I wondered why Al-Qaida was being so quiet. It seems to take about a week to 2 weeks to hear from them via videotape. So, it takes a while to get the video to where it can be aired. As far as I know Russia has never created muslim states in Europe and contributed greatly to the liberation of the Balkans from Islam in 1878.

Put aside all other issues that may divide us and unite against a common problem....Islam.
I have managed to argue with some success with liberals by ignoring all the other issues I might disagree by getting them to admit that Islam is the problem. Use a plan depending on who you are talking too.
(1) Religion: Remember most libs and semi-libs do not like or don't trust religion. Thus use that to motivate them to dislike what Islam is.
(2) Women: If talking to a womens rights activist use the many examples of what happens to a women in Islamic nations. Give them examples from the classical Islamic teachings and give them examples of what is said now.
(3) If talking to a homosexual use examples of what happens to homosexuals in egypt or arabia to motivate them to take up the cause.
(4) Bleeding Hearts: If dealing with bleading hearts show them what muslims are doing to minorities in their countries.
(5) African-Americans: If dealing with a liberal african-american show what is going on Africa now. Show them the slave trade and slavery in Africa today. Then put that in historical context. Islam started the african slave trade etc.
(6) Be positive! Talk about common belief in freedom etc. How we can get along etc. Don't try to convert them to your faith and please don't shove your faith in their face becuase it will turn them off. Don't even give them you political party.
(7) Don't attack them but give them reasons to dislike Islam. The key is to seperate our common dislike of Islam from other issues like taxes, abortion, stem cells, religion, etc.
(8) when all else fails show them human suffering caused by muslims and point them in the correct direction.
These work in the U.S. but different plans will have to developed in other countries.

BBC Online has now consistently for about the past two weeks featured almost exclusively as their lead story something about the war; and in almost all cases the word 'Israel' occurs first in the headline with an active verb.
Headlilne photos are typically of destruction, suffering etc., and any story, like the bombing of the UN outpost, that can be exploited to characterize Israel as a wanton aggressor, has received drawn out coverage lasting days; and reports usually accept at face value (and place great emphasis on) reports from biased sources, like the UN.

It sounds strange that the Russians would work with Islamists because they are fighting a holy war with each other in Chechnya.
And the reason for Russians talking about a naval base in Syria is because of US attempts to pressure them out of their main naval base in the Black Sea: Sevastopol in Crimea, (an area that they liberated from Islam in the Crimean war).
Instead of pressuring Russia by planning to expand NATO with Ukraine and Georgia, the US should pressure the jihadists by inviting Israel to join NATO. Thereby Hizbollahs attack on Israel would be an attack on all of NATO. (And any European nation or Turkey unwilling to accept Israeli membership of NATO should be politely asked to leave the alliance and pay for their security themselves).
The Russians have many faults but they can barely keep their own federation together and are to weak to lead an arab coalition. And it's kind of hypocritical to criticize Russian weapons sales to Syria and Iran when the US is arming Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt?
I'm sure that you are a good well-meaning person but instead of focusing on imaginary enemies such as Russia and weakening the anti-jihadist camp, you should focus on the real enemy.

Looking at a globe, starting at Spain and going to the left until you get to Iraq, it seems that Ayman is going around the world the other way from what people think, essentially targeting his "attack" to everywhere not already subjugated by arabs (including non-arab muslim areas).

Let them do whatever is needed, including have UNIFIL leave, and launch a no-holds barred assault on Hizbullah, without taking pains to minimize civilian casualities. If innocent Lebanese civilians die, let it be recognized that their blood is on the hands of Hizbullah, and the Lebanese government that refused to disarm them like everyone else.
Also, Sheba Farms is a part of the Golan Heights, annexed by Israel, and therefore, properly, Israeli terretory. No negotiations need happen with the Syrian thugs on that. If Syria's going to make trouble, level Damascus, Hama and Latakia, and let there be a civil war there - Alawite vs Sunni. And Israel do what it needs to finish the war.

Yes, we arm Saudi, etc. I saw this first-hand when I worked in Dubai UAE. The newspaper was one huge advertisment (pages and pages) for an arm sales convention. It was a real eye-opener.
Weapons are regularly sold for profit by all kinds of democratic nations. I do think that it is irresponsible to sell weapons to nations that support terrorism and so I do not like the fact that we support Saudi. However, if we didn't, the Russians or Chinese certainly would.
You may dislike my raising the Russian issue on this board, but let's watch and see how things play out over the next week or so with Russia, Turkey, Syria and Iran.

