A RADICAL Muslim who ousted a leading moderate cleric from his mosque on the south coast with a campaign of violence has said he believes Tony Blair is a “legitimate target” for terrorists.Abubaker Deghayes, who now runs the mosque in Brighton and whose brother Omar is a detainee at Guantanamo Bay, told an undercover reporter that he endorsed the views of George Galloway, the Respect MP, who said an attack on the prime minister by a suicide bomber could be morally justified. Deghayes said he prayed for Allah to support anyone who attacked Blair.
Court documents show Deghayes took over the mosque using violence, intimidation and threats. Dr Abduljalil Sajid, a leading imam and a government adviser on Islam, was forced out as head of the mosque by Deghayes and his supporters.
It is understood Sussex police Special Branch held a number of meetings with Sajid about extremist elements at the site, but no overt action was taken. Sajid, chairman of the Muslim Council for Religious and Racial Harmony, is understood to have raised his concerns about the mosque with Blair.
Police sources have confirmed that in the past extremist literature had been found at the site and that some of those attending the mosque were suspected of having fought as “mercenaries” abroad....
A reporter spent two weeks undercover at the Al-Quds mosque, which is in a detached house in Brighton. On Fridays, it can attract 100-200 worshippers. Deghayes made his extremist views clear while chatting to the reporter. Asked whether he shared Galloway’s view that the prime minister was a legitimate target for suicide bombers, he replied: “Yes, I do, I do.”
In another conversation, Deghayes said: “He is a legitimate target. Him and Bush are part of all that we see now.”
Later asked if he ever prayed for Blair to be attacked by a Muslim, he said: “I pray to Allah to support them. Of course, I know anybody who attacks in the name of Islam, Allah will take care of him.”
Deghayes also said he was unconcerned about British troops being killed in Iraq because the issue was “all clear in international law”. “Under international law anybody who’s been invaded, they are entitled to self-defence,” he said.
“It’s something all countries are signatories to. So what’s happening is an occupation. People in Iraq have every right to liberate themselves.”
But he urged the reporter to be careful with whom he discussed his views for fear of prosecution. Deghayes said: “Don’t talk openly, like ‘Tony Blair (is) an open target’. Now you can be taken in for glorifying terrorism.
“(Even) among Muslim brothers . . . there are hypocrites, munafiqs (hypocrites). There are spies, all sorts of people. There’s no need to talk about it, to say like this.”
Enough of this, governments will have to declare Islam a terror network, than we can get our wish of getting rid of islam from infidel lands.

Sebastien -- a great link. After reading it, and doing a little poking around, I must ask: Why in the world would the good citizens of Brighton campaign to close that Mosque?
The Argus, and the Imam Deghayes are clearly fighting for social justice. America is the hegemon and must be resisted everywhere. Her every crime, from driving autos, the worshipping of her flag, her addiction to war, her responsibility for global warming, her greed and avarice in conducting business where profits are actually sought, her unilateralism, to incarcerating oppressed freedom fighters in Gitmo are ALL are heinous crimes against humanity. There's no other way but to fight her. The USA is the font of all evil on earth.
Let's wait and see how the project "Justice for Omar" by the righteous people of Brighton, the Argus, and his bruvver Deghayes turns out in the end. Every one wants to know:
Will it prove for once and for all that whiteys aren't racists, that they love Muslim more than they love themselves, that all men can live together in peace and harmony and justice if the correct scapegoats can be found and the proper sounds of appeasement and encouragement can be made?

Knowing how much the English love to buy and sell their terraced houses every 5 minutes, make sure to mention how the value of property plummets when a terror mosque appears at the end of the street. I don't suppose the retail value of homes around Finsbury Park are much to write home about any more.
Looking at the map, it appears that residents on Goldsmid Road, Compton Avenue, Montpelier Crescent, Vernon Terrace, Melville Road, Clifton Road, Chatham Place and dozens of others will be affected by this.
It is very easy to leaflet in England, as most homes are terraced homes with a letterbox at street level it should be no problem for a couple of individuals to spend a Saturday afternoon informing their neighbours.
Please don't fall into the trap of thinking someone else will do it. For every 1000 people reading this site, there is probably only one indvidual who actually does something. If someone in Brighton is reading this, then that person will have to be you.

Was that in the town of Lewes? They always do that in Lewes, it's an old tradition. As a Catholic, I don't really care that much; I don't think they mean anything by it.
I'm in favour of Guy Fawkes' Night. It celebrates the foiling of a terrorist plot to destroy the nearest thing we then had to a democratic legislature. I let off fireworks with the best of them.
As the debate rages re whether there even are such things as 'British values', I find more and more I'm rereading Macaulay's History of England, which is really a history of the 1689 revolution. It's good to be reminded of how the English responded to a bunch of powerful people who were so obsessed with their religion that they forgot how to be English ...
