Iran's political leadership is now aiming toward global power projection in the name of Islam, demanding recognition that Islam comprises 25 percent of humanity and should occupy its rightful place in decision-making in world affairs. Statements like this are not about self-defense.

What decisions are those I wonder?

To my knowledge the safest way to handle the Iranian threat is to deploy and detonate EMP weapons over Iranian and other Islamic nations' airspace. What this would do is eliminate their capacity to launch their weapons against western targets by destroying their electronic infrastructure. It would result in far fewer lives lost than if the Iranians and the other Islamic(and Islamic-allied) aggressors launch their weapons mentioned in the above article.

And, the United States had better get on with this NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest all USA-based Jihad Watch readers talk to their representatives about this immediately. I wish I didn't have to mention this (I would have thought it was the OBVIOUS solution) but apparently no one is thinking along these lines (at least no one I have encountered).

In addition, since it is clear that North Korea is in bed with the Iranian mullahs, the US might be advised to apply the same strategy over North Korea.

If it is true that these missiles are controlled by the Revolutionary Guard (that is, by the Islamic supreme ayatollahs) and not by the regular Iranian military (and I have no reason to doubt this statement), then these weapons are acquired clearly for the sole purpose of Islamic jihad--to terrorize civilized countries into inaction and eventual submission. These weapons are not, as stated in the article, for self defense. And they are not under positive control of any moral authority.

We need to destroy these weapons soon. We should also completely destroy the Iranian oil producing capability. Iran cannot acquire or maintain expensive weaponry without the easy income from oil.

I generally enjoy your postings but there are two things I wish to tell you.

First, although we can see in hindsight Bush would definitely have been better off going after the Iranian mullahs as opposed to Saddam Hussein, this does NOT mean Saddam Hussein was not a threat (a recent MEMRI video of an interview with one of the Hussein regime's ex-generals emphasized that the Russians armed the Iraqi dictator with nuclear weapons technology, chemical and biological weapons---that was Saddam Hussein's government that contaminated the Washington, DC building with anthrax in 2001 right after 9-11---which the Russian government supplied the Hussein government with in order to destabilize the western democracies with; before the US-led attack on Iraq Soviet Spetznik forces removed most of what WMD were there).

Secondly, the REAL lesson that should have been learned from America's Iraq experience is THAT VIRTUALLY ALL ISLAMIC NATIONS ARE DANGEROUS IN THE EXTREME TO HUMANITY. EVERY ONE OF THEM---- FROM INDONEIA TO SENEGAL TO ALBANIA!

We cannot say one is really more dangerous to the world than the other. They are all dangerous, armed, and set to attack. The only noteable difference is that one Islamic regime at a time seems to be chosen by the mosques to attack the west. Now it's Iran's turn. Next year it may be Morrocco, the year after it may be Malaysia, etc.
In fact, it is possible that Saddam Hussein MAY have been chosen by the mosques to attack the west but shifted their plans to nearby Iran when Bush started shooting off his big mouth about invading Iraq (giving the Middle East mosques plenty of time to change their jihad strategies).

That is the lesson should have been learned. When that point finally sinks in it will dawn on you not so much that Bush is an idiot than the reality that few of us realized any of this when we entered into the new millennium. I think Bush simply had no idea of what was lurking out there and with very limited intelligence on Islam came to a faulty conclusion--as did most of the western world (although our former EU and other allies arrivd at OTHER equally faulty conclusions). I agree Bush has been a major let down--but where have we NOT been let down in the struggle against Islamic terrorism?????

America will probably get through this crisis with the Iranian mullahs somehow, and when it does some other Islamic country is going to come to the fore and create ANOTHER lethal crisis in global affairs that we will be forced to handle.

Voltaire said basically that Bush went after the wrong target and missed the point that Iran was a threat. Bush, in fact, knew all along that Iran was a serious threat and demonstrated that knowledge conclusively by including that country in the Axis of Evil grouping.

Generally, I agree with your posting otherwise. Islam is the enemy, by their own definition, as daily demonstrated by copious hateful statements and violent and contemptuous behavior worldwide.

