Zarqawi's relatives pray for a multiplication of the Tiny Minority of Extremists™. From Reuters:
ZARQA, Jordan (Reuters) - In the bleak Jordanian city where Abu Musab al-Zarqawi grew up, shocked relatives mourned the al Qaeda leader's death as a loss to Islam and prayed for 1,000 "Zarqawis" to fight the Americans in his place."This is a tragedy. We are all sad here," said Zarqawi's uncle, Yazm Khalayleh, 64.
"We have to be sad because he was fighting the infidels. Anyone who says he is not sad is lying; people believe he is a martyr. We do not want to believe that he is dead."...
Relatives and neighbors hailed Zarqawi as a hero of Islam and hoped his death would not impede the insurgency in Iraq.
"God willing there will be 1,000 Zarqawis to fight the Americans," another relative, Ahmed Khalayleh, told Reuters.
Wanna bet there are going to be "special sermons" and late night "prayer meetings" at the least in Western countries, and screaming sermons in islamic countries.
I thought his family condemned him and said that he was no longer a part of the family. Remember when he attacked inside Jordan, and there was a letter to one of the local papers written by his family, which said that he was no longer considered part of the family. It might have been his tribe though.
Does anybody else remember that?
Does anybody else remember that?
I do,him being dead brought him back to their good graces,i guess
If there are more Zarqawis to operate in Iraq than there will be more Muslims murdered including women and children in the name of Allah. Zarqawi spent more time killing Iraqi muslims not really making any distinction between whether they where Sheites'or Sunnis'.
There is your hero, a man who murderd other Muslims at will and against people who had no chance to defend themselves.
Death is too good for this beast who has sawed off heads and ordered the murders of countless innocent men, women and children. Conventional, unimaginative torture would have been too good as well.
Dan- Of course they always condem these guys to western press, make them all not look like fanatics, then seemingly everytime one of the mujahid gets killed they seem to show up in droves for his passing. The Religion demands for death of infidels! So we should never be surpised any devot muslim really holds these men in highest esteem all-the-time.
Note to SAC:
Add Zarqa, Jordan, to targets Mecca, Medina and Tehran.
Killing Zarqawi maybe the easy part.
Waking up the "moderates" about this dangerous cult maybe the harder thing to do.
Only Islam can twist the Truth so well if you have read the Bible you will see the flaw in this..............Many years passed but Abraham and his wife were not blessed with any children. In the hope that there would be a child, and in keeping with tradition, Sarah suggested that Abraham should marry Hagar, her Egyptian handmaid. Soon after this took place, Hagar had a little boy named Ishmael.
Some time later Allah promised Abraham another son, but this time the mother of the child would be his first wife, Sarah. This second son would be called lsaac. Allah also told Abraham that from his two sons-lshmael and lsaac-two nations and three religions would be founded and because of this he must take Hagar and lshmael away from Palestine to a new land. These events were an important part of Allah's plan, for the descendants of lshmael would form a nation from which would come a great Prophet, who would guide the people in the way of Allah. This was to be Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, p.b.u.h. From the descendants of Sarah's child, lsaac, would come Moses and Jesus.
So it was that Abraham, Hagar, and lshmael left Palestine. They traveled for many days until finally they reached the arid valley of Bacca (later to be called Mecca), which was on one of the great caravan routes. There was no water in the valley and although Hagar and lshmael only had a small supply of water left, Abraham left them there knowing Allah would take care of them.
Soon all the water was gone. The child began to grow weak from thirst. There were two hills nearby, one called Safa and the other Marwah. Hagar went up one hill and looked into the distance to see if she could find any water, but found none. So she went to the other hill and did the same. She did this seven times. Then sadly she returned to her son, and to her great surprise and joy she found a spring of water bubbling out of the earth near him. This spring, near which the mother and child settled, was later called Zamzam. The area around it became a place of rest for the caravans traveling across the desert and in time grew into the famous trading city of Mecca.
From time to time Abraham traveled from Palestine to visit his family and he saw Ishmael grow into a strong young man. It was during one of these visits that Allah commanded them to rebuild the Ka'bah-the very first place where people had worshipped Allah.
They were told exactly where and how to build it. It was to be erected by the well of Zamzam and built in the shape of a cube. In its eastern corner was to be placed a black stone that had fallen to earth from heaven. An angel brought the stone to them from the nearby hill of Abu Qubays.
Abraham and Ishmael worked hard to rebuild the Ka'bah and as they did so they prayed to Allah to send a Prophet from among their descendants.
