TWENTY “major conspiracies” by Islamist terrorists in Britain have been uncovered by the security services, John Reid, the home secretary, has disclosed.Reid said that the existence of so many plots means that the police and MI5 are fully stretched and cannot divert their precious counter-terrorism resources to a lengthy public inquiry into last year’s London suicide bombings.
Reid revealed the existence of the plots — far more than have previously been reported — at a meeting with some of the victims’ relatives and survivors of the attacks last week.
He failed to give further details but the claim appears to fit in with briefings by MI5 which suggest that as many as 1,200 potential terrorist suspects may now be in the UK.
Certainly you're not suggesting something like a "loyalty" oath! Or a statement requiring tourists and immigrants to swear that they have never belonged to, or supported in any material way, organizations listed with the Dept. of State as terrorist organizations!

But of course one has to remember that Dr. John Reid is a former member of the Communist Party and is on record as saying that "no institution has the divine right to exist" which would presumably be applied by him to mean his own country as well.
I seem to remember that someone else on this site tried to point out in the recent past that most Government politicians in the UK are so-called 'former' Communist Party members. Once you know that it explains one hell of a lot.

I agree with you. The very people that are supposed to work for their country and citizens are not doing their job. If the problem is left to continue this way it will result in the citizens having to take drastic steps. That would be the last thing that should happen.

1200 or 12,000 terrorists in UK; how would you know? The truly scary part about these Islamic terror groups is that they are 'self-starters'. They're not in touch with HQ back in Pakistan, they're just like-minded individuals who meet in the mosques and streets of various Western cities, and in an ad hoc fashion, set about their various plots. Most of it of course is hot air ( a bit like the rumblings from most of us armchair warriors who visit this site, right? ) but even a tiny percentage of the talk being translated into action is a security nightmare. They get their indoctrination from the mosques or madrassas, maybe a few of them do some actual training, and the rest is up to them. They're savvy enough to know they might be being listened to, so plans are kept to word of mouth amongst a select few. How can you calculate what this number of committed activists is? The UK Home Office hasn't even managed to keep a track of foreign prisoners being let out of prison.
Later I realized that this prejudice and hatred Muslims harbor in their hearts against almost all non-muslims is not the result of any misinterpretation of the teachings of the koran but because the koran teaches hate and prejudice. There are many verses in the koran that call believers to hate nonbelievers, to fight them, to call them najis, to subdue and humiliate them, to chop off their heads and other limbs, to crucify them kill them wherever they find them. Hmmm 20 potential attacks, I would think that number is low, way low. What percentage of England’s population are muslim? I would think at least half are planning or supporting attacks IMHO. Not speaking out and not attempting to curb the violence is equal to causing it.

After the 7/7 bombings, the government said that they would take certain measures, including, I believe, a full public enquiry. They have backed down on these measures.
I get the feeling that this is Reid's excuse for not having a proper enquiry. Perhaps he's scared the cat might come out of the bag about Islam.

If institutions had the divine right to exist, Egypt would still be ruled by the Pharaohs, Mexico by the Aztecs and England and Wales would still be part of the Roman Empire. Its time we realised this. Permanence is the illusion of every civilization, and if a civilization isn't prepared to justify its existence by being prepared to fight for it, using every means at its disposal when threatened, then it will surely fall to an aggressor. We are seeing this played out now. Islam is picking up where it retreated from 1683 to 1973 - given a new impetus by 30 years of weakness and pandering to it by the West, and its victory over the Soviets in Afghanistan 20 years ago. Our ancestors were preparted to fight to keep our institutions alive in 1529, 1571, 1633 and 1683 through to 1718. We had the Greeks fighting to free themselves from Ottoman rule from 1824-1830, and probably much earlier on many occasions. The Maltese successfully resisted the Ottomans in the 16th century. These are feats we have to emulate, but we also have to chip away at the foundations of Islam itself if we are to prevail. Military action only contains Islam, spreading the truth will undermine and hopefully destroy it. And in this struggle, there is no place for the LLL dhimmies, the PC brigade and leftie Islamophiles, and folks who bleat the refrain "Islam is a religion of peace" which runs counter to what Sir Winston Churchill and John Quincy Adams knew, unless we want to succumb to Sharia and throw away 6,000 years of accumulated knowledge, and that which is yet to come.