Re: the Arms Sales. When I was MUCH younger, and madly in lust, I spent a summer in Europe with a young lady who was the multi-lengual secretary and translator for an arms dealer, mostly to the middle-east. The company's brochure (which I re-discover every few years digging in my filing cabinets) pointed out that the firm represented all of the best of America's war industry. They mostly specialized in airport construction, sophisticated high-speed radios and secure coax communications equipment, radar, missiles and launchers, and all kinds of fighter aircraft stuff. I don't want to disclose any names, but the company representative that took us to dinner was a full colonel in the United States Air Force. He didn't wear a uniform (and probably wasn't supposed to be in that country). He had CIA written all over him. He had just returned from a sales trip to the Shah of Iran, selling non-metalic mine detectors. The owner of the company helped host the Paris Peace Talks to end the VietNam war. That's how it goes, apparently, in the world of RealPolitik.
This business arrangement is the typical one called a "commercial cut-out" like the one Ollie North was accused of dealing with in the "arms for hostages" scandal of the mid-1980s. The "cut-out" is a way to avoid certain questions that can arise, and to dis-avow responsibility. Sometimes, it works.
I began to watch, and listen, closely to the news after that exposure. When Israel fought its way into Lebanon in the 1980s, I remember reading (in the Wall Street Journal, I think) that a Soviet submarine had been "caught" at the port at Beirut. It had been smuggling arms to the Palestinians. This fact disappeared just as quickly as it had been discovered, because, I suppose, it was inconvenient and embarrassing to just about everyone.
As a hobby, I started collecting books about the Soviet Union, written by defectors. It became quite clear that the Soviets were the major arms sellers to the terror network, mostly left-radical groups at that time, but also including the Palestinians and some other obscure islamists.
Alas, I didn't see the jihad, even though I was looking.

(I've noticed US-muslim alliances create 2 states in Europe: Bosnia (1992-1995) and Kosovo (1999). And I've noticed Russian support for Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh create a Christian entity in a muslim (former Soviet) republic, while the US is supporting the muslim Azeris and pressuring the Armenians to submit to muslim rule.)

I am a fundamentalist Christian - if by that you mean I take God at His word.
So far as belonging to a sect goes, I am careful to keep the Bible as my reference point, not weird teachings of denominations.
Of course, since you don't believe the Bible IS God's word, you could not possibly understand, still being in ignorance. As a consequence, your ability to grasp the world around you is limited. This is your own choice, since you have elected to be hateful towards people who believe differently to you.
It's odd how 'liberals' are so intolerant when anyone expresses an opinion that is not in accord with their own views. I would compare this to the lack of freedom of thought that you find in Islamic societies.

