Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

"Al-Zarqawi successor vows to keep fighting," from AP:

CAIRO, Egypt - The new leader of al-Qaida in Iraq vowed to defeat "crusaders and Shiites" in Iraq, and he said "holy warriors" there were stronger than ever, according to a Web statement posted Tuesday — the first from the new terrorist leader.

The statement appeared one day after the group announced that a man identified by the nom de guerre Abu Hamza al-Muhajer would succeed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as its leader....

"It's no secret the ferociousness of the battle that is going on between the soldiers of right and the soldiers of wrong — the crusaders, the rejectionists (Shiites) and apostates in Iraq," the statement said.

"Apostates" are those Muslims who cooperate with the Americans. This is the approach the mujahedin have consistently taken, and Westernized, secularized Muslims have formulated no effective response.

Al-Muhajer said the fighting in Iraq was at a crucial point.

"The holy fighters have made the enemy taste the bitterness of defeat and humiliation. With God's permission, your sons have reached the decisive moment," the statement said.

Time to set the hounds on him for a quick capture. Then send him to paradise via a hole in the sand accompanied by a pig.

EU Drafts Lexicon on Islam.......SICK...JUST ..SICK..........In Context

Rather than dictionary-style definitions, the EU lexicon tries to place words in their cultural, historical and political context to inform users and give them a better idea of how their use could be misunderstood.

The common lexicon, for the moment, consists of just three terms: "Islamist", "fundamentalism" and "jihad".

The document ruled out "Islamic terrorism," because it brackets Islam as a religion with terrorism.

It further has reservations about "Islamist terrorism" though the suffix -ist links terrorism to a distinct political ideology, not to a religion as a whole.

Most Islamists, the lexicon goes on, do not use violence to achieve their political goals and indeed the difference between Islamist and Islamic might not be obvious to the average European.

As a rule of thumb, a reference to the name of the group or individual responsible for a terrorist attack, or the location of a terrorist attack, is a good choice," reads the text.

Or alternatively: "terrorism that invokes an abusive interpretation of Islam."

The lexicon also advised the Europeans to steer clear of the offensive "Islamic fundamentalism."

Question for the intelligence buffs:

I know it's a little deep, but, could the Iraq war be a way to keep China from dominating Iraq's oil like they did Iran's?

yawn...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

It's times like these I wish we still had Johnny Cash around to say, "How do you do? My name is Sue. I'm gonna kill you!"

Sources say that after Zarqawi was killed, his place will be taken by a man named Abu Hamza al-Muhajer -- or as our Special Forces calls him: Next!"

-- from David Letterman's monoloque

What have they decided to do with the remains of the last one? I did hear that the family wanted his body returned for the traditional muslim burial. Perhaps we could reach a compromise, they get the head...

They just lost their prominent leader last week. If this is the new definition of the "enemy tasting the bitterness of defeat and humiliation" (akin to Saddam's claims to victory in the Mother of all-Battles), may our troops taste many more such defeats.

In particular, 2 such defeats in Pakistan/Afghanistan regarding Osama and Zawahiri will be particularly bitter. I can't wait.

We know islam is a convenient excuse for carrying out various atrocities, zarqawi was being whipped up to do what he does because somebody else was profiting? (e.g. merc work to his "spiritual advisors", in his mind, jihad).
They have always worked for booty garnered from the infidel in true caravan raider fashion. Is there a larger game afoot? A reason to subjugate the west than the obvious caliphate dream? Who would assert their authority over the potential caliphate? Would it even be a muslim?

"Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

I've heard this line before in a song. Is it from a song on the "Who's next" album by the Who?

Al-Zarqawi successor vows to keep fighting

When I read this AP headline, I thought it said:

Al-Zarqawi vows to keep fighting.

My first thought was, Doesn't this guy know when he's beaten?

I say we feed him to a pig and turn what comes out the back end into alternative
fuel for our humvees.

Our troops will soon be learning a new dance it's called the Abu Stomp. If Abu actually leads things from Iraq I'm betting he doesn't last more than a couple of weeks....max.

Robert,

Won't get fooled again.

Very funny. I hope your right.

The path to Zarkawi was not direct. Ultimately his social network was reconstructed in sufficient depth to begin tracking his movements. So anyone who emerges from that network is already a known quantity and it will probably not be long before he too is having his head sawed off by a US Army pathologist during his autopsy in the same way that Zarkawi's brain was separated from his body by the surgeon's saw.

Just out of curiosity, who put this guy in charge? Was there an election, an appointment or did he just move up the chain of command?

Does his Nom de Guerre mean that he is a well known player?

and if he thinks that by us killing Zarq

"The holy fighters have made the enemy taste the bitterness of defeat and humiliation".

He's not very rational. WHO IS THIS GUY?

....Well, the fight goes on. Time to go look for this new boss.

I can imagine this conversation:

Mujihid 1-The Boss is dead the Americans came.
Mujihid 2-No way!
Mujihid 1-Way.
Mujihid 2-For real?
Mujihid 1-Real!
Mujihid 2-ummmm who are we gonna talk into taking his place?
Mujihid 1-Has to someone stupid with a death wish.

Both at the same time “Abu Hamza al-Muhajer”

Smiling they sit down, light a hooka and toast the new emir.

l heard on Rush today (at work mmm lol that this guy
:nom de guerre Abu Hamza al-Muhajer" is prol. an alias, on one knows of this guy, love to get his picture on tv and internet, and sing "another one hits the dust, and another one, and another one!"
yeah they Abu Hamza is really shy, not sure sure if he wants to be found out..

nom de guerre. That's French for "You gotta be kidding if you think I'll tell you my real name - did you see what happened to the last guy?"

"Apostates" are those Muslims who cooperate with the Americans. This is the approach the mujahedin have consistently taken, and Westernized, secularized Muslims have formulated no effective response.

Indeed....Zarqawi and his "holy" gang gets more sympathy this past week than the "apostate" Iraqi police/troops. Will the real Islam please stand up?

Well you said it was unmoderated, and you lied

No wonder these people remind me of the American left. Both groups are so firmly grounded in reality!

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, initially thought in the media to be a likely successor, was overheard saying, "Well, it's an honor just to be nominated..."

Abu and fellow cohorts killed a lot of people who were not Americans, Jews, Apostates, or infidels of any other description. He killed just for the "shock and awe" of a high body count. His tatics should have been a concern for any member of the "religion of peace". I have yet to see any movement by any Muslim leader or organization to decry the Muslim violence, especially the Muslim Mosques/leaders in the United States or Europe.
Abu's replacement may never have heard the song D.O.A. (dead on arrival), however, he truly should be concerned. The movement loves marytrs.

Christopher Hitchens reports that the (rightful) targeted killing of Zarqawi was the result of information derived from people who were or had been close to him. Either that, or, the US is engaging in "...clever black propaganda, which is also excellent news.".

If it's the former, may Zarqawi's successor meet a similar fate, only much sooner.

If it's the latter, it's about time the anti-jihad forces got smart.

Some of you may also recall Zarqawi's annoucement to the world that his bedtime attire included a bomb belt, to be detonated if he thought he was about to be captured. This suggests that he couldn't trust those closest to him to keep him safe while he slept.

And judging by the pictures of his corpse, he never had the chance to implode himself and take a few infidels with him. The best laid plans of mice and men, gang aft aglay, eh, Abu-Musa?
