Yes, Ms. Rice, I can understand why you might be getting tired of the old one, but without confronting the Islamic jihad ideology, you will find that your efforts to create a new Middle East will continually end in frustration.
"Rice meets with Olmert in Israel," from AP, with thanks to JE:
JERUSALEM - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, leading the first high-level U.S. diplomatic mission since war broke out in Lebanon, said Tuesday the time has come for a new Middle East and an urgent end to the violence hanging over the region."I have no doubt there are those who wish to strangle a democratic and sovereign Lebanon in its crib," Rice said. "We, of course, also urgently want to end the violence."
In its crib?
Standing beside Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as they prepared to meet in his office, Rice reiterated the United States position that a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon must come with conditions that make an enduring peace. She said she has "no desire" to be back in weeks or months after terrorists find another way to disrupt any potential cease fire."It is time for a new Middle East," she said. "It is time to say to those that don't want a different kind of Middle East that we will prevail. They will not."
Olmert welcomed Rice warmly and vowed that "Israel is determined to carry on this fight against Hezbollah." He said his government "will not hesitate to take severe measures against those who are aiming thousands of rockets and missiles against innocent civilians for the sole purpose of killing them."...
"If we have learned anything, it is that any peace is going to have to be based on enduring principles and not on temporary solutions," Rice said Monday night, appearing with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
That is true. But which principles?
Rice although not perfect, but at least she understands the need for a better middle east, and can distinquish a false truce. whether she understands the true islam we do not know for sure, but you can tell she has an inkling of islam so far with her insistence that Hizbollah disarm and be removed from the border. her Democratic predessor would of already demanded Israel cease and stop all fighting.
A good start would be to outlaw Hizbollah in Lebanon. Anyone subscribing to its dogma would be tried under the charge of incitement to commit murder. Upon conviction jail or deportation.
Outlawing Hezbollah or Hamas type of organizations seems like a good idea, but who would round up the thugs and enforce punishment? Certainly not the Lebanese--they are too weak and are scared to death of these thugs. Certainly no one in the Muslim Community--they sympathize with the thugs and are also probably scared to death of the thugs. Certainly not the U.N.--when have the U.N. ever accomplished a noble and just mission--and they are scared to death of the thugs.
Israel would do it except they would face opposition from all those who would benefit from such action.
The only correct action seems to be to dish out to the Muslim terrorists the same death and violence they deliver every day. Death and violence--the terrorists understand it and respect it (even if they whine and complain when they receive it).
You have to admire those who understand terror and are willing to deal with it in a way the terrorists understand and respect. In Israel over 90% of the populace favor the destruction of the terrorists and are willing to fight. A nation with this type of committment will be a force that will not be easily defeated. This unwilliness to submit to Islam is one of the reasons the terrorists are determined to destroy Israel.
The world is witnessing the whinning and complaining the Islamic countries are doing when a dedicated armed resistance is encountered. Hezbollah has pushed its violence to the point where Israel has no choice but to fight. And Israel is dedicated to fight to the death, the rest of the world should do likewise.
A new middle East without Tehran, Mecca, or Medina.
I go with Bohemond.
"It is time for a new Middle East," she said. "It is time to say to those that DON'T want a different kind of Middle East that we will prevail. They will not." It's getting hot in the kitchen, let's get ready to rumble!!!
"A new Middle East" according to Rice and Bush and company.
"An end to world poverty" according to Jeffrey Sachs, Director and Master of The World Institute.
The messianic and the polypragmonic join hands and are as one.
Fat chance for either. And in all the hectic vacancy and the dreaming of impossible dreams, it is the possible that will be unattended to.
