TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday an Israeli strike on Syria would be considered an attack on the whole Islamic world that would bring a "fierce response", state television reported.
The Thug-in-Chief's remark appears as a more forthright use of Qur'an 5:32, often bandied about by Islamic apologists to convince the Western public that Islam is a "Religion of Peace":
"For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly Our messengers came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land."
The Reuters article continues:
"If the Zionist regime commits another stupid move and attacks Syria, this will be considered like attacking the whole Islamic world and this regime will receive a very fierce response," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying in a telephone conversation with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The president made the comments after Israel struck Beirut airport and military airbases and blockaded Lebanese ports in reprisals that have killed 55 civilians in Lebanon since Hizbollah guerrillas captured two Israeli soldiers a day earlier.
"He (Ahmadinejad) also said it was a must for the Organisation of the Islamic Conference to become more active regarding the new crisis created by the Zionist regime," state television reported.

This, along with Mashaal's ridiculous "I'm the man" press conference today in Damascus taking credit for the kidnappings, sure makes it seem like Iran is trying to goad the Israelis into hitting Syria, for whatever reason. Ahmadinejad and the mullahs are clearly orchestrating the whole thing, either in order to try and get Israel to overstretch itself, or maybe to stage a crisis to ease the nuke deal pressure for a few more months (which is scary, as it indicates that Iran is very close to deploying nuclear weapons), or maybe to set up a radioactive surprise for Tel Aviv and prompt the 12th Imam to come on down.
I've gotta admit, as much as I've thought that Ahmadinejad was an apocalyptic nut all along, it's still pretty amazing to watch this actually playing out. And still so many people don't take Ahmadinejad's constant "Israel will be destroyed soon!" comments seriously, and whine about how Israel is letting a few dozen fringe people in Hamas and Hizballah ruin peace, etc., like all this crap isn't linked and part of the same jihad. This really is just like the world ignorning Mein Kampf in the 1930s. You would think that we would eventually clue in to what's goin on.
At least Israel seems to finally be getting it. And there do seem to be more people supporting Israel right now than I expected. I sort of thought that the condemnation would be just insane today after the airport bombings, but you still see a lot of people laying blame on the jihadists, where it of course belongs. I think more people are cluing in, though it's still a depressingly small number given the magnitude of the threat.
Anyways, go Israel! Bring the boys home and make sure Hamas, Hizballah, and their puppeteers in Tehran can never threaten Israel or any other democratic state again.

This urge to minimize collateral damage - noble as it is - is precisely what Mohammedan armies use against us. I hate to bring up the WWII example, but out there, nobody bothered about collateral damage caused by bombing German or Japanese cities. Nor should they have. I have no desire to prolong the conflict, or have any Infidel casualities sustained - I think that the 8 soldiers that Israel lost yesterday as a result of a tank driving over a large explosive device in Lebanon was bad enough.
Carpet bomb Damascus. Use a neutron bomb if needed - you can be sure both Khaled Mashal and babyface Assad will be covered. Eviscerate the Syrian army, and let a civil war between the Sunnis and Alawites follow. Well, I heard an interview with a WWII bomber pilot who still feels sad about the number of German civilians he killed, and said many others felt that way too. But it had to be done.

People who agree with that sentiment are taking things WAY too far in my view. I don't use the term 'collateral damage'. I won't distance myself from the fact that there is huge suffering and death. One can acknowledge that, not gloat over the deaths and still accept that it must be done. In fact that is the only way. Gloating over killing is horrible. At the very most, in the case of removing a serious threat, I might feel relief. Maybe I just lack bloodlust...
