Iran mulling US appeasement offer

Peace In Our Time Update: US President Neville Chamberlain's proposal "needs study": "Iran says incentives proposal needs study," from AP:

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran reacted positively Tuesday to a package of incentives — including a previously undisclosed offer of U.S. nuclear help — aimed at enticing it to stop uranium enrichment. The American offer to provide technology for Iran's civilian nuclear program was another sign of major concessions from Washington.

Tehran is under intense international pressure to accept the deal, which the U.S., Europe and Iran's allies Russia and China hope will lead to a breakthrough return to negotiations.

Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, said the proposals had "positive steps" but said talks were needed to clear up ambiguities. Iran promised to seriously study the proposals but gave no timeframe for a response.

Oh, no hurry, Mahmoud. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm sure you know it.

Perhaps we should try:

Political Science
by Randy Newman

No one likes us-I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
But all around, even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens

We give them money-but are they grateful?
No, they're spiteful and they're hateful
They don't respect us-so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them

Asia's crowded and Europe's too old
Africa is far too hot
And Canada's too cold
And South America stole our name
Let's drop the big one
There'll be no one left to blame us

We'll save Australia
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo
We'll build an All American amusement park there
They got surfin', too

Boom goes London and boom Paree
More room for you and more room for me
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town
Oh, how peaceful it will be
We'll set everybody free
You'll wear a Japanese kimono
And there'll be Italian shoes for me

They all hate us anyhow
So let's drop the big one now
Let's drop the big one now

This is sheer lunacy. It sure worked great when Clinton appeased North Korea in similar fashion, right?

The PC/Multiculturalist Idiocracy may be clueless, but sadly, so are many of my fellow Republicans. C'mon, Dubya, pull your head out of your ass!

As stated earlier, Islam is a complete way of life. Given this, it is not surprising that the Creator is concerned with the method which we choose to govern ourselves. The preeminent rule which the Islamic state must observe is stated in the Qur'an (translation follows):

[4:59] O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you do believe in Allah and the Last Day; That is best, and most suitable for final determination.
From this verse, it is clear that the state's obligation of obedience to the Creator is as important as the obedience of the individual. Hence, the Islamic state must derive its law from the Qur'an and Sunnah. This principle excludes certain choices from the Islamic state's options for political and economic systems, such as a pure democracy, unrestricted capitalism, communism, socialism, etc. For example, a pure democracy places the people above the Qur'an and Sunnah, and this is disobedience to the Creator. However, the best alternative to a pure democracy is a democracy that implements and enforces the Shari'ah (Islamic Law).

So let me understand the Bush doctrine right...

(1) we invaded Iraq to prevent them from getting nukes.

(2) we made Iran the axis of evil becuase they are building nukes

(3) so now they must "renounce nukes" so they can get American nuclear technology.

Saddam must be saying "Hey! Why did I not get this deal???"

This is a great "war president" folks. What a commander! When he prayed for advice from god before the war is this what god told him to do???? Really! Fox says so....Tony Snow still thinks so! Rush thinks so! Man we need some new conservatives or at least someone with a brain.

I'd like to point out a certain irony. The previous Canadian government agreed to participate in the Afghanistan mission because it was certain that, compared to all the nasty, belligerent, American stuff that was going on in Iraq, Afghanistan represented "a good war." And we thought that, in so doing and in distancing ourselves from the Americans, the jihadis would leave us alone. Meanwhile, Canadians are now fighting and dying to keep the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (as it bills itself), a nation whose constituion is based on sharia law, from falling into the hands of the Taliban, Muslim fundamentalists who practice a stricter version of the same law, while the Constitution of Iraq is far less sharia-based (although even a little sharia is too much to allow for any semblance of democracy to take root). Now Canadians are utterly baffled by the jihadi terror plot that was planned and supposed to be executed on their own turf, because for those who think its all about what we're doing to them, and not about what they hope to do to us, homegrown jihadis sprouting in what Torontonians like to call "the most multicultural city in the world" makes absolutely no sense.

The Yanks are just going through the motions. Iran is going to reject the "incentives".

Hey, Ahmadinijad, kneel down in front of President Bush, bark like a dog, lick his cowboy boots and he will give you an H-bomb. What do you think Ahmadinijad will do?

OK, the quite logically US hasn't trusted Iran since 1979. We dont "deal" with terrorists the longstanding policy goes, right?

So, in some crazy way could this mean that Bush & the Neo-cons possibly think that by giving nuclear technology to Iran, that Shia Iran may one day nuke its' Sunni enemies in the inevitable Sunni/Shite conflagration we all know is coming because "my Allah is bigger than your Allah" and hence, mid-east problems solved?

Our leaders can't possibly be that stupid, can they? Oh, wait they are dealing with Iran, nevermind. They are that stupid.

Short People, (or an ode to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad)

by Randy Newman

Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live

They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
`Round here

Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)

Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
'Round here

Who said "And who says Americans don't understand irony??"?

Scaramouche -- and that's only the half of it!

Why not just give 'em "the bomb" and be done with it?

"Saddam must be saying "Hey! Why did I not get this deal???"

LOL no doubt. Like NK, Bush just proves again to these "rouge" "Evil" states (his words) pursue nukes and WMD's to some certain point upon which USA will bend like a reed and give you anything you want. Discusting appeasment and worse encouragement for a more armed and unstable world.

"US President Neville Chamberlain's proposal "

ROTF - - too funny..but so sad..:(

De Boulogne - It's you who is'nt getting it.

See this press release: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060606/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_nuclear;_ylt=AgamtaJCxMmLBVA80OdZhjJvaA8F

Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, said the proposals had "positive steps" but that talks were needed to clear up ambiguities.

They are arleady discribing it as "positive" and will adopt it after "abbiguties" i.e. milking us for all we're worth are cleared up. Hell we are already giving them a reactor, thus more technology and means to make more bombs and trade deals.

Iran has us just were they want us - bogged down in Iraq under the shi'a theat and under Iranian missles. They have the negotiating position!

iran purchased and moved 250 tons of gold to iran just recently, would this be considered to be a prime target???

the comparison of present US-EU policy toward Iran with Neville Chamberlain policy toward Hilter is quite appropriate. And to the extent that the parallel is weak it is because there is less excuse for an appeasement policy toward ahmadinutjob. In 1938, before Munich, the world had had only five years to know Hitler. Today, the world has had 27 years to get to know the Islamomaniacs in Iran, starting with Khomeini. Chamberlain should have known better in 1938 at Munich --and maybe he really did. But there is no excuse today to deal in a civilized conciliatory manner with the Iranian Islamic fanatic regime, as if these were people who kept their word, who respected the rights of others, who wanted peace, etc.