And when Abraham and Ishmael were raising the foundations of the House, (Abraham prayed): 'Our Lord! Receive this from us; Thou, only Thou, art the All-hearing, the All-knowing; Our Lord! And make us submissive unto Thee and of our seed a nation submissive unto Thee, and show us our ways of worship, and turn toward us. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Relenting, the Merciful. Our Lord! And raise up in their midst a messenger from among them who shall recite unto them Thy revelations, and shall instruct them in the Scripture and in wisdom and shall make them grow. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, Wise.
(Koran ii. 127-9)
When the Ka'bah was completed, Allah commanded Abraham to call mankind to pilgrimage to His Holy House. Abraham wondered how anyone could hear his call. Allah said, 'You call and I will bring them.' This was how the pilgrimage to the Ka 'bah in Mecca was established and when Muslims make the pilgrimage today they continue to answer the age-old call of Abraham.

Gee, only 1,000 Zarqawi's to replace him? Al-Qaida was promising 2 million!
Not to mention, reports from Zarqawi's neighbors was that he was a "half-wit" and a loser. Duh

"We have to be sad because he was fighting the infidels."-Uncle Yazm Khalayleh
To treat a belief as if it is a fact is to be devoid of rationality. It's amazing.
Just as China rid itself of footbinding for women in the past 100 years, Islam must rid itself of the kind of irrational supremacist-intolerance that is deeply programed into Uncle Yazm Khalayleh and other Muslims who see non-believers as "infidels."
There must be complete equality of religious rights (begining in Saudi Arabia), freedom of concience in matters of belief, and free speech: the unlimited human right of every person to reason and to express thoughts and opinions based on reason. Only when Islam calls for these things will it cease to be a danger to itself and unbelievers.
The Sharia-Dhimmi-Jihad-footbinding of Muslim heads must end or Islam will end in the Mid East (probably as a result of a nuclear retaliation by Isreal after an attack against that "Infidel" nation).
Muslims-it's time to differentiate belief from fact and not treat them as if they are the same thing. It's time to reason.
I'm late to this, so I'll pick it up from here. Zarqawi's death - couldn't have happened to a nicer man, although Osama and Ayman come close.
Disappointing was Tony Snow's interview where he stated that the "security" plans in Iraq would be the result of a summit between the US and Iraqi leaders. This would be another wasted opportunity. This is the perfect pretext for the US to pull out of Iraq without looking like it's defeated.
Strange religion where the "martyrs" go to hell and the believers rejoice.
Should we consider a few daisy cutters at Abu's funeral if several thousand supporters show up carrying AK47s and grenade launchers. These people always protest or show support by carrying weapons and gleefully shooting in the air and burning American flags.
An astute military commander might consider this a valuable target of opportunity to eliminate a sizeable portion of the opposition force that continues to assasinate whoever they can find and to ambush and kill American and coalition forces.
If no military action is taken, maybe we could secretly photograph all who show up for future reference.
You do recall, Abu had no qualms about attacking funeral processions in order to run up his body count.
May all of Zarqawi's virgins look like Yasser Arafat.
May all of the copycat Zarqawis' virgins look like Helen Thomas.

Leader's Aide: Jews are A Filthy People
June 8….(YNET) Jews are filthy people, and that is why they have been accused throughout history of spreading deadly disease and plagues, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s advisor Mohammad Ali Ramin told students during a visit at the town of Rasht, the Iranian news site Rooz Online reported Thursday. Ramin, a historian who serves as the president's most senior aide, is believed to be the man behind the regime's recent statements that the Holocaust is a myth. Historically, there are many accusations against the Jews. For example it was said that they were the source for such deadly disease as the plague and typhus. This is because the Jews are very filthy people. For a time people also said that they poisoned water wells belonging to Christians and thus killed them,” the site quoted Ramin as saying. “I only know that Jews have been accused of such conspiracies and sabotage throughout history and have not performed well," he added. Ramin reiterated past statements made by President Ahamadinejad regarding the Holocaust, saying it was the cause for the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, and claimed that Israel is responsible for Middle East crisis. “So long as Israel exists in the region there will never be peace and security in the Middle East,” he said adding, “so the resolution of the Holocaust issue will end in the destruction of Israel.”.....( These are the people our country feels we can deal with?)
I thought his family condemned him and said that he was no longer a part of the family. Remember when he attacked inside Jordan, and there was a letter to one of the local papers written by his family, which said that he was no longer considered part of the family. It might have been his tribe though.
Does anybody else remember that?
Sure. Not that long ago either. Directly after the suicide bombing last year in Jordan that blew up the Jordanian wedding party. Even made the news on Al-jazeera as I recall.
Guess that must have been just dissembling to keep the Jordanian King's police force at bay.
