And beyond, of course.
Here Amir Taheri provides support for the view I explained in this article -- that we are witnessing Iran's attempt to become the leader of the whole Islamic world.
"God's army has plans to run the whole Middle East," from Taheri in the TimesOnline, with thanks to DFS:
‘You are the sun of Islam, shining on the universe!” This is how Muhammad Khatami, the mullah who was president of Iran until last year, described Hezbollah last week. It would be no exaggeration to describe Hezbollah — the Lebanese Shi’ite militia — as Tehran’s regional trump card. Each time Tehran has played it, it has won. As war rages between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, Tehran policymakers think that this time, too, they can win.“I invite the faithful to wait for good news,” Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last Tuesday. “We shall soon witness the elimination of the Zionist stain of shame.”
What are the links between Hezbollah and Iran? In 1982 Iran had almost no influence in Lebanon. The Lebanese Shi’ite bourgeoisie that had had close ties with Iran when it was ruled by the Shah was horrified by the advent of the clerics who created an Islamic republic.
Seeking a bridgehead in Lebanon, Iran asked its ambassador to Damascus, Ali Akbar Mohtashamipour, a radical mullah, to create one. Mohtashamipour decided to open a branch in Lebanon of the Iranian Hezbollah (the party of God).
Read it all.
The above article proves that Islam is not only at war with Isreal, but also is at war agianst the God of the Holy Bible, both Jewish and Christian scriptures.
“I invite the faithful to wait for good news,” Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last Tuesday. “We shall soon witness the elimination of the Zionist stain of shame.”
The above statement is not just only from the Iranian leader who is crazy to begin with, but is full of demons.
Robert, thank-you for posting the article.
israel is suicidal to play the villain here......
in my opinion Israel must seize the world media stage and paint hezbollah as brainwashed zombie killers who will not stop with israel, they are hiding behind israel, they will continue to butcher innocents worldwide...........
The scriptures tell us that eventually the whole world will turn against Israel. That's when Jehovah will show them that HE is the only God and the world will pay a heavy price for attacking Israel.
Pity the poor fools that turn their backs on Israel. It seems the French are jumping to the front of the line. Kofi and the UN are also up there. The BBC reports are becoming more and more anti-Israel by the hour.
It's a sad fact that all we can do is watch the world turn against Israel and watch the oil-hungry countries gradually push Israel into a corner.
We can only pray that our leaders do not make the mistake of cursing Israel by helping to push them into the corner. God clearly said that he will bless those who bless Israel (why the US has been so blessed) and curse those who curse her.
So who is going to broker this 7 year peace deal then?
"The BBC reports are becoming more and more anti-Israel by the hour."

They are unhinged. At 9:15 EST I heard Ian Lustig berate, bully, do everything he could, with his ill-modulated, shrill viciousness, to force a quiet, meek, far-too-apologetic Israeli spokesman to more or less denounce his own army as deliberate murderers because of the attack on the U.N. position.
The way the Israeli spokesman should have handled it is as follows:
1. Expression of regret

"It is absurd to accuse us, as Annan as done, as you appear to be doing with the viciousness of your tone, to think we would attack such a post deliberately. And a moment's thought would explain why. Even if we were the villains to make us out to be, even if we were dripping with the blood of innocents as the BBC so often makes it appear, with such gusto, such enthusiasm, such real creativity, it would be idiotic even of us, those murderers, to deliberately attack U.N. personnel and thereby, of course, incur the rage of all kinds of people, not least in the countries of the people killed. It makes absolutely no sense from our point of view, and you, Ian Lustig, and you, the BBC, know that perfectly.

