Sharia Alert from The Sunday Mail: "Religious police detain woman"
A 70-year-old Saudi woman was briefly jailed after being detained by the religious police who suspected her motives for entering a shop owned by a man in a busy Riyadh market.
Members of the dreaded Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, known as Mutawas, descended on the shop in the capital's Al-Deira market on Tuesday after the woman entered the shop while there was no one inside except the male owner, the Saudi-owned Al-Hayat daily reported.
"The commission suspected the woman was in 'unlawful seclusion' with the owner despite the fact that the shop's shutters were wide open," the paper said, employing a term commonly used in Saudi Arabia's puritanical society to describe a sexual liaison.
Quoting her nephew, the paper said the woman, who could barely walk, had gone missing after she went shopping.
Her family searched for her in hospitals and police stations all over the capital until they found her in a woman's prison late Tuesday.
What would the Saudis do with the staff of the Guardian or the Nation or the NYT if they could only get their hands on them? I like wondering about it...
Would it be mirthful to see what tender mercies applied could insure those writers their virtue? And what would be done to effectively prevent those pundits' varied vices?
Muttawa Motto: Vice may be nice, but stick to virtue, or we'll hurt you.
Another bleeding example from the strange & weird world of Islam!
"Portable seclusion" turned into "unlawful seclusion..." Hahah!
How about the case of a female gone troppo running naked down the street in jeddah and none of the Muttawa dared to take any action since it was too far out and beyond anything they could imagine?
I didn't keep the link, perhaps somebody can post it!?
Yes -- the infamous Naked Witch of the East bounding between two great mosques. Rumor says that many minarets began sagging immediatly when she appeared, the reason indeterminate
if it were possible l would love to see some of these Mutawas beamed to a U.S. city, or beach outside of Miami, etc. would love to see their expression. this has got to be the sickest society on earth.
On the other hand, she may have been flattered.
"the woman entered the shop while there was no one inside except the male owner"
Heaven forbid.
An old lady an a man alone in the same building.
Gasp!
Naughty...Naughty
NOT!
Perhaps the virtue and vice police should examine this old woman's motives before they arrest her.
No due process in the land of Islam
After death, as per Islam, she's going to hell anyway, so what's with a sneak preview?
Lulu says "This has got to be the sickest society on earth."
Lulu, how would you compare that society to THIS one:

Or how about THIS one:

In the pursuit of great 'purity' these people have developed the filthiest minds on the planet.
Why is this article here?
Shouldn't it have been posted on GrannyWatch?
From where I'm sitting 70 is ceasing to seem that old. But with the Arab tendency to young marriage she was probably a great, great grandmother. So much for the "respect for their elders" that Muslim communities boast of so much to us westerners.
Tut, tut. Those "wild slutty womens", they have to be watched all the time.
Here you go, Sheik:
Naked African 'Witch' Brings Medina to a Standstill.
More seriously, the incident seems to have led to a bout of witch-hunting by the Saudis inspired by misogynistic and racially-motivated fears:
Asian and African Witches Will be Hunted Down and "Terminated"
the paper said the woman, who could barely walk, had gone missing after she went shopping.
This is obviously a loose woman who was on the prowl looking for a man.Good thing the religious police were there so that nothing improper happened.
The slut! How dare she?! If any occasion called for an honor killing this is it. I expect all her hundreds of grandchildren to be drawing straws to determine who will be the one to restore the family's honor.
A funny video about how to promote understanding between muslims and non-muslims;

Another one of them "slutty womens" at work, undermining the morals of Islamic yoots worldwide! Whatta-ya-gonna-do? Praise be to Allah for the tireless devotion of the Mutawas!
jsla - you must be the devil. I laughed way too hard at your remarks.
The family and friends of that woman must have been angry and disgusted when they learned of the incident and how was resolved. However, there have to be more ordinary Saudis than the men running around acting as religious police. There could be a rebellion against this sort of thing. But, the sick and twisted all-Islam, all-the-time Saudi society gives their tacit consent and approval to such ridiculous actions. Grannys will continued to be jailed. This incident pales in comparison to the tragic event of several years ago when a group of school girls were pushed back inside a burning building by religious police for not have the "proper" Islamic attire. I don't want to live like this and I don't want my grandchildren to live like this. I bring up the burning school girls incident to those who are whining about how unfair Muslims are being profiled, misunderstood, etc. The defenders can never come up with a comparison of such things done in the West.
"...the tragic event of several years ago when a group of school girls were pushed back inside a burning building by religious police for not have the "proper" Islamic attire."
Zis Is Izraili Zionist propoganda! De gerlz insisted on abiding by da wordz of ourrr Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), despite the best efforts of ourrr dedicated Muttawa to convince dem to come out of de berning building. De girlz are braaave martyrs, praise Allaaah, and enjooying rich rewarrrd in Heaven.
This just proves that Islam has a poor track record when it comes to how women are treated. If she was American she would at least get help so she could get around.
The sad thing is that the general muslim public, the "brothers and sisters" didn't help her, didn't protect her out of "respect", didn't demonstate in outrage as they are prone to do in the host countries. Their warped ways really are sick. They should be embarrassed, but I'm sure are really proud of the "vice" police.
Where is the virtue??
Do you know where your grandmother is . . . right now?
Carolus -- He who laughs ... lasts!
A kid from our neighborhood just returned from his 2nd tour in Afghanistan and Iraq. He’s an Army recruiter now, but was a Ranger over there.
When I asked this baby-faced blond haired blue eyed Midwesterner what was the worst he saw, he said that his squadron got really tired of seeing alledged sluts hanging wrist-tied in the air being beaten with broom sticks by deeply offended Moslem Men.
I axed, “Well, what did you do?”
He answered, “The first time, we stuck to our mission and drove by. We were tasked to seize or shoot a local Imam who was stirring up Jihad.”
“And the second time?”
“Same thing; different cleric.”
“And the third time?”
“Well, Mr. Alarmed Pig Farmer, we didn’t have to do any time in the stockade, but the brass was really pissed at us and docked us a full paycheck, and they broke up and re-detached our entire sqadron. Even made us take a test on the Rules of Engagement, which was a drag. But those stick-weilding Hairies got the surprise of their lives, which are no more.”
God Bless America, if there is one.
DNA could prove who the father of the baby is. Would he be stoned to death if found out? Or would DNA not count because Mohammad never mentioned it? Course he never mentioned telephones either and they get used. And computers, and ....
No cry of outrage from Naseem or the other dogs of Islam?
I just can't leave this thread alone -- but I have a legitimate reason for posting. I just found this tidbit while poking around on the internet:

The Nature of the Shop in Question
The shop in question was a vibrating minaret shop. We feel this will clear up any misunderstandings in the international community regarding the nature of this woman's heinous crime. Do we have to spell it out for you?
