Details emerge about the letter the Thug-in-Chief recently sent to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The official line is that the full text of the letter will not be published, which is unfortunate, as it would be useful (though not surprising) to know if Ahmadinejad invited Merkel to convert to Islam, as he did in his letter to George W. Bush earlier this year.

Iran's leader had sent a 10-page letter to the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday. It contains "many claims that are not acceptable to us, in particular about Israel, the state of Israel's right to exist and the Holocaust," government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm said on Friday in Berlin. In the past, Ahmadinejad has made comments in which he labelled the Nazi Holocaust a myth and called for the destruction of the state of Israel. "Our position on these questions is known," Wilhelm said, noting that Merkel has repeatedly identified Israel's right to exist as a cornerstone of German policy and that "it is in no way acceptable to us to question it."
Ahamdinejad's letter says nothing about the ongoing international dispute over Iran's nuclear program. Nor does it state the Iranian president's position on the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Wilhelm said.

The life of the iranian Reza Manipour Abri is endangered. He is about to be deported from Germany to Iran, despite him being a devote christian and so being free to be killed by any Muslim who would not have to expect prosecution.

The German official who described the Ahmadinejad letter as "rather wierd" might better have described it as containing, but in a concentrated form, the usual Muslim propaganda about how Muslims should not have to suffer because of what is now widely called (I would prefer not to use the term but will yield here to general usage) Holocaust. This is meant to both show a certain recognition of Jewish suffering -- completely phony, and certainly not accompanied by any real sympathy -- with an appeal to German, or larger European guilt, which many in the Muslim world have correctly identified as a kind of free-floating "guilt" that, while it may seem superficially to have been prompted by participation in the genocide of European Jewry by the Germans and also by willing collaborators across Europe, in so many countries, and in so many ways, actually is a "guilt" that the Muslim Arabs have often managed to turn to their own advantage, presenting themselves as the true current victims of that Holocaust -- because the Jews, you see, in turn victimized them. There is no need to 'argue' the holocaust with anyone ever.
Just bring up the glaringly simple fact that the Nazi war criminals themselves on trial for their lives (including the commandant of Auschwitz) NEVER even THOUGHT to make a case that it didn't happen or that it was even exaggerated. The refrain was always 'we were obeying orders'.

This letter is truly disturbing. It shows that the leader of a country on the verge of nuclear capability is so deluded by his fanatical religion that he actually believes there was no holocaust. Based on his previous statements, one could at least make a spurious claim that he was simply a slimy, opportunistic politician telling his audience (the Iranian populace) what they want to hear. Since this letter was directed towards the West, it proves irrefutably that he is a nut.
My advice...assasinate him now!

Just write the form you see starting with the ampersand where the letter would be, exactly as you see it. The browser will interpret it for the letter you want. I escaped the ampersand when writing the character reference (I used the numeric character reference for the ampersand).
You can also, on most browsers, use the "view source" command from the right-click menu to look at the HTML source code for the page and search until you find the piece of the page where the text occurs. Then you can look at how someone actually wrote it to get the desired effect.
While Wikipedia is questionable in a lot of cases, you can look up "numeric character reference" for a small description as well as a link at the bottom of the page for tables full of other characters you can use.

tg - I for one have been posting less often lately but I can assure you it has nothing to do with censorship. I work full time but nevertheless made at least one post to this site almost every single day for the past year and for the year prior to that I posted every single day at Michael Totten's site before he ran off to Lebanon (it was getting time to end the relationship anyway after he called me an Islamophobe and some of the posters thought I was being “hateful” for criticizing Islam itself as opposed to “islamofascism”. It was really wonderful to come here and feel among like minds!). I also have read almost every single comment at both sites before posting, which is pretty time consuming in itself (especially lately here at JW, as the sheer number of threads per day has multiplied!). But additional obligations have now come into my life which will make it much more difficult to post so regularly (i.e. daily) for the foreseeable future. That's all there is to it. No hidden reasons. No grievances. I’m actually going through ‘blog commenter’ withdrawal but it simply can’t be helped.
However, I also know there are lots of lurkers out there who read here regularly (as I did before posting) but who think to themselves that they have nothing to add or that they aren’t articulate enough to post something or whatever it is they’re thinking.

I'm fairly certain that Ahmadinejad is quite certifiable and was hoping that he would find in Merkel a soulmate on the issue of the Holocaust in particular and Jews in general.
He's made it quite clear both through his public speeches and conferences that he has hosted that as far as he's concerned, the Holocaust was a collosal Jewish hoax perpetrated to extract money and support for Israel from Germany. But, because he is as irrational as he is, he similtaneously believes that he can guilt Germany into ceding German territory for a Jewish state on European soil because it's Germany's fault that there were so many Jewish refugees left alive to go flooding into Israel in the 1930s and '40s.
Funny thing is that Iran made it's own sizable contribution to Israel's population. There are about 200,000 or so Persian Jews living in Israel, including the former Minister of Defence, Shaul Mofaz, and the former President, Moshe Katzov.
