More evidence that if non-Muslims meet intimidation from jihadists with strength, they will have a chance of victory. The jihad advances most energetically and enthusiastically when its opponents are paralyzed by fear and the politically correct imperative to avoid appearing to be anything but indefatigably committed to peaceful solutions, no matter how disadvantageous.
"Militants cave in on hostage ultimatum," from The Australian, with thanks to JE:
THE captors of Israeli corporal Gilad Shalit have reneged on their ultimatum to end negotiations about his fate, vowing yesterday they did not plan to harm him.Palestinian officials described the deadline of 6am Tuesday set by militants for Israel to agree to a prisoner swap as "a negotiating strategy". They claimed the captured soldier remained alive and well and that they would continue their attempts to win his release.
More Israeli tanks entered northern Gaza last night, but nine days after the start of Operation Summer Rains, a full-scale invasion had yet to be launched. Israeli forces remained confined to two small communities in the north and the derelict airport at the southern end of the strip.
The Israeli military said it would expand the Gaza operation by laying siege to vacant fields near the airstrip that had been used to launch home-made rockets at Israel.
The Palestinian Government said it hoped to complain before the International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague about the Israeli offensive, arguing that the heavy toll the attack had taken on civilian infrastructure broke international law.
But Israel claims every aspect of its operation is legally valid and says it plans to intensify military activity. Israeli leaders have repeatedly said they will never negotiate on a prisoner swap.
I will be glad for the soldier when he gets back. muslim thugs were afraid of being annihilated since Israel seemed determined this time, and even the international community was not calling out in support of these 'palestinians'. They will think twice before mounting such an attack against Israel again, but only for a short while. Their history shows it. They'll be back.
Israel plans to re-occupy some territories in gaza.

Meh. Sorry, but Do not be surprised if he's already dead.
"..When is Israel going to seize the world stage of victimhood?"
A Mohammedan poster above (murder*#...something...)
insists on ridiculing the cult of Islam even further: 'We are victims'- he shouts, 'we will not be outdone by the Joooooozzzzz....'
You are well and truly a victim, mr. Mohammedan:
You are a victim of your own idiocy and the Pali-derangement-syndrome, the illusion to get away with terror if you only scream loud enough and with the backing of the well oiled Saudi-Arab propaganda machine...
No sympathy for you, mr. musulman.
Not here. Not now and not in the foreseeable future. The world is up to your shtick, we got your number...
Unfortunately it is Israel that has blinkers on:
Olmert is a wus with little belly and less vision.
The Palestinian Authority must be dismantled or killed - it was Fatah that did the kidnapping, not Hamas. Why is Olmert the Fool carrying water for Abbas ?
The short and the long term solution is total war on the Jihadi bastards and their uma, which requires confidence, vision and a real act of courage.
Tanks for the memories...
Hear O Israel:
The policy of "disengagement" is disingenuous: call it what it is, the policy of retreat.
Why distinguish between the Jihadi Hamas who wants to kill you now versus the Jihadi Palestinean Authority that wants to kill you later (and with your own weapons) ?.
What an absurd situation, and to have that fool Olmert in charge - those who value Israel as a beacon and as an ally must weep.
If I am remembering rightly, Israel has swapped prisoners in the past. The delay may not be so much a concession as an attempt to preserve the value of what they imagine to be a bargaining chip.
I do wonder whether the "collective punishment" methods may have unintended future consequences. "Honor" and "vengeance" are cultural values for many pre-modern Arabs. Deaths, even accidental ones, must be avenged or otherwise "paid" for. I have read that this has been a problem in Iraq.
This is not to speak in defense of Hamas or the PA.
What would be desirable to have is a very selective, targeted way of killing the militants, that gets them but leaves neighbors physically unharmed. That might deter the militants both through the threat to their own safety and the reduction in likelihood of harm to neighbors. The militants want "collateral damage" in order to arouse their neighbors to more violence and so they launch their attacks from populated areas.
That would not deal with the underlying problem of Islam itself, but as an interim strategy, it might slow the rate at which radicalizable Muslims become radicalized. Of course, there may not be many unradicalized
Muslims left "between the river and the sea".
What a dreadful mess.
Isn't shooting rockets at civilians breaking "international law"?
The Hague should arrest anyone who shows up arguing from this lunatic position about Israel's "violations" done in self-defense.
But, of course, the Hague is too busy releasing Muslim war criminals to notice a new influx.
Bravo ! Bravo ! Israel, Bravo !
Destroy Islam !
I made this Video, it Definately almost goes far enough! Please rate it and comment on it.
Thank you...

