Three to six bombs exploded on commuter trains in Mumbai, India, during the evening commute July 11. Blasts were reported along the Western Rail Line at the Khar, Matunga, Mahin, Jogeshwari and Mira Road rail stations. All local trains in Mumbai have stopped.The perpetrators of this attack are likely members of Islamist militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Indian security forces have uncovered a number of LeT cells in and around New Delhi and Mumbai in recent weeks. The cells had plans for coordinated attacks against infrastructural targets, including ports and rail lines. Prior to the blast, a number of bomb threats were made against major Indian rail lines. These actions in the lead-up to the Mumbai attack are consistent with the militant tactic of "pinging the system" to detect response times and give victims "threat fatigue."
India was due for a militant attack by LeT in a major urban area. Though Indian security forces have been particularly effective in uncovering a number of LeT cells throughout the country, they failed to completely disrupt LeT's plans.

I sympathize with the suffering Indian people and do not want to rub any salt in their wounds. But their government, through its foreign policy and diplomacy, has --even if only in a minor way-- encouraged the jihadist terrorists that struck India today. Last week, India voted with the majority in the UN's new so-called "human rights council," a renaming of the discredited "UN human rights commission." The majority voted to scold Israel for allegedly violating the "human rights" of terrorists and their sympathizers by defending itself --insufficiently-- against the Hamas by attacking the Hamas' Gaza stronghold. Maybe somebody in the foreign ministry in Delhi ought to think about how encouraging the Hamas can also encourage Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Tom Friedman, who unfortunately uses up valuable space as a columnist, and valuable time as a talking-head on Charlie Rose (what does Amanda Burden see in him? and all those foundations that support him and that show?), and money ($45,000 per speech) of poor unsuspecting members of trade groups who are led to believe that Tom Friedman is a guide to anything, should bethink himself. Now that he is Mr. Energy, perhaps he no longer has time for such trivial matters. But it was just a year or two or three ago that he was flogging his "World-Is-Flat" wares, telling us all about the wonders of outsourcing in Bangalore and suchlike.
One wonders if his bright enthusiasms can accommodate, for example, bombs going off that shut down the financial district in Mumbai. Or does that kind of thing not fit his theories, and therefore, need not be discussed?
As for his new self-appointed role as Mr. Energy, it is perhaps not strange that he cannot quite understand the role of the Saudi lobby in preventing a sensible energy policy, including those taxes on gasoline that Friedman appears to believe is his idea, along with so much else (this seizing upon the obvious, and trumpetting it as his own even as he manages to slightly miscomprehend things, is his stock-in-trade).
Let's see if the author of "The World Is Flat" can figure out why India's future might not be quite so rosy as he predicts -- and if he can figure out exactly why, and what might need to be done.
Time to "bring the war home".... to islamabad? India needs to consider the possibility.

That's a correct point, and isn't rubbing salt in our wounds: the distinction between the Indian government and the Indian people should be made: the latter is too busy day to day to give two hoots about the UN, and is only supportive of it when the perception exists that the UN is on India's side. But you are right - the various Jihads are a global Jihad, and Israel's fight is India's fight is Russia's fight is Thailand's fight is America's fight is Israel's fight... The unfortunate part of this is that it's a point no infidel government recognizes, but one that ultimately, everyone who gathers in Mecca for their annual Nuremburg rally does.

The easy guess is these were not suicide bombings. They were done similar to Madrid where charges were remotely detonated. We shall see.

We read that villages in Southern Thailand are being abandoned to Muslims due to Muslim terror. Muhammad taught that terrorism pays off if used correctly. What a contrast to the peaceful religions. There is noting in Buddhism or Christianity or Judaism about promulgating terror as as means for gaining converts and that is what Islamic imperialism is about. More people in the Ummah.