European Crusader - Some interesting facts for you.
Russia's Black Sea Fleet currently uses a range of naval facilities in the Ukrainian region of Crimea. They operate in the region under a 1997 agreement that allowed Russia to continue its presence in the former Soviet republic for rent of $93 million per year.
The fleet is not scheduled to withdraw until 2017. However the Ukraine has recently voiced concerns that Russia is not paying enough for the facilities and has demanded that a new agreement be signed. Russia says that it will not make any concessions and negotiations between Russia and the Ukraine have stalled.
On June 23, 2006, Ukrainian officials attempted to seize a building and equipment belonging to the Black Sea Fleet, further aggravating the disagreement.
Recently a respected Russian newspaper quoted multiple sources in Russia's diplomatic service and the Defense Ministry, indicating that Russia may be planning to move its Black Sea Fleet to Syria. Russia has started dredging at the Syrian port of Tartus where it maintains a logistical supply point and it may have plans to turn it into a full-fledged naval base. Russia has also launched a modernization project at the port of Latakia, located about 60 miles to the north of Tartus.
A Defense Ministry source said that Moscow was planning to form a squadron led by the Moskva, the Black Sea Fleet's flagship missile cruiser, within the next three years. The squadron would operate in the Mediterranean Sea on a permanent basis.
Over the past two years, partly as a consequence of the war in Iraq, Russia has been carefully cultivating ties with Turkey, Iran and Syria. After losing the Mid-East foothold provided by Saddam Hussein's Iraq, the Russians have been building a new axis of power based on those three key countries. Russia is now Turkey's second-largest trading partner, with a volume of $10 billion in trade per year; Russia strengthened ties with Iran by supplying it with nuclear-related technologies; and last year Russia and Syria made plans to increase diplomatic and military cooperation. Russia wrote-off approximately 10 billion dollars of Syria’s Soviet-era debt and has supplied Syria with Russian made SA-18 surface-to-air missiles.
Russia's arms exports in 2005 totalled a record breaking 6.1 billion dollars. Despite the ongoing controversy about Iran's nuclear program, Russia intends to sell Iran up to 30 Tor M-1 surface-to-air missiles in a deal estimated to be worth up to 700 million dollars.
Russia claims to be our ally and partner in the war against terrorism. However despite US objections, Russia is all too willing to sell advanced weaponry to countries (like Syria and Iran) which support the insurgency in Iraq. Russia has also made overtures to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian government. Russia does not consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization, even though Hamas has claimed responsibility for the murder of more than 500 people in at least 350 separate terrorist attacks since 1993.
Russia is a co-sponsor of the Road Map Peace Plan, but that does not mean they are a friend to Israel. Prior to the elections in January, Russian military experts were sent to the Gaza Strip to train Palestinian security forces. In addition to training, Russia is prepared to provide the Palestinians with armored vehicles, ammunition, and helicopters. In past speeches Putin has called on Israel to make concessions and withdraw "from all the occupied Arab lands back to the June 4, 1967 border."
Tensions in the Middle East continue to increase and recent events indicate that the famed battle prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39 could be on our near horizon. It is during this battle, that God will directly intercede to protect Israel from Magog and its allies.

On your other point, it does seem that those who have no regard for religion, especially those who hate their own Jewish or Christian upbringing, or their own Western culture, are so very quick to embrace the thought that islam is a peaceful religion to be not only tolerated, but accomodated and respected. Those same people do not tolerate, accomodate, or respect Judaism or Christianity to anything near the same degree.
Their attitude cannot be explained as being the result of their rejection of ALL religion, as one might normally expect, because of their favorable treatment of, or disposition toward, practitioners of islam. Nor can that attitude be attributed to an ignorance of the teachings of islam, because, while they are usually ignorant indeed, the attitude has no logical basis outside the teachings of islam.
The anti-Christian, anti-Jewish bias is part of a general Gestalt, a package of anti-Western, anti-American, atheistic, pseudo-egalitarian multiculturalism, morally relativistic but essentially amoral, totally subjective, and devoid of ethics based on objective reality.
They are pseudo-intellectuals of the first order, and cannot be trusted in any way.

Consider this:
If you went to a party and was mingling with the type of people you described above (not that you would), you could talk about Buddha, Islam, Hinduism, Communism or any ‘ism’ for that matter, and they would not only be tolerant of the conversation, but possibly find the topic interesting and maybe choose to join in…..such conversations being politically correct and all.
However, if you were to bring up the name Jesus Christ – you would soon see a very negative or less than receptive response. It seems Jesus is considered ‘foolishness’ to those who are perishing. His name is certainly offensive to them.
Texan, the truth is that the other religions or philosophies mentioned above would not be offensive to 'the lost' at a party, because they are FALSE, demonic religions - mostly stemming from Babylon of old. They are no threat to them OR their lifestyle. Only the Name of Jesus Christ is so very able to make their blood boil.
I am of the opinion that this is really a spiritual matter of their position before God (guilty in their sins).
Their conscience (conscience = with knowledge) tells them that they are choosing to reject God. The evidence is that their reaction to the mention of Jesus is generally angry or bitter or somewhat hateful, full of pride, arrogant, stubborn or even dismissive. Simply put, they are unwilling to submit to God and so anyone who is a Christian or Jew makes them uncomfortable.
It’s particularly interesting how often they will accuse Believers of “judging them”, when actually the Believer isn’t judging them at all. This is often said without the Believer even discussing Christ or the Bible with them. It's often the result of their knowing that someone is a Believer.
See, they basically compare their lifestyle with the 'perceived' lifestyle of the Believer. Once they make the comparison in their mind, they don’t come out so good in the wash and this generally leads them to resent anyone that might make them feel badly about themselves. So the truth is that THEY judge their own selves.
Believers are not better… They recognize their shortfalls. They are just better off. :o)
