The flow of young Muslim men from western Europe to Iraq has increased dramatically in the past two years. The “pipeline” of suspected terrorists is being fuelled by growing resentment about American and British policy and scandals such as the mistreatment of inmates at the Abu Ghraib prison.
A senior security source, confirming that between 120 and 150 Britons had travelled to Iraq, said there was concern that the flow was increasing: “The really worrying thing is that this has become a movement that people believe in. It’s not simply a matter of them joining a terrorist organisation.”

Yes, let's bring them to Iraq so they can live hidden among the civilian population, so when our soldiers fight them, we will be blamed for committing "atrocities" as in Haditha. The vandalizing of a Toronto mosque on the weekend could be part of a backlash against Islam after police arrested 17 Muslim men and youth in southern Ontario amid accusations of an al-Qaeda-inspired bombing plot, an imam says.

Hamid Slimi, who leads the International Muslims Organization of Toronto mosque, told CBC News on Sunday that it was a "logical assumption" to link the vandalism and news of the detentions under Canada's Canada's Anti-terrorism Act.
In the largest anti-terrorism operation ever undertaken in Canada, more than 400 police officers conducted a series of raids in southern Ontario on June 2, 2006, detaining 12 men and five youths. They alleged the suspects adhered to a violent Islamic ideology linked to al-Qaeda and accused them of planning to attack targets in southern Ontario with bombs made from the fertilizer ammonium nitrate.
Windows at the mosque were smashed and the front door was broken sometime on Saturday night or early Sunday morning, Slimi said.
No one was hurt, nothing inside was damaged and there was no looting or spray-painting, he said.
But Slimi said the vandalism came as a shock at the mosque, which is in the northwest Rexdale neighbourhood and has as many as 20,000 members.
The mosque has good relations with its neighbours, he said.
The mosque, which includes a food bank and school, was forced to cancel Sunday school classes and food distribution because of the broken glass, Slimi said.
Mississauga's Muslims fear backlash
Even before the report of the vandalism, the Muslim community in Mississauga — a city just west of Toronto —had been expressing concern about reactions to the arrests.
Six of the adult suspects and some of the young offenders had been living in the city.
Waiting for his son outside the Muslim Community Centre in Mississauga, Nadeem Mian said he moved back to Canada because of the anti-Muslim backlash in New York City after the al-Qaeda attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
"It was bad, it was really, really bad. That's why I'm here in Mississauga," he said.
He said he hopes his neighbours will withhold judgment until the justice system takes its course.
But Akeem Quzi, 12, said there have already been some incidents.
While he and other boys were inside the mosque studying the Qur'an Saturday, some children outside kept banging on the windows, he said.

The DT is quite frank about the threat that Britain faces. Meanwhile, the security forces are doing as much as they can. But no one has begun to ask questions that really matter.
1. Is this threat going to increase with time and/or with increasing number of muslims in Britain?
2. Is the threat a short-lived one, and that in a decade or so, or even 50 years, the threat will pass for good?
3. As all such threats cannot be averted, and it is unlikely that muslims will cooperate to spy on their fellow muslims, who in their eyes are following islam to the letter, what are we to do?
One option Nadeem Mian that you should consider, is moving back to dar ul islam (Pakistan?). You will much safer there, and so will we.

Of course it was a shock; dhimmis aren't supposed to do things like that. Dhimmis are supposed to humble themselves and kiss the fundaments of every Mohammedan. How dare we take our frustrations out on the very symbol of Mohammedan Jim Crow. If the "backlash" escalates and a few Mohammedans die of perforated stomachs - so what. We must question the loyalties of all Mohammedans until we are satisfied that they are no threat.
Britian should give any muslim that wants to go to Iraq, Iran or any country in the middle east, free passage with no return allowed.

I would suggest for a start , place Islam on the trash of history. Outlaw it's pratice, in doing so it will start down the path of the Nazi, KKK, and focus can then be seen on the enemy.

I used to live in downtown Toronto, and am just west of there now. Mississauga (or Mississaugastan, or Mississaugladesh, if you will) has become do drenched in immigrants that decent people I know have moved further outside the zone. They are not racists. They are not anti-anything! They simply find that all this piecework of jumbled cultures is not for them. I think what many people don't reflect on is that these worms don't care about our culture. They don't see our logic when we say "why come here and change it to the filth you left?" This assumes they want to be free, and/or free of the filth and oppression. They don't. They wish to milk us for what we have and hold dear, and destroy it. The thing that makes me feel there is hope is that only the media and the politicians are pussy-footing...the common citizen knows exactly what is up, and they have their own internal feelings...soon, very soon, push will come to shove. As you've read elsewhere, the West has not even begun to fight. We are still trying to figure out what the nature of the threat is!

Taranus, I don't mean to split hairs, but these people are not traitors because they were never British. There was never any question as to where there loyalties lay. From day one there was no attempt at assimilating. They live in their own self imposed enclaves, a lot of the women don't speak English. Certainly there was no attempt on the part of the British state to ask for loyalty. Perhaps there shouldn't be such a need? You would think that by choosing to stay in someone else's country that you are endorsing it, at least you're saying you're OK with it. In response to your ignorant and plain stupid post. I would like to reply, since I am Nadeem Mian the person in the interview. Firstly, if you read carefully, I moved back to Canada......meaning I am a Canadian, born and raised...... meaning the U.S. was never my native country, so my decision to come back to Canada was an easy and logical one.
If that same atmosphere we to come here to Canada, I would stand up to it because I am citizen and have a legitimate voice, whereas in the U.S. I did not.
And why should I go back to Pakistan? By that logic why don't we send all these African American criminals back to Africa? But here's a trickey one, where would you send Tim Mcveigh and the rest of his Michigan Miltia bunch?