Moderationist:
5 decades of seldom challenged (by the MSM) Palestinian propaganda and Muslim/"non-aligned" domination of the UN has effectively rendered Israel the Goliath in this piece. The only things to have altered European opinion ever so slightly is the way "immoderate" Muslim immigrants behave on European soil, the election of Hamas, and Hamas's continued, blatant insistance (vs Fatah's couched) that they are working for a one all-Islamic state solution. (I don't know of any European power that supports the complete elimination of Israel, only the rolling back to the 1948 borders.)
Nice work on the video, WIDEAWAKE.
the peaple in gaza have been suporting hamas and the plo and the other terroist groups attaking israel for years and as the saying gos
as you sew the wirlwind sow shall you reap
well the arabs sewed war and it looks like they have finaly got thejews mad and now there trying there old trick of crying victem the probelm is there are far to many that will echo that cry and convinitly forget it was hammas who started this mess
Here's an interesting post on the dilemma that Hamas finds itself in.

This seems to articulate American and Israeli foreign policy.
Jorge (pronounced "hor-hey") Bush has infected Olmert with his suicidal embrace of globalism at the expense of national sovereignty.
The only thing Israel has to show for it so far is more missle attacks.
When Germany sent their V2's slamming into schools in London -- it was considered all out war just in case someone is looking for some kind of legal precedent for taking action if someone is trying to kill your citizens!
Following "hor-hey's" advice will cost you a nation to start with and your children's lives in the end!
"..When is Israel going to seize the world stage of victimhood?"
I get the impression that it will be never... never again! There are times when reminding the world of Israel's rights, palestinians' atrocities and Jewish history might be a good idea. But perhaps they simply can't do it, and need to be seen and to see themselves as strong and dignified.
From the article above:
The Israeli military said it would expand the Gaza operation by laying siege to vacant fields near the airstrip that had been used to launch home-made rockets at Israel.
The Palestinian Government said it hoped to complain before the International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague about the Israeli offensive.

As much as possible, Israel does do targeted hits, and tries to avoid civilian caualties. This is difficult when jihadis not only hide among the civilian population, but are often supported by them as well.
I love the quote above: Israel is going so far out of their way to avoid civilian casualties that they are laying seige to *vacant fields*! And yet, the Palestinians are still claiming this to be a "war crime". Unlike the kidnapping and execution of Israeli citizens, of course....
If we meet islam with strength, we're guaranteed to win. It's that simple. We have but to bestire ourselves, and within a few decades, the entire horror of islam could easily be tossed up on the ash heap of history.
We have but to act to win. It's just like the thirties.
From Ynet Talkback:
Good stuff from Gabrielle Goldwater.
She was responding to daniel who said: "In Holland the white folks simply move out. That's what they do here. When the Arabs move in, the whites move out. From the centre of Amsterdam they fled to the suburbs. From the suburbs they fled to Almere."
daniel: you cannot compare Holand to Jerusalem
you want Jews to move out ?
you must be kidding with your post
Well you may want to give Holland and let Muslims take over ????
Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel - so you want Israeli Jews to give up their Capital ?
You really have NO clue about Israel and it's history.
The term "Palestinian" is itself a masterful twisting of history.
To portray themselves as indigenous, Arab settlers adopted the name of an ancient Mediterranean tribe, the Philistines ("Invaders" in Hebrew), that disappeared out over almost 3000 years ago.
The connection between this tribe and modern day Arabs is nil.
Romans, in order to conceal their shame and anger with rebellious regions, changed the references to Judea and Samaria by naming them Palestine.