I doubt that there is any high level coordination about who will attack the west and when. Islam has no timetable, and does not need to be "monolithic" or even well-coordinated to be a serious threat to the civilized nations. By ideologicl imperative, those Muslims (and Islamic countries) who are in a position to attack are required to do so as a religious duty. Iran sees in current circumstances an opportunity for martyrdom, and is making a splash. We need to bloody their nose, sooner better than later. A stitch in time saves nine.

Voltaire: All of Islam is essentially a single country called the UMMAH. This also pertains to Muslims residing within a supposedly non-Muslim country.

Muslims pledge allegiance only to Allah. The Kuran is the Muslims' national and political constitution. The local mosque is the ummah's governing and adminstration center and it may double as an armory at times also.

Thus there is little real difference between Iran and Iraq as far as most Muslims are concerned. The only thing relating to nationalities (as we know them) that members of the Ummah are likely to be concerned about is the degree to which the letter of Kuranic law is upheld. That's it.

They're easier to hide than you think and Iran has 600,000 square miles of territory to search and bomb. How do we destroy Iran's capability to deploy WMDs-----see below.

I just heard the same news -about WMD's being finally found- from Curt Weldon (R-PA) on the radio. He said that WMD's were found by our troops, this April, hidden in Iraq.

The U.S. has never claimed that electromagnetic pulses are a substitute for strategic bombing of an enemy's nuclear launch facilities. Because they aren't.

For example, Chinese government spokesman, Liu Jianchao is now making a sincere effort to take away the "liar of the century" award from Baghdad Bob. Bob, aka former Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, made headlines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq by declaring victory against U.S. forces even as Army M-1 tanks were rolling into Baghdad behind him on live TV.
In a clear bid to topple al-Sahaf from his title, the Chinese government official spokesman recently declared that China has no spies inside the United States.

Here's a recent example: A Taiwanese man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to plotting to ship to China advanced U.S. weapons, including an F-16 fighter engine and nuclear-capable cruise missiles.
Ko-Suen Moo, 58, an employee of Lockheed pleaded guilty in federal court in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to being a covert agent for China.
Another example from 2005, Ning Wen, his wife, Hailin Lin, 55, and two Chinese nationals were charged and convicted of conspiracy to export restricted electronics and money laundering. The two Chinese citizens, Jian Guo Qu and Ruo Ling Wang, were arrested as they got off a Greyhound bus in Milwaukee to meet with Wen.

The only way the western democracies will be able to avert a nuclear confrontation with Iran and the other Islamic countries is to destroy their capacity to launch their weapons of mass destruction (ICBMS etc) and that is to deploy and detonate Electro Magnetic Pulse weapons over their airspace.

EMPs might also be an effective weapon against overtly hostile Communist countries like Venezuela and North Korea.

What this would do is destroy these countries' electronic infrastructure which would be used to launch their missiles and other weapons of mass destruction. Flood Waters Leave 178 Dead in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Villagers and rescue teams Thursday searched for survivors on an Indonesian island hit by floods and landslides, as the number of killed climbed to 178, officials said.
More than 135 other people were missing in southern districts of Sulawesi Island, with many feared to have been swept out to sea. At least two roads were still blocked by landslides and flood waters reached almost 2-meters high in one district, said rescue official Abdul Malik.

GENEVA — The Red Cross admitted Israel to the worldwide humanitarian organization early Thursday, ending decades of exclusion linked to the Jewish state's refusal to accept the traditional cross symbol.
The approval came in the early hours Thursday following a two-day International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
With a round of applause the Red Cross federation admitted Israel's Magen David Adom society simultaneously with the Palestine Red Crescent. An optional new emblem was adopted so that Israel could retain its red star of David instead of having to adopt the red cross or crescent used by the 184 other societies in the global movement.
"This has been going on for 58 long years. It's time. It's overdue," said Bonnie McElveen Hunter, chairman of the American Red Cross, which had been campaigning for years for the Israeli society's admission.
Israeli Ambassador Itzhak Levanon said the International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent had earlier rejected a Muslim amendment that would have challenged Israel's occupation of Arab territory since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. The vote was 72 votes for the amendment and 191 against, he said.
