Reward offered for Zarqawi's successor

Such rewards, for bin Laden and others, haven't worked in the past -- loyalty to Islam and jihad seems to be stronger than the monetary lure. From AP, with thanks to JE:

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has approved up to $US5 million ($6.8 million) in exchange for information on Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the new face of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Al-Masri is presumed to be the successor of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed by an American bomb in early June....

The State Department says people with tips should contact its Rewards for Justice program, any US embassy or consulate or any US military commander in Iraq.

When will the state department understand ? It can distribute rewards left, right and central, but this monster has unlimited heads. Some other muslim shall take his place. Unless and until the world starts taking this threat at its historical face value, nothing can be accomplished to win this war. There were people who saw muslims for the first time in their existence, and they fought them with their own values, result being disastrous for them. Now the Western world is making the same mistake. These people don't understand our ways. The sooner we understand that, the better our chance of survival.

"The world famous historian, Will Durant has written in his Story of Civilisation that “the Mohammedan conquest of India was probably the bloodiest story in history”.

India before the advent of Islamic imperialism was not exactly a zone of peace. There were plenty of wars fought by Hindu princes. But in all their wars, the Hindus had observed some time-honoured conventions sanctioned by the Šãstras. The Brahmins and the Bhikshus were never molested. The cows were never killed. The temples were never touched. The chastity of women was never violated. The non-combatants were never killed or captured. A human habitation was never attacked unless it was a fort. The civil population was never plundered. War booty was an unknown item in the calculations of conquerors. The martial classes who clashed, mostly in open spaces, had a code of honour. Sacrifice of honour for victory or material gain was deemed as worse than death.

Islamic imperialism came with a different code - the Sunnah of the Prophet. It required its warriors to fall upon the helpless civil population after a decisive victory had been won on the battlefield. It required them to sack and burn down villages and towns after the defenders had died fighting or had fled........."

No "bribes" are necessary at all. You are ignoring 1350 years of Islamic history. For the division between Sunni and Shi'a goes back to the late 7th century. by Hugh (prior thread)

...and $6.8 million is such a paultry sum really. Modestly significant for one person, sure, but it doesn't buy as much as you might think.

If someone was foolish enough to take this money, where on earth would they run? The price on their heads would be so much more.

I think this advertisment by Condi is merely for public consumption and not to be taken at face value -- but why such pretense?

Meanwhile, back in Gaza:

Just appeal to the 'benevolence in the heart of Islam', and save Americans their hard-earned tax dollars. After all, you 'know the benevolence in the heart of Islam', don't you, Condi? What? Oh... I don't know how it works? But then, either the reward is a waste of American tax-dollars or Islam isn't 'benevolent' like you said. So, which is it? Oh again, I don't understand Islam? But then, I knew 'Al-Qaida' on 9/11. Did you, Ms. Secretary-of-State?

Witness,
Read your post on that thread. You and I seem to be on the same frequency right now.

.... eiher that or Condi believes the 'reward' works everywhere, like it did in wild west. After all, she also believes in the 'benevolence in the heart of Islam'. Can't blame Ms. secretary-of-state. If the Commander-in-Chief, opens doors to the enemies, why can't Condi live her own fantasy?

...and $6.8 million is such a paultry sum really...

from a posting above.

Are you rich? Do you have more to your name? Normally it would more than suffice to start something new...

Well. it may not be enough to run and hide if you are a Mohammedan, who is balled and chained into this belief-system of Islam, which leaves indeed few choices...

Imagine: You hate infidels, you like your wives covered from head to toe, you are addicted to a certain kind of mental poison, which works like a drug and gives you all the answers to everything you need, now you sell out the chief-terrorist head honcho, where do you go?

Change your religion and live amongst filthy infidels? Very unlikely...

money can't buy 72 virgins...???

Then again... hmmm...

They should offer a Koran, written in Zarqawi's blood, as a reward.

Maybe that'll shake loose his suck-cessor?
