"All they want is a state of their own" update from VOA:
Palestinian security forces from rival Fatah and Hamas factions have engaged in a gun battle in Gaza City.Media reports say two police officers loyal to the Fatah faction of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas were wounded in the fighting late Thursday.
A member of the Hamas force was also shot and wounded.
Tensions rose earlier this week when Hamas deployed a 3,000-strong police force made up mostly of militants - defying Mr. Abbas. In response, he ordered Palestinian police under his control to also deploy.
In Washington, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned the creation of rival Palestinian security forces is creating a dangerous situation. She said all Palestinian parties should respect the need of the Palestinian people to not have violence in the streets...
In a related story from Reuters, "Tensions rise after Hamas aide caught with cash"
GAZA - Rival Palestinian forces faced off briefly at Gaza's border crossing with Egypt on Friday after a Hamas official was caught with 639,000 euros ($804,000) hidden in his clothing, authorities said.Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh vowed during Friday prayers not to disband a new Hamas-led security force and said he was prepared to increase its size in defiance of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Bush administration.
So many factions, so little time. It looks like Israels 'occupation' of Gaza may have been the glue, keeping the Palis together. Some are with Al Queada, some Hamas and some are with Abbas, probably all are out of money and are guarding their turf, kidnapping people, murdering one another . . . . sound familiar???? Let Islam be Islam. I've even heard of a growing Shais movement--by conversion--to the irritant of the Sunnis. Isn't interesting, even when the evil Israelis leave, the arabs begin to kill one another, and this internal dissention only increases. Unlike the US, I hope the Israelis see the value of it, and won't stiffle the conflict among the "Palis."
It is truly gratifying to see how we are making progress toward peace. Salaam/Shalom, isn't it wonderful. Thanks to everyone out there who brought us Oslo.
Do tell. A Palestinian minister was found with over 600K in his clothing. Last month another minister "lost" 250k in funds from his hotel room in Kuwait. Perhaps they should have let Suha handle it.
Revenue producing hot houses that employ thousands and have the potential of bringing in tens of millions of dollars per annum are demolished.
With Condy telling them to respect "the need of the Palestinian people" I'm sure it will all return to normal. Wait. THIS IS NORMAL.
Does anyone detect a pattern?
These monkeys don't deserve a state.
It is a pattern historically recorded and documented. First, they kill all infidels, most of them by sawing their heads off, then, when they have one of their many 'states', to start massacring each other. (just to keep their hands in, I suppose). When not able to saw infidels' necks, they saw the necks of goats, sheeps, camels, and all other creatures of God that have the misfortune to cross their path. No religion calls for all its followers to saw off heads. And the mo's do it daily. They make their kids do it so they have a free hand when an infidel comes along.
Hey folks! Don't you understand that all of this disfunction is the predictable result of all of those years being traumatized by the Israeli occupation?
/sarcasm
Arm 'em and let them fight to determine who will rule the pals.
Hey folks,
If you want to do something more...I know nothing about these groups but the idea is good.
Giant Anti-Retreat Rally Scheduled in Washington
A massive pro-Israel, anti-withdrawal rally will be held in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, coinciding with PM Olmert's request for billions of dollars to aid the retreat.
The protestors will urge U.S. President Bush not to provide aide for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert unilateral retreat plan, which has been condemned on both sides of the political spectrum....
Information about buses leaving from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut can be had by writing to rafvrab@att.net or rafvrab@gmail.com. From elsewhere in the country, write to jonsilverman2002@yahoo.com....
Those who cannot attend are asked to call the White House and register their opinions about the plan. For particulars, see http://mattot-arim.blogspot.com/.

And still the US State Dept will ask, "Where do we send the check." It is all very disgusting. Thanks, arjun sevak, for your posting. In my mind symbolic Islam is throat slitting, humans and animals. There is nothing of "peace" in that action that is done over and over again.
HaMalach
At first, I thought "anti-withdrawal" meant anti-withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. A second reading showed it was about Israel from Judea & Samaria.
The protest is good, but rather too late. The reason Sharon and Olmert took the steps they did was continuing pressure from State on this issue. I think Pat Robertson, for all his faults, was right when he recommended that the State Department be blown up.
That said, I agree with biorabbi - Israel should let the Palis kill each other in a civil war. To let that happen, a partial withdrawal may not be such a bad idea. In fact, in this case, I'm rooting for Hamas against Fatah, so that the Taqiyya wing of the PLO gets eviscerated. Once that happens, Israel should be free to take out the entire Palestinian authority, disguising it under the label of taking on Hamas, which even to the Euro-dhimmis, would be slightly more acceptable than taking out Fatah.
Happy to see Hamas and the PLO (whatever) at each other's throats. More please! They have enough guns to do this for some time, although they might run out of food.
Maybe someone might get to see that muslims kill more muslims than anyone else does!
But hey,,that doesn't really count does it?
Liars, all of them!
No morality, no integrity, nothing going for any of them.
Of course they will find a way to lay the blame on Israel and/or the US.
Now that you mention it Gramfan: during the first Intifada (in the 1990s?) news articles would trumpet the news that 2 more Palestinians died bringing the death toll to 169, but they would quietly report that 300 people died in civil warfare in Lebanon in 3 weeks time.
dococ:
Indeed!!
And how many did saddam kill? No one will ever know.
And of course they never say how many people the "mo's" have killed,,,like 9/11,countless acts of terrorism, and now Dafur!
Amazing isn't it? Every day almost 50 in Iraq by their fellow muslims?
Of course we must blame the US,,yeah, right!
Bio, I don't think that either the palestinian authority [Fatah-Abu Mazen wing] or the Hamas, are short on cash. It's just that the big guys who have the $$$ don't want to share it with their dear brethren in jihad. Then, they like to exercise moral blackmail on the West in order to reopen the spigot.
H2O Dragon,
I know you were being sarcastic. But many out there don't appreciate the sarcasm, and it can sometimes be used your own position. In any case, you can ask people why 120,000 plus Arab Muslims were murdered in Algeria since 1990 [by fellow Arab Muslims in their civil war without any Israeli occupation or French or American occupation. You can ask why Sunnis in Pakistan bomb Shi`a mosques. Is that too because of Israel?
