it's what they know). This is a tragedy that we will all have to face with as much courage as we can muster.

Sooner or later the Islamic countries WILL be able to inflict massive damage to non-Muslim states (and islamic ideology from the Kuran et al commands them to do so). This may sound far-fetched but remember that at one time places like Yugoslavia, the Indian subcontinent, Afghanistan, Nigeria,Egypt, and Sudan were not living under threat of the Sword of the prophet and existed peacefully. Now, as Islam extends its empire of horrors further across the globe, more and more of the world will be subjected to these same jiahdi-inspired genocide and pogroms.

Although Islam still gets much of its financing from petroleum, it is no longer dependent upon petro-dollars to finance all of its terrorist activities. Look at the economies of Malaysia, Indonesia (which under Suharto in the late 1990s had a GNP of just under US $1 trillion annually), Iran, or Turkey. Many Islamic nations now trade with the EU, China, and India and make considerable profit from this. There has been economic progress in more than a few Islamic countries and that has proven a boon to Islamic terror too. It's a certainty that these Islamic countries are using at least some of their recent windfalls to finance jihad wars against the non-Muslim lands.

I would like to see China and India scrap their plans to build petro pipelines from Iran to their countries. But I doubt anything is going to stop these countries' plans from materializing now. The consequences are apt to prove disastrous for the entire world as Iran will make huge profits off this scheme. A jihad windfall like no other...

Make no mistake about it. As Islamic conflict at some point down the road is virtually inevitable. Prepare yourself.

Iran can't hit the U.S. or Europe with nukes, the only way they can hit the U.S. without bombers or missles is by exploding a ship in the harbor or an uninspected shipping container in any port or city.

Israel has something to fear, unless it has a second strike capability.. with 200 Nukes they could and should wipe out Mecca and Medina, Tehran, Riyadh, Cairo, Damascus, and South Lebanon.

The idea of suitcase nukes are preposterous, U235 or Plutonium is so highly radioactive and detectable that any courier will die from radiation before they can get into position to use it. The first responders and repair crews at Chernoybl started dropping like flies within days of exposure.

A suitcase nuke would need so much lead shielding, that it would be a safe, and not a suitcase.

Pythagoras,
No Hindu wants this pipeline. The Indian Army does not want this pipeline. All the major financial institutes do not want this pipeline. (They have economic reasons, the price of the landed gas is unviable, anyway). The Army knows better than to trust oil coming from hostile pakistani held territory. There was the traitor (and I do call him traitor) oil minister Mani Shankar Aiyar (a Hindu to boot) who initially floated this idea of a pipeline. Now he is sacked and heads the department in charge of the next commonwealth games. I am glad to see him go. However much talk goes on, I know this pipeline will never be made. We Hindus have lots of traitors who sell us down the river for a few riyals more.