STORAGEMANAGER Ahmaredstaightjacket is off his rocker, the Jews survived the Black Death in disprportionate numbers largely because of the quality of Kosher food and their dilligence to hygiene.
I can't beleive anyone is sucking up to this worse than Hilter regime.
POLICE TARGET MUSLIMS, WILL YOU BE NEXT?
DEMONSTRATION FRIDAY 9th JUNE '06, 2PM ONWARDS
@Forest Gate Police Station, East London
There is little doubt left in the minds of the majority of Muslims that we are a community under siege. On the domestic front the British regime have brought in a range of draconian laws targeted specifically at Muslims and which facilitate the kind of oppressive tactics we saw employed on Friday. ....( this would be a great time to show those pics of zarq and show the world how he was murdered by the Zionist pigs....yes yes rally for Zarq!
http://www.alghurabaa.co.uk/
And I'm praying for 1,000 more 500 pound bombs.
Infidel Pride:
I thought that Tony Snow handled the questions from the media very well.
There is no stated pretext, contrary to many in the Demo left, or other Bush detractors there has always been a plan to leave Iraq when the coalition felt that some degree of stability could be achieved prior to our exiting the country. That has never changed but the presidents detractors keep trying to revisit it just as they never stop talking about the WMDS' at ad nauseam.
Our greatest weakness is that we failed to understand the entrenched Islamic totalitarian history and how it has severely complicated the positive resolve that we might have hoped for.
No question about it, our war against Afghanistan, and Iraq have only heightened the house of Dar-Al-Harb within the Islamic community throughout the world. But we are slowly learning, probably to slowly it usually appears.
Sooner or later radical Islam was going to challenge the Great Satan whether we invited them or not.
POLICE TARGET MUSLIMS, well Terrorist are mostly muslims, so therefore you target terrorist equals mostly muslims. logical thinking, but then there is no sane reason for one to remain a muslim when they try to equate preace with islam.
At last, we see the face of Muslims under the mask: terrorists!
I would like to see us do with this rodent what the Israelis did with Eichman's remains: cremate him and dump the ashes in the Mediterranean.
Any normal entombment will allow for the veneration of his remains and become a focal point for further murder and mayhem.
Well, I pray for 1,000 pilots like the one who dropped the bomb on Zarqawi.
Hat's off to you men and women serving in Iraq. Can't wait for you all to come home.
"May all of the copycat Zarqawis' virgins look like Helen Thomas."
Better yet, may they look like Madeleine Albright.
Yazm Khalayleh
Does Khalayleh rhyme with Shillelagh?
Patriot4 observes:
"Hopefully they will cut open a pigs belly and stick his head inside, then bury him."
I assume this is a reference to Gen Pershing's response to Muslim terrorism in the Phillipines
during our occupation in early 20th c. Burial with the un-halal pig guaranteed that the soul would be excluded from paradise - and miss out on all those virgins...That made it very discouraging to potential suicide terrorists, and seemed to decrease the incidence of attacks...
For us to bury Zarqawi with a pig would take too much imagination...imagine the outcry from the pious fools in our midst...
But farbrennte Islamists who buy the 72 virgins story would certainly be discomfited if they knew that their remains would sleep eternally with a porkish companion...
Well, th-th-thats all folks!
Nothing new here. The Palestinians constantly prattle about how they "condemn all forms of terrorism." And then whenever a Palestinian terrorist is killed, they pour out into the streets weeping, crying, chanting vengeance (all for the CNN cameras of course).
Not once in my memory have I ever seen ordinary Palestinians act pleased that a Palestinian terrorist got killed. But of course, they "condemn all forms of terrorism."
Zarqawi started life as a street criminal and crude thug and sexual molester, and no one paid him much attention. But then his mother, hoping to set him straight, sent him to a mosque to make sure that her boy would be a good boy, and he began to see things anew, and went off to Afghanistan (a little late for fighting, but what an inspiring place), and he then came back to Iraq, and the rest is history. In the eyes of many Muslims, more than enough, he became a Great Man. Many Sunni Arabs are proud of him. Oh, he made his mistakes -- who doesn't? He bombed that Jordanian hotel, and of course it's one thing to decapitate Americans, quite another to bomb fellow Sunnis in Jordan. Principles, principles.
But still -- he was a boy many Sunni Muslims think deserves to be praised and emulated. And outside that family home a large tent has been set up. Not the kind of tent they are setting up, or taking down, for Class Reunions and Graduations all over the United States. No, a wedding tent, for he, Zarqai, in death has been married. To whom, you ask? Does it matter, the exact names? Just think of them as a half-a-dozen dozen dark-eyed houris, or if Luxenberganly inclined, call them 72 raisins. In any case, something wonderful, and who cares about philology at this point? He died fighting the Good Fight -- the Jihad. There is no other Good Fight. He was a martyr. And after all, the journey not the arrival matters.
