Iran uses 'surrogates' for attacks in Iraq: US commander

WASHINGTON, June 22, 2006 (AFP) - The United States accused Iran Thursday of being a major destabilizing force in Iraq, accusing Tehran of training and arming insurgent groups and using "surrogates" to carry out terrorist strikes.

"It's decidedy unhelpful," the top US commander in Iraq, General George Casey, told reporters at a Pentagon news conference with US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Casey said that he had no evidence of Iranians actually in Iraq directing attacks against Iraqis or US forces, but said that he assumed elements in Tehran were guiding the process.

"We are quite confident that the Iranians, through their covert special operations forces, are providing weapons, IED technology and training to Shi'a extremist groups in Iraq, the training being conducted in Iran and in some cases probably in Lebanon through their surrogates," he said.

"They are using surrogates to conduct terrorist operations in Iraq both against us and against the Iraqi people," he said.

I guess Iran is planning to take over Iraq after the US (West) leaves - they are just preparing for the inevitable.

Wait and see.

"Surrogates"?

Is that military code for "Shi'ites"?

Al-Sistani and Sadr, the surrogate leaders?

This is old news. What's constantly annoying is how the Dhimmicrats and the media quickly toss stones at the U.S. military, when in fact, most of the problems we are encountering in Iraq are orchestrated by outside jihad sources that are determined to embarass the U.S. and hamper our attempts at creating any lasting peace in Iraq.

I'll say it again: attack Iran. Tomorrow, today, but do it soon.

Mutadar Al Sadr is Iran's main surrogate in Iraq. The same guy the U.S. Marines said they were going to " bring down and arrest " and destroy his private army. Well the White House nixed all that and instead sought to turn his army into a legitimate political force.

So much for the Generals-on-the-ground making the calls.

And if we do decide to attack Iran, which I am not sure we will given how Bush has dove tailed his whole war-on-terror to coinside with Iranian objectives to promote a shiite jihad, " our boys" in Iraq will not cooperate with any such attack.

Our conduct in Iraq has been guided by sheer foolishness. Iran sees this and is enbolden by our foolishness.
