CAIR, WAMY to launch massive propaganda campaign

Of course, they don't endeavor to dispel "Islamophobia" by doing any ignificant organized work among Muslims to curb the influence of the jihad ideology that gives rise to violence done in the name of Islam. "Media Campaign in US to Dispel Islamophobia," from Arab News, with thanks to LGF:

RIYADH, 21 June 2006 — A survey conducted by Cornell University recently found that around half of Americans have a negative view of Islam and would like the US government to curtail the political activity of Muslims in the US.

Addressing a press conference at the headquarters of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), Paul Findley, a former US Congressman, said that the cancer of anti-Muslim and anti-Islamic sentiments was spreading in American society and requires corrective measures to stamp out this malaise.

It was also announced that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) would be launching a massive $50 million media campaign involving television, radio and newspapers as part of its five-year program to create a better understanding of Islam and Muslims in the US.

Referring to the anti-Islamic sentiments in the US, Findley said that the campaign was being spearheaded by a tiny but influential section of society, including some politicians, academics and opinion-makers.

Findley commended CAIR’s initiative that he said could go a long way toward improving the image of Islam and Muslims, which has been badly dented in part due to the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Hooper (not Cooper) is happy with how the media has been so compliant:

Speaking on his interaction with the US media, Ibrahim Cooper, spokesman for CAIR, said that his own feeling was that American journalists are receptive to issues affecting Muslims. For this reason, nearly all American newspapers, print or online, refrained from reproducing the caricature of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that were at the center of a controversy earlier this year. He said CAIR took advantage of the issue by distributing DVDs free of charge, bringing out a book on the Prophet, and launching an awareness campaign.

“All of this had a positive impact,” said Cooper.

But all is still not well:

Parvez Ahmed, CAIR chairman, spoke on what he described as the most “vicious attacks on Islam” he has ever seen in recent years, adding that the campaign is being orchestrated by a minority fringe element in the US seeking to drive a xenophobic wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Orchestrated. He has fifty million dollars, I have a weblog, and he's worried about orchestrated attacks. Of course, I shouldn't assume that he has me in mind at all, since I don't engage in "vicious attacks on Islam." I merely report on what Muslims do and say, and what the Islamic texts say. If that is a "vicious attack," it is because of those things, not because of me.

He said a minority of Muslim extremists helps perpetuate anti-Muslim sentiment in the US, but that it is wrong for Americans to rush to conclusions based on these groups that have distorted or misinterpreted Qur’anic text. He compared it to making judgments on Christians based on the Crusades.

About whether those groups have really distorted or misinterpreted the Qur'an, and why it matters, and about the Crusades as well, see here.

Elaborating on the CAIR campaign to dispel misunderstandings of Islam and Muslims, Nihad Awad, CAIR executive director, said that his group proposes to spend $10 million annually for five years in a media campaign. He said that CAIR would also recruit volunteers and produce educational material as part of its initiative.

“We are planning to meet Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal for his financial support to our project. He has been generous in the past,” he added.

You will recall that he is the man who had his money returned, for good reason, by Rudolph Giuliani after 9/11.

And as for WAMY, LGF ran this story in 2003 about their jihad camps in Ontario.

Islamist Cleric on Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal's New TV Channel: ‘The West's Conflict With Islam & Muslims is Eternal - a Preordained Destiny That Cannot Be Avoided Until Judgment Day’

It's laughable how the Arab world or their apologists here in the US will say that people have "islamaphobia" for no good reason. Golly gee, we just don't know why, must be irrational bigotry that we need to stamp out .lol
Let me spell it out straight up

-Muslims commit 90% of the terrorist attacks around the world and 80% of the world's conflicts today

-After 911 or any terrorist attack anywhere, where is the Muslim outcry?? There is none, the Muslims are strangely silent in their condemnation while others partially blame the victims. We've all heard the statements from Muslim ie. 'I don't condone terrorism but....sound familiar?

-In the year after 911, the name Osama was the 3rd most popular name given to male babies born in the Muslim world, these are just your average non-terrorist, run-of-the-mill Muslims mind you.

-The Muslim world routinely preaches hate for Americans, Jews, Christians, the West etc...but hey that's ok.

--Anytime Muslims are up against non-Muslims within a society, there is trouble with a capital T. Muslims can't live an let live, they've always got to try and take over and force their ways on the non-Muslims.

