PARIS, June 8 — Iran restarted important nuclear activities on the same day this week that six world powers offered it incentives aimed at encouraging the complete suspension of the nuclear work, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported on Thursday.On Tuesday, Iran restarted the pouring of a raw form of uranium into a set of 164 centrifuge machines to produce enriched uranium, said the I.A.E.A., the nuclear monitoring agency based in Vienna.
That same day, Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy chief, was in Tehran, where he presented Iranian leaders with an international package of incentives to help resolve the crisis caused by the country's nuclear program.
There was no explanation for Iran's decision. But it seemed to underscore its often stated determination not to be bullied into accepting any deal requiring it to end activities related to uranium enrichment.
The decision also could be intended to win more concessions from the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany, which proposed the incentives package.
The revelation is likely to stiffen the resolve of the United States and the Europeans in particular that a complete freeze of uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities is a condition for formal negotiations.
Don't bet on that.

l have more faith than some in Bush, they know Iran has no intentions of stoping to produce enriched uranium. Bush and the rest of the GOP have to lay the groundwork of doing everything possible to prevent from bombing Iran.
so with Iranian actions of defying the EU,UN,US, they have no choice but to bomb the Iranian nuclear capabilities. so right now its all a side show for the EU and UN wiennies.

My guess is the negotiations with Iran are as much a PR plan to placate the Europeans by giving the appearence of doing everything we can to avoid a military response.
The U.S. will get no support from Europe or the U.N., thats already a foregone conclusion. I think he knows this, although I am not sure if the State Dept. does.
Regardless of Bush's ignorance about islam, he is serious about not letting Iran possess nukes. I think Bush saw how the N. Koreans played Clinton and the liberals like a fiddle and won't let it replay with Iran.
So far I am seeing no evidence that anything concrete will be done about the Iran threat by this current U.S. Administration. It is a very bad situation and I do not think history will smile upon these decision-makers.
Iran will be appeased until they set off nukes in Europe and Israel.