It is they who divide the world into "Us" and "Them" and if they insist on that division, we can do no other. Zarqawi means one thing to us; he means something quite different to many of them. Don't be surprised. That is as it must be.
Hugh said
Hugh also wrote a very nice expose regarding Zarqawi here, on how the "'Palestinian' mujahadid" was described by the media as a "Jordanian militant". It seems the "Palestinian" moniker is only appropriate for those willing to cheer and dance at the death of infidels, not for those willing to actually commit the murders.
The permutations and combinations in that original article still hold, but Zarqawi himself, I gather, was born into a large tribe in the Arab Kingdom of Jordan (olim Emirate of Transjordan) in 1967, so could be called a "Jordanian" which is to say, an "Eastern Palestinian" but not a "Western-Palestinian Eastern Palestinian," which is what he would be if he were descended from those who had drifted across the Jordan River at some time, anytime, to settle in that former Emirate, and before that former backwater of the Ottoman Empire, now known proudly as -- "Jordan."
All of which is interesting, but the main point remains, which is that the media are very selective about who is a "Palestinian" and who is not, who will help the cause and who will hurt it.
Which is not the actions of an impartial news service, but rather falls into the realm of propogandizing.
I will be watching closely on how the media depicts the story of the dearly departed Zarqawi.

This was the Tony Snow quote that I had in mind
This is the quote I was disagreeing with. Instead of seizing this opportunity to state that troop withdrawal would be assessed at this summit, he took this first opportunity that the US has got in a long time to instead re-iterate that "conditions on the ground" would determine a withdrawal timetable. Why not instead, simply state that this will be assessed at the meeting, and go from there? In fact, he went on to chide the press about the impatience to pull out. Why?
Translation: Iraq needs to be San Marino before US troops leave.Maybe a stray cruise missile might crash and blow up there, I hope!
Imagine the human tragedy involved in taking the basic standard human being (we're all basically the same, at least in my view) and warping one so bad that killing, slaughtering, destroying, and incinerating others indiscriminately is actually a good thing? It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the notion that Zarqoward- the brave and noble beheader of passive, unarmed people, and slaughterer of defenseless children- dressed with his wartime vestments, facemasks, assault rifles, and swords is regarded as a hero.
Nothing is prescious to some of those people.
If Zarqoward's family celebrated his death as a martyr as a marriage, I know we's spending his honeymoon in hell.
I just got a call from Zarqawi. He's not a happy camper. He complained of intense heat, dehydration, jock itch, a searing pain in his throat and neck, and excessive flatulence. Also doesn't like the scorpions crawling on his face.
I told him I'd see what I could do. So I put a call in to the devil, (I got friends in low places) and Satan agreed to lower the temperature from 500 F to 100 F, Gold Bond for jock itch, aspirin for the neck pain, and said he would do something about the gas. But for dehydration, Zarqawi has to drink New Coke.
Zarqawi hasn't responded.
But for dehydration, Zarqawi has to drink New Coke. - somethingaboutislam
Niiiice. And rather fitting-- I've often thought of Islam as sort of the New Coke of the "Abrahamic" (they wish) faiths.
Why does Reuters have to refer to his hometown as "bleak", and right at the beginning of the article? It's like they want the reader to feel sorry he grew up in a bleak town and therefore had no choice but to become a terrorist. Bleeding heart BS or something more nefarious.
perpster asked
Probably nothing nefarious, just the truth. Wherever Islam is the law of the land, there is only bleakness, unemployment, hunger, fear, deprivation.
Infidel Pride:
We simply cannot lay out a time table for withdraw publicly from Iraq.
The article under discussion here underscores what Hugh Fitzgerald and, I think, Robert have been arguing for a long time - that there is a deep, enduring hatred for America harbored by the Jordanian populace. The king's willingness to continue an uncomfortable alliance with us (no doubt, in large part, due to the foreign aid such an accord guarantees) in no way reflects the sentiments of many, probably most, of the Jordanians themselves. We are reviled as infidels. But this hatred and contempt does not deter the Jordanians - and the Egyptians, and the Saudis, the Pakistanis, and the "Palestinians" - from clamoring to come to Amrika for educational and economic reasons. And, of couse, we let them. And Muslims, filled with hatred and contempt for infidels, with a special animus reserved for Jews, the sons of apes and pigs, are accepted into medical schools, teaching hospitals, and universities established by Jews, such as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, etc., etc. The list is long, indeed.
