GENEVA - Iran will not respond to incentives to halt its nuclear program before mid-July, at least two weeks past the date sought by the U.S. and its partners, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Thursday after meeting Iran's foreign minister.
"I don't think they will give an answer before the G-8 meeting in St. Petersburg," Annan told reporters after a meeting with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. The Russian meeting of the world's eight industrialized democracies is to run July 15-17.
"I expect their answer to come after that meeting, but I can't tell you specifically on what date," Annan said.
The U.S. has said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and diplomats from the other five nations offering Iran the incentives agreed by phone that they expect an answer around the time of a meeting of G-8 foreign ministers on June 29 in Moscow.
The United States reiterated that Iran should respond by next week.
The Bush administration is reluctant to set a specific deadline, but U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that it would be "helpful and useful if we could get a response and know where the Iranians are" before the June 29 meeting.
I would not be surprised if annan counseled them to take that long.

The Iranians are probably too busy to repond right now, after all, they probably have to burn the midnight oil to organize jihad attacks on the upcoming G-8 meeting.

And don't forget, the U.N. is also hellbent on making the United States pay even more money into it. They think we are rich and living off the fat-of-the-land. So, we are obligated to send even more money to third world countries in the eyes of that 33%. But they won't dare call it jizya, of course. Oh no.
The fact that we are still even a part of the U.N. just gives more credence to my theory that the New World Order movement is real, not a myth, and the intellectual child of a lot of very dangerous and greedy American businessmen in positions of political power or pulling the strings on such power.
I'm not apt to rant on about conspiracy theories, but this is looking less and less like a "theory" to me, so I give it some precedence lately. Fools like Bush and Cheney think that they can "cage the tiger" and convince the Muslim world to behave, if only we can deal with the "terrorists". This is a very dangerous path, if that is indeed the strategy being wielded by the current Administration. I hope not, but I do not see us attacking Iran. I do not see us leaving Iraq after using sufficient force to get the job done. I do not see us putting appropriate pressure on Saudi Arabia. I do not see us putting sufficient pressure on Eurabia. I do not see us being told the truth about the real enemy (Islam). And I most certainly do not see evidence that there is that much educated logic being employed by anyone on the White House staff today. This includes Rice and Cheney and Rumsfeld, who up until a few months ago, I actually respected far more than I do today.
No, we are definitely being mislead in this war. I have no more illusions.
