STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - The head of an exiled Iranian opposition group accused Western nations on Wednesday of appeasing Tehran with incentives to halt uranium enrichment that she compared to moves to placate Hitler before World War Two.Maryam Rajavi, leader of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said she had clear indications that Tehran would not give up its enrichment activities and that diplomatic efforts by the European Union and the United States to avert a crisis were only rewarding the Tehran government's strategies.
"The further they move forward, the more concessions the West is making," Rajavi told a news conference at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. "So incentive measures are just precipitating a monumental disaster."
When Europe "appeased" Adolf Hitler in 1938 by giving him part of Czechoslovakia in exchange for peace, it only encouraged him to start a war that cost millions of lives, she said.
"The solution to this crisis is neither appeasement nor war. It is to be found in democratic change in Iran."

I can see why this person might think this. It is evident everyday the closer you look, the more you see the west, mostly the US leading the way to back the wrong side.
The US isn't backing Tehran yet, but who knows I'm sure they're trying. They back the Saudis, Turks, Pakistanis, Egyptians, Bosnians, Albanians, if you're one of the Islamic groups not being supported, you have to wonder maybe I'm not killing enough Christians or Jews? Is my rhetoric a little soft? What is this strange thing that decides when the US will back the wrong side, what is the criteria?
Agim Ceku is a special guest in Washington, lovely he is an expert at ethnic cleansing (Christians though), the Saudi Princes fly regularly to Washington (Excellent maybe they are showing off their hate literature to the President?), the Turks well they claim they are secular and openly hate all of their neighbours,(that's a good reason to support them), I'm sure the Iranians will get it right one day and will find the US there to back them. Maybe they'll wipe out a group of Serbs during a long range missile test(that just might be the trick).
Let's hope someone will actually wake up and see the hypocrisy in these administrations.

It didn't work last time. Elections aren't a magic pill. I think, as with Iraq (and even Turkey), the problem is far more intractable than that.
All these statements by Iranian 'exiles' advocating 'democratic change' in Iran.
(just how the heck is that going to be brought about anyway? ...meaningless).
The special I saw showing the Iranian youth to be 'just like the youth in the west', with their go-cart racing, paintball and downloading western music off the internet.(and just how the heck did the journalists get past the imams for that scoop anyway?).
The dominant message from that special was "Democratic revolution just 'round the corner in Iran"...yea, right.
Doesn't anyone else smell something fishy here?

Democratic change in Iran? How is this going to happen? Also be careful what you wish for.
Iraq has democratic change, they voted for an Ayatolla(Guaranteed to spew anti western rhetoric soon as the US withdraws), Afghanistan has democratic change(No change in philosophy about Islamic law), Palestinians had democratic change(They voted for Hamas). The point here is, if left to the guy at the grass roots level they will almost always pick for the religion of death.
This is an enormous problem the world is facing today.

I read the prefice and it is quite compelling...
His argument is (Islam cannot be reformed).. it is a cancer that either will kill you unless you kill it first (my paraphrase)...
I understand what president bush is trying to do in iraq..
