A group of Palestinian children were sent towards the Gaza Strip border fence holding toy guns on Thursday in order to test the vigilance of the soldiers on duty.From a distance, troops noticed four apparently armed Palestinians approaching the border north of the Kissufim crossing.
When the four were some 400 meters from the fence, the soldiers realized that they were children, who looked to be about 13 years of age, and that their guns were toys.
What surprises me most about this story is not that the Israelis didn't shoot the kids as they approached their position but that Hamas Operatives wearing blue helmets and hiding inside a nearby UN Ambulance filming the whole thing didn't shoot the kids in the back so they could blame it on the Jews.

Immediately afterwards Karzai, playing the old double game, decided to prove his fealty towards his Muslim brothers by angrily demanding an explanation (for an operation he was certainly fully aware of) and amplifing and attempting to exploit Muslim "outrage" at this incident to keep the US in line. His demands for explanations were very swift and public.
Imagine his chagrin when within mere days an simple accident involving US personell devolved into a near insurrection in Kabul. Reports vary, but anywhere from 1500 to 8000 people began rampaging, burning, and looting -- all shouting pro-Taliban love and anti-American hatred. HE is the one who agitated this new flare up of an old Muslim hatred. HE is the one who nearly toppled himself by trying to ride the tiger of Muslim rage.
How thankless and bitter the job of trying to help these people fix their utterly broken everything.
Shoot them now or wait 5 years when they have real guns.

I’ve just learned to my absolute horror and utter disgust that the Association of University Teachers in Britain (my home country) passed a resolution a few days ago encouraging an academic boycott of Israel. No such boycott exists, or is to be considered, against countries like Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, only against democratic Israel.
What can one say when faced with such arrant stupidity and blinkered hatred by representatives of the so-called academic community in Britain? I really despair.
The sponsor of the motion is a certain Tom Hicke, a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Brighton. He argued at the conference that, "The majority of Israeli academics are either complicit or acquiescent in the Israeli policies in the occupied territories."
A Google search on the aforementioned philosophy lecture revealed the following details of a talk he gave in Brighton on 14 October 2004:

With this issue in mind, Let us not forget the Marines that the mainstream media and John Murtha are trying to crucify over the Haditha incident. As a veteran Marine, I just want to commend our young Marines for the job that they're doing in spite of the incredible odds working against them. I hear reports from many different Marines that come back from Iraq. They are facing insurrmountable odds with valor and courage. The combat conditions are worst than the combat conditions in the Nam. But our young Marines never fuss, never faulter, never quit! They know only to do the job that they are ordered to do. Those orders are to seek out the enemy and destroy him/her! It's not the fault of the Marines in question if the enemy is a cowardly lot and conceal themselves amonst the general population. Our Marines don't have the luxury of time when under fire. They don't have the time to check to see if and person is carrying a toy weapon or a real one. Especially in a town where a terrorist leader is hiding out. And just like in Baghdad with the pregnant woman and her cousin driver. As much as the liberals want to rail on the Marines in this incident, the area was clearly marked as a militarized zone. If a person is given an order to stop numerous times and refuses to obey those orders, what is a Marine to do? Seeing how Islamofeces like to disguise themselves as civilians, you lock, load, and fire until the order is obey! The Marines know from first hand experience how the enemy will use homicide car bombs to strike at them.
The liberal mainstream media can continue to be on the side of the Islamofeces/terrorists. I'm on the side of our young men and women in uniform. I'm proud of the young Marines that have come after me, serving our country. Putting their lives on the line and putting themselves into harms way to help bring freedom to others. John Murtha, his fellow liberals in Congress, and the mainstream liberal press are doing their best to destroy the morall of the troops in Iraq. There are investigations into the actions of the Marines, but no leatherneck has been charged with any wrong doing. In light of what had/was taking place, I personally believe that the Marines reacted in a professional and couragous manner. This was obviously a case where terrorist insurgents used women and children to provide cover-like they have soooo many other times before. And who's to say that the victims may not have been dead before the Marines showed up? Who's to say that the very witnesses that the liberal media questioned weren't insurgent simpathizers or insurgents themselves? Who's to say that the witnesses didn't do the killing?
Another Marine that died two months earlier, LCpl Brandon Dewey, reported that woman and children in the area of the Sunni triangle had been throwing explosives at Marines. This and other information could have easily checked out by the same reporters that are willing to crucify our Marines in the world court of opinion. Once again, our young men and women of the military are doing a brilliant job. Too bad the media won't do accurate reporting on the jihadists. We, the freedom loving folks of the Free World know for sure that the jihadist are merciless in their treatment of innocent non-combatant civilians, especially how they treat the reporters that they capture.
