Senior al-Qaeda figure caught, US says

Another victory. From Reuters, with thanks to JE:

The UNITED States military said today it had captured a senior al-Qaeda in Iraq member near an area where the group's leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a US air strike two weeks ago....

The military did not mention the name of the senior al-Qaeda militant but said he was known for "facilitating" foreign fighters throughout central Iraq.

George Galloway was in Iraq?!?

We will, no doubt, keep our captives longer than they keep theirs.

Actually, it's a shame that George Galloway isn't quite stupid enough to go to Iraq to visit his old pal in jail. I would dearly love to see him standing in the city centre (ANY city centre) delivering one of his speeches, praising Saddam and cheering on the 'resistance fighters' who are working so hard to make Iraq a happier place. Somehow, I reckon the public reaction over there would be a little less sycophantic than he's grown used to in the UK.

Ah well, we can all have our little dreams, can't we?

It would be nice if it was Muhajir, the one who tortured our soldiers to death. I suppose that would be wishful thinking. It will probably take two years to kill him, just like it did Zarqawi. I don't understand why our military didn't raid the town where our soldiers were captured and killed, and instead fought in Ramadi. No wonder we're so far behind over there. The Generals in charge are idiots, then when our soldiers try to take matters into our own hands, they get arrested.