Look, don't assume that somehow just because we, as a Western army, taking incredible precautions, dropping hundreds of thousands of leaflets, dialing up telephones all over southern Lebanon to warn people, in Arabic, to leave, doing whatever we can to minimize civilian casualties -- oh, and by the way, why is it you assume, with such insouciance, that those killed in Lebanon, as the figures you give out imply, are all "civilians" -- why do you accept, without more, the assumption that none of these "civilians" could conceivably be Hezbollah? Don't you know that Hezbollah lives beside, dresses often like, civilians?
For god's sake, no airforce is perfect. Remember that famous example of World War II -- when the RAF and American bombers, trying to hit Gestapo headquarters in Denmark, or was it Holland, and instead hit a children's hospital, killing hundreds of children, by accident? Remember the tens of thousands of bombing accidents in that war, in every war since? Do you recall that in Iraq, an American plane accidentally bombed an American convoy, as reported on Fox News, and the pilot, realizing his error, quickly landed his plane and got out in despair? Do you think the American plane that accidentally bombed and killed some Canadian troops, fighting with it against the Taliban, was guilty of deliberate murder? No? Of course you don't.
And do you know that in the war in south Lebanon, that our planes have sometimes, in the heat and chaos of the whole thing -- do you, Mr. Lustig -- know anything at all about warfare, or do you think it is all some kind of perfect video game, where no friendly fire problems ever exist? -- have bombed our own troops? You don't know those things, or you do?
If you don't know, you should. And once you have realized that your charge, the charge of Kofi Annan, is absurd on its face, and disgusting, perhaps the BBC will do something, just a little something, just to pretend to be fair.
But I doubt it."
The header of this post is reason enough that NO muslim country needs advanced warfare, munitions, planes and especially anything nuclear. These people are not sane and responsible enough to carry a BBgun.
It's becoming quite clear.... it's them or us.
Hugh the raid you were referring to was a raid against the Gestapo H.Q. In Copenhagen in March 1945 which in fact was the Shell Building by Mosquito bombers of the R.A.F. The raid was successful in the fact that they hit the bottom stories where the Gestapo records were stored destroying them, saving many thousand of Danes from deportation. In the ensuing panic and fire many Danish resistance fighters held in cells on the upper floors, managed to escape. The R.A.F. Had to attack at a very low altitude to avoid flak some planes even flew below roof top level down the centre of some of the streets unfortunately one of the second wave of bomber crashed into a school killing 110 Danish School children.
"These people are not sane and responsible enough to carry a BBgun."
You'll shoot your I(slam) out, kid.
Man, I just love these fascinating bits of history, and what a picture the whole paints! Thank you for all the contributors who share their knowledge and wisdom here.
s it true that the saying: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" is incorrect?
I'm told the correct version is: "What we learn from history is that we do not learn from history."

One of the criticisms of the Bush Administration's decision to invade Iraq was that the United States should have been invading Iran instead. That may have been a valid point. At least the US should have considered treating Iran and Iraq as a single entity and invaded both simultaneously.
I have often regreted the USA's timidity in its dealings with the Iranian Mullah-monsters. Clearly the world needed resolve in handling these fanatics and to this day no such resolve seems to exist at the international level. Tehran now appears to interpret this overall lack of resistance as a green light for global Islamic conquest.
Speaking of Khatami:
A friend of mine who was born and raised in Tehran (a Christian Assyrian), and who still has some family in Iran, once told me that it was the Mullah KHATAMI who masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing!
This man was ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS!!!
I believe him too.
I'm sure you're all aware of the finding in Ireland:
Irish Worker Finds Ancient Book of Psalms
By SHAWN POGATCHNIK, AP
DUBLIN, Ireland (July 25) - Irish archaeologists Tuesday heralded the discovery of an ancient book of psalms by a construction worker who spotted something while driving the shovel of his backhoe into a bog.
The approximately 20-page book has been dated to the years 800-1000. Trinity College manuscripts expert Bernard Meehan said it was the first discovery of an Irish early medieval document in two centuries.
"This is really a miracle find," said Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum of Ireland, which has the book stored in refrigeration and facing years of painstaking analysis before being put on public display.
"There's two sets of odds that make this discovery really way out. First of all, it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing."
He said an engineer was digging up bogland last week to create commercial potting soil somewhere in Ireland's midlands when, "just beyond the bucket of his bulldozer, he spotted something." Wallace would not specify where the book was found because a team of archaeologists is still exploring the site.
"The owner of the bog has had dealings with us in past and is very much in favor of archaeological discovery and reporting it," Wallace said.
Crucially, he said, the bog owner covered up the book with damp soil. Had it been left exposed overnight, he said, "it could have dried out and just vanished, blown away."
The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel.
Wallace said several experts spent Tuesday analyzing only that page -- the number of letters on each line, lines on each page, size of page -- and the book's binding and cover, which he described as "leather velum, very thick wallet in appearance."
This Psalm could have been written yesterday.
Psalm 83
O G-d, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O G-d, do not be still.
For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves.
They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones.
They have said, "Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more."
For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant:
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites;
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assyria also has joined with them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah.
Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera {and} Jabin at the torrent of Kishon,
Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became as dung for the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, "Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of G-d."
O my G-d, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind.
Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,
So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm.
Fill their faces with dishonor, That they may seek Your name, O L-RD.
Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, And let them be humiliated and perish,
That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.
moderationist, you say...in my opinion Israel must seize the world media stage and paint hezbollah as brainwashed...
Perhaps you dont realise but the media is mostly left, very much against Israel, and a saudi prince owns shares in one of the media outlets, I think Murdocks..I cant for the life of me understand why the Middle East is so much against this tiny little country who has only 7 million people... and I agree with you that this is only the beginning, Mohammad started the same way, destroyed a few caravans and no one said anything, then he destroyed a jewish town and no one did anything, all the time he gathered strength and numbers, yes the Muslim army is at it again...
Perhaps we should be boycotting media outlets like the BBC until they start telling the truth... not buying anything which is published in its papers has worked before...