--look at Muslims countries...honor killings, jailing or killing women who are raped, genial mutilations, not much if any freedom of religion or speech, oppressing women etc.etc.

That is why Americans have a negative view of Islam and for good reason so stop(Arabs/apologists) acting like ...oh gosh just can't imagine why..blah blah blah

"It was also announced that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) would be launching a massive $50 million media campaign"

I wonder if that figure could be matched from among the readers of anti-jihad websites such as this one,to launch a counter-campaign,telling the truth about CAIR and Islam to the same audience.
Any ideas on if or how it could be done?

I am just curious. Is there any campaign to "dispel the misunderstandings of Hinduism and Hindus." Or "Judaism and Jews." Or "Buddhism and Buddhists."

Goes to show that CAIR and other Muslim organizations are starting to "panic" because Americans are begining to wake up to the truth about Islam thanks to the internet, books, and other sources.

arjun.sevak:

There are a multitude of campaigns to dispel the misunderstandings of the way Jews, Hindus, Bhuddists, Christians, Confusians, and any other non-Muslim religious denomination understand and represent the word of their respective diety or dieties. Primarily, they call it dawa and jihad.

La Frontera asked:

No way – JW does not have 50 million in Saudi petro-dollars to throw at worthy proselytizing causes within the borders of its arch enemy (and energy slave). Of course the Saudi oil baron sheiks would not have those bottomless resources in the first place were it not for its suckling pig, the U.S.A., and her addiction to more and more fossil fuel to support her luxuriant lifestyle habits.

Apparently the ruling family in S.A. loves to keep the suckling pig. It's made them very rich, fat and sassy, and they don't have to live in tents along with the camels. Living in buildings, it's easier for wives to keep their men's dresses cleaner and whites whiter. And I'm very sure it's easier to sweep tile floors than it is to sweep sand floors.

But, with the way islam keeps their people centuries behind civilization, it won't be long till the suckling pig gets weaned and the poor muslims go back to their tents.

Good news. The Eurodhimmis are waking up. :)

I fail to see Europe "waking up" in the FT article.

Shy Guy,
"Unlike in the past, however, when European leaders would have been scared to side with Mr Bush against their own public opinion, yesterday they rushed to his defence. Mr Schüssel said: “I think it is grotesque to say America is a threat to the world compared with North Korea, Iran and other countries.”

Read the article, this is right at the bottom.

From the article: "Findley commended CAIR’s initiative that he said could go a long way toward improving the image of Islam and Muslims, which has been badly dented in part due to the events of Sept. 11, 2001."

As if the "events of Sept. 11" were some kind of natural disaster, like a flood or an earthquake. Islam is as Islam does.

I do believe that Mr. Spencer can achieve more with 5 million $. These bums won't be able to achive 10% of it for 50. Now, if we can just find a sponsor for JW.

Freewoman:

Let’s hope so, as these former Bedouin are much better suited to the harsh sands of the great desert than the refined amenities of Western Civilization.

This direct link between the mind set of the Arab Bedouin and his desert surroundings is made frighteningly clear by a Frenchman, Andre’ Servier, in his 1923 book: ‘Islam and the Psychology of the Musulman’ - http://musulmanbook.blogspot.com/

“For any comprehensive knowledge of Islam and the Musulman, it is necessary to study the Desert-The ArabIan Desert -The Bedouin-The influence of the Desert-Nomadism -The dangerous life-Warrior and bandit-Fatalism--Endurance-Insensibility-The spirit of independence-Semitic anarchy-Egoism-Social organization-The tribe -Semitic pride-Sensuality-The ideal-Religion-Lack of imagination-Essential characteristics of the Bedouin.

To know and understand he Musulman, We must study Islam. To know and under-stand Islam, we must study the Bedouin of Arabia; and to know and understand the Bedouin, we must study the Desert. For the desert environment explains the special mentality of the .Bedouin, his conception of existence, his qualities and his defects. Consequently it explains Islam, a secretion of the Arab brain; and finally it explains the Musulman that Islam has run into its rigid mould.”

While you see the cup half full, I see the cup 3/4 empty.

You're getting excited because Europeans don't equate the US with NK and Iran.

Great expectations!

Whatever CAIR, WAMY or anyone else says, their propaganda dawa will be played out at the same time as continuous Jihadist atrocities which will not stop. In a marketing sense it will be so simple as to be a no brainer to associate the lies of one with the facts of the other. Let CAIR do their best.

