London, 27 June (AKI) - A 21-year-old male from the northern British city of Bradford and a 28-year-old man from London are to appear in court on charges under Britain's Terrorism 2000 Act. The 21-year-old is accused of conspiracy to murder and to cause public nuisance by use of poisons and/or explosives to cause disruption, fear or injury. The unspecified charges against the 28-year-old, also arrested during the same international terrorism investigation, relate to a separate matter, Britain's West Yorkshire police stressed, quoted by the Guardian newspaper.Both men were arrested on 6 June in an operation linked to the detention of a man at Manchester Airport in northern Britain. The arrests were not related to the controversial 2 June police raid on a house in Forest Gate, east London during which a young Muslim man, Abdul Kahar was accidentally shot in a struggle with armed police as they searched for a suspected chemical bomb last Friday. There was also no connection to last year's coordinated 7 July suicide bombings of central London's transport system, police said.
Also on Tuesday, two people were arrested by anti-terrorism police during a series of dawn raids on several properties in the northern British town of Bolton, police said, adding that the operation was not linked to any other recent anti-terrorism raids. Police did not release any further details of the arrests, but the suspects are believed to be male, the Independent newspaper reported.

I know this town well, as it is where I was born and grew up. I'm the last person to be pedantic, but it isn't in northern Britain, but northern England. If it were in northern Britain, it would be in Scotland, or, as some Americans call it - but only in films - Scotland, England.
That is neither here nor there, but I thought I'd say it anyway.
So the suspects are male. That narrows it down. About a week ago, according to the BBC, a "pair" was arrested in Bradford on suspicion of terrorist activities. The "pair" consisted of a "man" and a "youth". Islam is a religion of pairs.
How curious, Bradford and Bolton have very high populations of muslims. Of course that surely must just be a coincidence. Not.

Normally, "male" is an adjective used to apply the masculine gender to something, while "man" is a male human. That's how it is in simple grammar - I dunno to what extent things have changed since I went to school.
I believe that the use of the term "male" as a synonym for "man" is more American than British, but I've rarely (no, make that never) seen both terms used simultaneously to mean the same thing.
So in the above article, what's the difference between a "male" and a "man"?

Would no part of Northern England be considered Northern Britain? I'd have thought one would divide the country by latitude into 3, and then call it North, Central and South. Or do you have a different way of splitting things?

Carlisle, Newcastle or Berwick-upon-Tweed would count as northern Britain. But certainly not Bolton, which, on a map of Britain, is halfway up.
"North, central and south" makes little sense as a division of Britain, though England is divided into the north, the midlands and the south. When I go up to Bolton I am considered a poncy southerner. (The adjective "poncy" is almost redundant.) Here in London, I am considered a northern git - or is it just a git?

Looks like the article didn't have any problem using the term Muslim when it came to the "wrongfully" shot "victim." I'm glad to know that the media realizes that muslims can only ever be victims, and never perpetrators.

I agree, there is a code which you can look for in the British press. "unprovoked attack" many Muslims onto one non Muslim. Reporting a crime without giving a description of the offender, usually a rape, think long beard, long untucked shirt and stupid hat. "Gang attacks...", usually Muslims. "No description was given/at present" long beard, untucked shirt and stupid hat. I've noticed the same thing in footage from the Mideast-- cars and often pickup trucks, most often Toyotas, Nissans, occasionally an old Datsun running on duct tape and du'a.
All I can figure is this: They have too much trouble already with "denominational" differences and issues of group affiliation to risk adding the "Ford vs. Chevy" debate to that volatile mix!

You could be right! By afternoon this item was relegated to the local TV news and the only sight of the suspects was a 2 second shot of a small figure in a black burqa getting into a police car.
Incidentally one of the raids was on a house in an overwhelmingly white area - the sort of place muslims do not usually live - but the sort of place where they often locate asylum seekers.

You know how muslims take care of their dead ? They put the body in the grave (no coffin), and then disfigure the face by throwing pieces of rocks before filling it up. And in islamic lands, if one is caught placing flowers on a grave (like on All Souls), one is flogged. Talk about troglodytes.
Reference the raids at Bolton in the north of England, the Local Paper reported,
"Residents said an Asian couple with 3 young boys lived at the house."
“I saw them bring the family out – The officers all lined up to do this – they obviously didn’t want anyone to see what was happening”.
“The family have lived there for about 6 months nobody really knows them”.
"The house was let by an agency on behalf of a private landlord who declined to comment."
This last line means they were almost certainly asylum seekers fleeing oppression in their homeland.
The joke in this country at the moment is that when the news reports "men" or "youths" etc. in these situations, what they mean is muslim. It really is getting quite hilariously sad that our intelligence is insulted like this. I mean, we actually have muslims in the UK complaining that they are the ones being stopped and searched for terrorist weapons. Er, hello? It was muslims that attacked us so of course you target muslims for stop and search. Of course WE all know that the reason they are jumping up and down is to try and make the police impotent before the next inevitable terrorist attack on this country, hence the rigged raid on two innocent men who new the informant who "grassed" them up. Gordon Brown is so intent on selling out this country as the Islamic world bank that the government will tolerate any and all terrorist activity against this country.
