Anti-dhimmitude in Colorado. He had argued that this was his culture, and that he was being victimized because he was a Muslim. An update on this story from AP, with thanks to all who sent this in:
Centennial - A jury today found a Saudi Arabian guilty of sexually assaulting an Indonesian housekeeper and keeping her as a virtual slave in his suburban home for four years.Homaidan Al-Turki, 37, a citizen of Saudi Arabia who lives in Aurora, had faced state charges of sexual assault, and kidnapping.
After deliberating about a day, jurors convicted him of reduced charges of unlawful sexual contact, false imprisonment, criminal extortion and felony theft.
He faces up to life in prison at sentencing Aug. 31, prosecutor spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said.
After the conviction was announced Al-Turki's attorney, John Richilano, who had argued that cultural differences were at the heart of the charges, said he would appeal. He declined further comment.
About two dozen men, women and children who were in the courtroom in support of Al-Turki erupted in cries after the verdicts were read. Some were distraught and had to be helped by others out of the courtroom, while one man was confronted by a sheriff's deputy and ordered to leave.
Al-Turki, dressed in a full-length white robe, was led away in handcuffs.
Prosecutors and FBI agents have said Al-Turki and his wife, Sarah Khonaizan, brought the now 24-year-old woman to Colorado to care for their five children and to cook and clean for the family.
An affidavit said she spent four years with the family in the suburban home, sleeping on a mattress on the basement floor and getting less than $2 a day.
This must be 'a crime against humanity!"
Call Coffi! Call Amnesia! This is an outrage!
This is an atrocity! Innocent people incarcerated for practicing their religious freedom! Hooper, where are you?
This calls for major demonstrations! This is worse than Koran rage! This is like, well, almost like cartoon rage!
This is an insult to the nation of Islam! Only Jihad against the infidel can correct such oppression and injustice!

Robert -- do you have plans for a book contrasting Sharia polical theory with that expressed by things such as the US Constitution and the Federalist Papers?
I'll even buy it in hardcover...
If the demographics ever kick in (which is the long term aim) these cases will never reach court.

Hmmmm.... that sounds awfully similar to the sentencing reaction of the families in the notorious islamic gang rape cases here in Oz.......

Too damned true.
Unfortunately in the West these days, cultural sensitivity trumps even crimes against humanity.
Hamza himself claimed that he was doing only what the koran endjoined him to - but ofcourse we wont listen.
Below is a quote from an interesting read in The Sunday Times.

If we ever come out of this war with our system of values unscathed, Western historians will consider this age as the most craven of all.

Hope that answers it!
Al-Turki's attorney Richilano argued that "cultural" differences explained things. Not completely false. In the "culture" (as that word is now used today: "the culture of Hollywood," "hip-hop culture," "rock culture") or rather set of accepted practices in Saudi Arabia and many other Muslim countries, what in the West is now regarded as barbarism still prevails. The treatment meted out to the maid -- a treatment which made her a slave -- is not some strange unheard-of thing, but merely an exaggeration of the normal treatment given to low-level workers, especially non-Arabs and non-Muslims, by their Arab masters. This is not the exception, this is the rule.
Does this attitude come from anywhere? Is it connected to the Arab supremacism in Islam? To the violence, the cruelty, that are so much a part of the texts, and of the history of Islamic conquest?
Ali Sina (at www.freedom.org) notes that a main difference between Christianity and Islam is the absence, in the latter, of the notion of "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You." No Golden Rule. Warfare on those others, if those others are not fellow Muslims or, for many Arabs, if those others are not fellow Arab Muslims, and for the Saudis, the contempt for anyone and everyone other than themselves is palpable, and all kinds of workers, even the American airmen in their bases, have been the recipients of that contempt.
sheik yer'mami: "Humanity" for Mohammedans means 'those who believe'- all others are the 'worst of creatures...'
You mean that apes and pigs are the worst of creatures - surely not.
Did you get a chance to read the article in the Sunday Times? It is revealing - not in the sense that he is revealing anything new about the devotees of islam but about the author himself.

The Saudis, and Arabs generally, are like, in the words of Churchill about the Germans, either at your feet or at your throat.
Contempt of others and craven servility, tend to go together.
americaningermany: make crystal clear to these individuals that they are now living in a Western society where such things are still against the laws of the land.
"Still" - that is what frightens, when one considers the huge and ongoing muslim demograhic growth in the West.
Just imagine what will happen when Muslims begin to sit on juries in cases such as this one. Conviction will be nigh well impossible. The Muslims will act to protect their fellow member of the Ummah, no matter how heinous the crime. Our justice system will be paralyzed, and vile practices such as slavery will return to the United States.
And new vile practices, inspired by Islam, and otherwise illegal here, will become commonplace.