When such groups as CAIR and their dhimmi lackeys attempt to preach to other faith groups they should be rejected and done so on the basis of the facts they try to ignore and gloss over. There will be squeals of indignation and the usual accompanying sinister threats, the intolerance exuding only from one side. One only has to state some facts about the "liberal" and loving nature of Islam in the country of the main funder of CAIR in this case Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal of Saudi Arabia, drawing attention to this cruel, corrupt and despotic fiefdom.

Islam is world class in its lies, hypocrisy, violence, hatred for non-believers, misogyny and arrogant self belief. CAIR's campaign can do nothing else but reaffirm these facts. This is not islamophobia. This is the truth.

Robert is too polite to bring this up himself. We should all be using the "donation button" on his web site to support his good works and the prodigious efforts of Hugh, Rebecca, and staff (that probably is the whole staff). The greatest weapon against Islamic depradation is the unvarnished truth about its teachings and its history. Blessings to all at JW/DW.

I wonder where this $50 mil will be spent. I'll be damned if I buy any magazine or watch any network that runs some of this CAIR propaganda.

I wonder if we can find out ahead of time where CAIR plans to place their messages and urge these media not to accept advertising from the enemy. Print, broadcast, cable, outdoor--anything. A little rumbling from us Islamophobes and they may stay away from such controversial advertisers. Even CNN.

What great news when they are having to spend $50,000,000, it just shows how ineffective there campaign has been up to present to con the American Public and just how inevective there lies have been.

Stendec,

Don't forget Marisol. :-)

I would contribute to a counter educational campaign. All you would need is a good brochure and hand them out at the mall or similar place. I'm sure RS could design such a brochure if the money was there.

descendantofacrusader

Very good. To understand Mohammad (curse be upon him) and Islam one must understand the harsh desert it emanates from. Arab Muslims can live in mega slum cities like Cairo but you cannot take the Bedouin mentality out of them.

Dennisw:

Yes, Arab Muslim/Bedouins can also live (unfortunately) in many other places besides Cairo like: London, Madrid, Paris, New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, L.A., Portland, Davison, Clear Lake, Twin Lakes…………on & on & on ………you name it….and that is truly problem! They do not assimilate but do in fact adapt quite well to their host cities and countries. I could carry this even further but I’m sure that you get the picture of where this gruesome analogy could be headed!

Well, that's $50 million that won't be going to make homicide bomb belts.

They can spend all the money they want, mates. The fact remains that Muslims around the world show what they are made of every day.

This is a waste of everyone's time and money. The best way to combat this is to go after the brown eyed mullets who are involved in this campaign, CAIR.

Discredit them even more than they've already been discredited. No matter how nice something sounds, when it comes from a horse's ass, it still stinks.

This will be the third propaganda campaign to improve the image of Islam in the US.I remember the "Saudi's are our friends" television campaign from a few years ago and CAIRs previous nationwide ad campaign. Both campaigns fell flat because they played against the background of bombings in America, Isreal, Iraq, Bali, Madrid, and London. Not to mention cartoon riots and the recent butchering of two US soldiers.People aren't stupid and most no longer believe that Islam is a "religion of peace".Prior to Sept 11, 2001 when Muslims began killing infidels worldwide no one even cared about Islam. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots between Islam's image problems and the ummah's penchant for violence, intolerence, hate and extremism.

I suspect this new PR campaign will fall flat just as the previous two did. I'm struck that again and again Muslims feel that they only have a PR problem that can be fixed by throwing money at it, meanwhile people are dying everyday because of Muslim violence. The fact that they think their problems can be fixed with a PR campaign is evidence of their lack of sincerity.

"Parvez Ahmed, CAIR chairman, spoke on what he described as the most “vicious attacks on Islam” he has ever seen in recent years, adding that the campaign is being orchestrated by a minority fringe element in the US seeking to drive a xenophobic wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims."

That "wedge" in the form of swords, expolsives, ropes, firearms, and the Koran has been around for 1400 years.

I have a piggybank and a computer. Is that enough to fight Islamic terror?

Ibrahim must really fear my poorman's truth-peddling about Islam to be spending so much Muslim cash. I think I'll keep typing. If I ever get funded, then he'll run out of money.

"I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future...But I'm not going to do anything violent to promote that. I'm going to do it through education."

Ibrahim "Dougie" Hooper - CITR mouth piece (Council on Islamic Terrorist Relations)

Suuure Dougie - $50 million to spread islamic mythology. I'm educating people too and it costs me nothing to tell the truth.

Roxane:

I respect your optimism:
“So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots between Islam's image problems and the ummah's penchant for violence, intolerance, hate and extremism.”

I wish we, Western Civilization, were that smart or simply had the simple courage to ‘see the writing on the wall’. Micelle Malkin aptly put it the other day when she referred to Americans as ‘as a nation of ostriches’” in relation to our morbid refusal to see this Islamofascist parody for what it is.

As far as a CAIR lead Islamo-PR Campaign’s chances of success: I figure the probability stands at close to 100% in view of the very successfull charade over the past 1400 years!

Descendant,

I based my comments not on optimism but on the facts as I see them, along with the results of the previous two PR campaigns by the Saudis and CAIR which both flopped. Given that recent surveys show that negative perceptions about Islam in the US have increased not decreased since CAIRs last PR campaign I have no reason to believe that CAIRs new campaign will be anymore successful.

If you look at the weeks after 9/11, it would impossible for the president to say "we are fighting muslims and their ideology". This would make no sense in the politically correct world and many people would think he (and the US) were crazy. In order to win this whole thing we need to evolve slowly in order to involve more folks in the struggle. If you've noticed the pundits have gone from "war on terror" to "waar on islamic extremism" and now "war on islamofascism", some even calling it islamonazism. It's a slow evolution that needs to take place in order to convert the people that are still under the guise of "islam is a religion of peace". It's like trying to teach someone to use their left hand after using their right for so long...it takes time. I predict over the next few years as the public becomes more educated, thanks to internet and talk radio, that more people will be joining the jihadwatch side and ignoring the prappgaganda that CAIR will be spilling out. For every "peace-filled" TV commercial Cair broadcasts, there needs to be an equal dose of "hate-filled" video or audio produced by Alqaeda broadcast right afterwards. We should buy commercial time and display the rantings of OBL, Zawahiri, and all the Muslims chanting for death to America and the west. Show them in crowds and their pullpits. See if CAIR could explain those things away. SHOW the Islamic Thinkers Society! SHOW the MEMRI news interviews that most of the public is not privvy to. We don't have to counter with anti-islamic things, we can counter with showing the public their true colors, from their own mouths. We need to somehow turn our small forum, into a big one, using their own words against them.

"Now, if we can just find a sponsor for JW."
-- from a posting above by arjun

Any Tatas in the JW audience? Any former Maharanis, willing to part with a family jewel or two as a way of helping India? Any Sarofims, Copts who want to cut to the chase, and show the Infidels what Copts have endured is what all non-Muslims will ultimately endure? Any Fribourgs, any Weils, Weills, Dreyfuses, Safras, with ties to France and presence here, unwilling quite yet to see that country become a no-go zone, if not now, then in 20, 30, 30 years? After all, there are children, there are grandchildren. Any one from or in England, who knows what's what, who can't be fooled, now reading this, who doesn't like the idea of simply letting down the side, that is to say the land where Shakespeare followed his bliss and Hardy painted a skimmington-ride, and Isaac Rosenberg studied at the Slade, and Adam delved, and Eve span, and Turner scumbled, and Gombrich studied, and Lewis Carroll walked Cher-wards with little Liddells, and Bentley annotated, and Porson drank, and Dickens visited the Marshalsea and reported on Parliament, and once, in Cambridge, England, the physicist Paul Dirac gave a laconic lecture, and afterwards, at question-time, someone got up and said "I'm afraid I didn't understand what it was you said about quantum spin" and there was silence from P. A. M. Dirac, and then more silence and finally the moderator prodded -- "I think he's waiting for your answer" and Dirac explained "He did not ask a question. He made a statement."

Yes, England, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and all the rest, including long-suffering (about a thousand years of Muslim-infliected suffering) India, in the same boat.

At this website one finds on offer the most cost-effective way to educate the mass audience on what matters most about Islam. With a human, hempen homespun touch withal. Everything fresh-baked each monring, fresh from the mental oven. Or, in honor of the news that Mont St. Michel will become an island again, we may vary the metaphor. Think of the principals here as self-effacing monks, laboring (Ora et Labora) in the holy hush of the scriptorium, and then producing, day after day, not so much a blogsite as an illuminating mansucript.

The brushes, the parchment, the inks for those rubricated letters (especially that blue), the food in the refectory, the rough cloth of the robes, the medical insurance and sky-high tuition bills --oh, it costs, it all costs.