What's the bet this creep's lawyer will appeal and get him off?
They will, as usual play the race/victim/muslim card.
If they want to live in the west then they must obey our laws - end of story.
Otherwise they can POQ to some failed islamic state.
Stendec:
mo's on the jury -
that is a particularly scary thought!
Although this is a free country, you muslims are NOT free to behave as you did in your home countries. If you want to live like you did back home, why did you come here?
I wonder why they gave him reduced charges? I also wonder why the MSM hasn't talked about this? This and the case in CA. with the 12 year old girl probably doesn't come anywhere NEAR scratching the surface of how much this is going on under our noses. This isn't just a crime against these women, but a crime against ALL of us.
The MSM should be making headlines on these cases and start putting a little fear into the hearts of muslims who commit these crimes.
From DP111's link - Imam Hamid Ali's comments reflect those of other imams over the last year - that Islamic terrorism had basically been an absolute boon. There's no such thing as bad publicity for these delusional "victims".
The common attitude seems to be that we deserve to be attacked, because we're Zionist-controlled infidels. But it's never Islam that attacks us - their brave and glorious shahidi are always victims of the anti-moslem conspiracy. So even if they did explode is wasn't their faults. The Mossad, MI5 or the CIA did it. After all, who stood to most gain from it? Whether they were terrorists or unwitting stooges, they are still rationalised as victims, glorified as shahid and effectively absolved of any charges of commiting one of the worst of crimes, mass-murder suicide. After all, Islam forbids that sort of thing, apart from where it doesn't.
And thanks to their sacrifice, more people are learning about Islam. They're dominating the news in every country, and every day more infidels realise that one way or the other, Islam is the future, and al-lah is truly greater.
And this perception will continue and spread and develop, a closed-feedback loop of victimhood, triumphalism and denialism, of projected persecution, paranoia and vengeance, that will only be curtailed by direct and resolute confrontaion.
Stendec made an excellent point. At some time in the near future, a case such as this will come before a Muslim majority jury in a county in Michigan or New Jersey. The abuser will be found innocent of slavery, according to the Islamic mindset of Americans who rightfully can sit on a jury. Then what? I have mentioned several times that I was involved in a similar case about 12 years ago. I put a good amount of the blame on the US State Dept., whose embassies dutifully stamp the visas of these slave maids and send them to the US with their Muslim masters. From what I have since learned, ME ambassadors will get an occasional verbal warning from the State Dept. about imported slaves and that is it. I know that the State Dept. winks at Muslims men bringing their wife and "sister-in-law" (second wife) to the US. Of course, the blame is on the abuser for these crimes, but the accessories to these crimes are in our own government.
maryrose,
And how many Muslims work in the State Dept. embassies, stamping visas? Whose interests would they strive to protect--those of the United States with its unholy secular law and sick society, or that of the pious Muslim immigrant "colonialist victims"?
Remember the FBI office in Saudi Arabia, staffed by American Muslim FBI agents, who somehow forgot to lock up their office and their case files as they went on a haj to Mecca? Remember how "diligent" they were in tracking down the perpetrators of 9/11?

Stendec-
Food for thought. It takes just one Muslim to throw a jury of 12. Any area where Muslims are one in twelve, they can hang a jury.
Actually, even if it were an area wher Muslims are one in twenty, the defense lawyer's jury selection could get one on the jury.

Would anyone care to explain to these fellows from muslim countries, who rape and murder, or like the recent incident in Germany, kick and beat their 15 year old pregnant girlfriend to kill the unborn child, that they are NO LONGER living in a muslim country?

It is quite clear, Muslims all over the world, have abhorant disdain for legal system, but Sharia. Ofcourse, practicing taquiyya, Muslims take all necessary oaths/promises, breaking them at the first opportunity. Welcome to Islam!