One hopes that those who visit here this will begin to ponder the value received, as compared say, to the value received from answering the latest dunning letter from some well-endowed university to which you happen to have gone, and that always wants more, more, more, but the very existence of which will be called into question, made more tenuous, if large parts of the Western world continue to be islamized, with all that that implies for artistic expression, for free and skeptical inquiry, for the idea of the individual. Collectivism is on the march, and not for the first time. Help us, in the absence of government leaders exhibiting the necessary wit, to throw as many spanners into that belief-system's apparently plausible works as we can.

And at no extra cost, this month only, donors will receive a phone call, and in that phone call I will impart to that donor a Simple Solution to the Universe. Or if you prefer, it will be faxed. That is, a reasonable facsimile thereof will be.

Operators are standing by.

Roxane:

No offense intended. I hope your view of ‘the facts as you see them’ proves entirely correct in regards the unsuccess of CAIR’s new PR campaign. However, the American Public has not come very far in recognizing the facts since being bitten by the Islamic cobra on 9/11 compared to the extent of righteous wrath we should be feeling today after such a heinous hostility. We may not be the suckers we once were but I’m thinkin we’re still suckers – just slightly less so. Even Mr. Bush, at least the last I knew, is still trying to convince us that Islam is ‘a religion of peace’ and totally separate from the ‘misinterpreters’ - ‘the terrorists’. Maybe Mr. Hooper and his ‘peaceful’ minions at CAIR will be unsuccessful at getting us to swallow more venom but I wonder.

This is my favorite line from the article:

"...the image of Islam and Muslims, which has been badly dented in part due to the events of Sept. 11, 2001."

BADLY DENTED!!!! Just a little fender bender folks.

Also, read the LGF article, that was referenced, about the WAMY camps.

"Special Agent Kane quoted from a publication prepared by the Camps and Conferences Unit of WAMY that said: “Hail! Hail! O Sacrificing Soldiers! To Us! To Us! So we may defend the flag on this Day of Jihad, are you miserly with your blood?! And has life become dearer to you? And staying behind sweeter?”

The special agent said 14- to 18-year-olds are the target audience for these teachings."

As noted in the article, this was one of their publications. Is this guy going to spearhead the new public relations campaign?

Fifty million dollars-worth of taqiyya? There's one hell of a worm in that bottle. Marguaritas, anyone?

Brian the Lionhearted-

You could print out these two webpages and leave them as "brochures" wherever you please:

Cheers!

It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen and Islam is a religion of peace.

Thanks profitsbeard,

Copies of the 'brochures' will be left around Sydney !!!

"Nihad Awad, CAIR executive director, said that his group proposes to spend $10 million annually for five years in a media campaign."

$10 million?

That's a 60 second commercial during the Super Bowl.

Whoop-a-dee doo.

It will be very interesting to see what techniques and ploys CAIR and WHAMY use in their propaganda campaigns. I have a feeling that they will focus on children, both in the ads they broadcast and as their target audience. Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable, malleable segment of society and if their minds can be influenced early enough, they will be much easier to seduce as adults. Parents should be vigilant and prepared to unindoctrinate their kids should they be exposed to the forthcoming taquiyya assault.

If Muslims can launch a massive PR campaign to deceive the public about Islam, couldn't a campaign to refute their lies be launched at the same time, like campaign ads? As we witness before each election, every candidate is systematically ripped apart by his rival and it's left to the voters to decide who is telling the truth. With Islam's track record, it won't be too difficult for the public to pick sides. There must be some gazillionaire out there who would pitch in to save Western Civilization, and who would be willing to give the prince a run for his money.

WShere is the $50 million coming from???????

"couldn't a campaign to refute their lies be launched at the same time, like campaign ads?"
-- from a posting above

A question of dindi, fric, moolah, the green stuff. Apparently donors have so many more important things to donate money to -- colleges where "cutting-edge" scholarship goes on at the "frontiers of knowledge" (newly-appointed offices for Cornel West, a special new program for Bright Young Muslim Reformers, the raises for Walt and Mearsheimer, travel grants galore, and the teaching load is far too high, isn't it? -- and don't forget the video-performance gallery to be added to that new wing of the museum. And then don't forget world hunger and world poverty, which are both going to be cured by the polypragmosynic Jeffery Sachs, with his personal World Institute -- or is it Bill Clinton, with his Clinton World Project? I forget.