Critical observation, Poetcomic1. American values are so vulnerable that all an enemy has to do is to land a foot in America. Then, laws, politicians and sanctury-cities host the same enemy, endangering an honest, hard-working, tax-paying American. This is why, strict border-enforcement is so vital to US security. Unfortunately, the Commander-in-Chief is so corrupt that he cares more for Saudi oil and Mexican Pesos mroe than the hitory, the future, the peopel and above all, the previous freedom you mention, Important observation, again.
Alert-
Yesterday reading the paper here in Lawrence Kansas, young med student killed by drunken illegal immigrant driver from Mexico with no license, 3 times blood level of drunk driving.
This man was deported in 2000 for drug dealing, came back and up till now was receiving all kinds of 'benefits'.
The arrogance of this Sa'udi goon is incredible. He probably came here to escape the hothouse of his homeland and breathe a little free air--yet somehow, in site of all the PBS specials on the Civil War, monuments in every small town in America, and commemorations of LIncoln at every turn, he doesn't get it that we don't like slavery here.
They ought to throw the book at him!
Recently in canada the voters gave the boot to the Al-Qaeda friend Liberal Party , the new Conserative Party in power managed to raise the Age-of-consent from 14 to 16 to stop pedophilia and child abuse from the sex trade exploiting young boys and girls.
My point is that the Liberal Minister Of Justice tried to defend 14 year-olds having sex with much older adults ( male/female and male/male ) by insisting that raising the age would cause "Cultural" conflicts and criminalize some homosexual behaviour.
In other words , CAIR and NAMBLA would go ape-sh*t over denying males from raping little girls and boys which would be an attack on their "Right's" from a Cultural background or Sexual preference as the APA no wants declared for Pedophiles.
Canada also had a recent case where a man that inhumanely caught a raccoon with a trap in the backyard , and the Judge let him off because his Cultural norms allowed for his perception of animal Rights and he believed the trap was justified.
Multiculturalism has become a religion in itself and our Constitution is sellectively applied when defining Rights and Responsibilities.
He paid her less than $2 a day? Seems like the IRS should get involved for income tax evasion and paying less than the national minimum wage.
Also I note that "Al-Turki, dressed in a full-length white robe, was led away in handcuffs."
Could it be that he was wearing a wedding dress as a present for his cell mate?
Like many other misdoings involving Muslims we are waiting in vain for the larger Ummah to come out and condem this practice and show some appricition of fundemental human rights, even if they don't exist in Islam. If they want to be members of the modren world this arcahic Islamic view should be discarded, otherwise Muslims should have no intercourse with the modren world and should be locked out. And be dealt with militarily when there existence becomes threatening. I Islam nowhere is the anything akin to equality. I rember when i was at a mall in Doha Qatar, and I watched the Muslim families pass. First would come the bearded patriarch followed by his breeders in the nija suits, and bringing up the rear was their army of Indonesian house keeper task with rear up 15 little jihadis. The concubines also had their own children fathered by the patriarch. How asymetrical to the values of the west. Qatar is an absolutely disgusting country, and the women are considerably freer there than in most Muslim counties. Most Qataris dont work and shun anything below them. The whole country is supported on a huge edifice of slave labor from east asians. The rest of their corporate industry and oil infustructure is all ran by westrners, while they get rich, fat, breed, and hate the west. I hope this sleeze gets life.
DP111--From that Times article:
"Invited by Sabeer, a senior member of the Stratford Street mosque, I attended Marqaz several times. On one occasion after listening to a biyan, or sermon, Sabeer took me to the canteen. We sat cross-legged on the floor on sheets of white paper and were served by men with large buckets of lamb curry and rice. We ate with our hands, one great communal gathering sharing food.
Was I dreaming? Had I time-travelled? I had to keep reminding myself that this was Yorkshire, land of broad vowels, warm beer and Geoff Boycott; but it felt like Pakistan, a country I know and the country that two of the bombers visited, apparently for training, before their attacks."
It felt like Pakistan because it WAS Pakistan--Pakistan come to roost permanently in the country that gave the world the Magna Carta.
Such a tragedy is so immense, so imeasurable, that it's impossible to take in.

Hahaha! I started to say I hope they put him in a cell with a really big black man who HATES the thought of slavery.....but, then, being muslim, he'd probably enjoy it.
Never mind.
Bohemond_1069: I enjoyed your comment about Al-Turki as the waiting bride. I can also clearly picture the screaming, fainting burqa-covered women in the courtroom as they put on an award-winning performance for the reporters and cameras as the little bride left for his jail cell. In answer to your comment about IRS involvement. In the case that I was connected with, the Dept. of Labor washed their hands of it, saying that the slave/maid had signed her contract in the Philippines with a Saudi contractor and, therefore, there was nothing that they could do since no agreements were signed in the US. They were just trying to get rid of the case. When I think of that time in my life, I am still shocked at: the act of slavery and abuse going on in my own town; the attitude of the university officials who tried to cover for the Saudis under the guise, "We don't understand their culture" and...the immense power of the Saudi government to try to get the US legal system to work in THEIR favor and against the victim/slave. Fortunately, they were not entirely successful, but the Saudi couple were able to leave the US (with less money and minus a college degree.)
I AM STILL WAITING. A BOSNIAN MUSLIM IS FOUND GUILTY FOR THE MURDER OF SERBS AND GETS ONLY TWO YEARS IN JAIL. WHEN IS THIS SITE GOING TO POST THIS.
