A SYRIAN minister warned Israel in an interview published today that a major ground incursion into Lebanon would draw his country into the Middle East conflict."If Israel makes a land entry into Lebanon, they can get to within 20km of Damascus," Information Minister Moshen Bilal told the Spanish newspaper ABC.
"What will we do? Stand by with our arms folded? Absolutely not. Without any doubt Syria will intervene in the conflict."
Syria will intervene in the conflict? By doing what? Hiding under the burkas of their women and screaming for the UN to protect them?
We know you will intervene because that is part of the big plan! Israel has been crossing the border for the last week! How far do they have to go? All talk,no action you pussies. Why does it have to be a "major" ground incursion. There is no difference. What about the massive air campaign? Can't compete with that can you?
"If Israel makes a land entry into Lebanon, they can get to within 20km of Damascus," Information Minister Moshen Bilal told the Spanish newspaper ABC.
"What will we do? Stand by with our arms folded? Absolutely not."
OHHHHHH, ok, so it's alright for Hezbollah to mass on Israel's border, but it's not ok for Israel to mass on Syria's border.
Typical hypocritical double speak from these ppl... why am I not surprised.
If Syria intervenes, the inevitable Israeli response, and the inability of the Syrian forces to withstand it, will mark the beginning of the End of the Alawites.
The Syrian Army better get off their fat rear ends and get ready, IDF troops appear to be moving with APCs and Merkava tanks.
Syria watches while Israel goes into Lebanon, then says "don't Hold me back, let me at em!... ahem... ... Why isn't anyone holding me back for heaven's sake?"
"What will we do? Stand by with our arms folded? Absolutely not."
True 'nough. They'll be RUNNING with their arms flailing wildly. It's hard to run with one's arms folded.
It's also hard to stand by with your arms folded when you're having a panic attack, and my guess is there's nobody more panic-stricken right now than a Syrian fighter pilot--especially one old enough to remember the 82-0 massacre the Syrians experienced the last time they unfolded their arms to embrace the Israelis.
The IDF should destroy Hizbollah. "Disarming" Hizbollah is a half-measure that will leave the fight for present Israelis' children to finish.
Further, IDF should dispense with "messages", buzzing Assad's residence, etc. Warning the enemy makes him more difficult to destroy. The first strike will be the more lethal if it comes without warning.
Havoc-
Destroying Hezbollah is a novel idea but difficult if not imposible to acheive. Their leadership can be killed, arsenal destoyed, and operation made ineffective for the foreseeable future, but Hezbollah is a disease affecting the hearts and minds of many Arab youth. Until it is shunned by the world at large including other Arab nations and major media outlets, it will stubbornly regrow like the wart it is.
Look at the Nazis and how they were crushed, shunned, tried, imprisoned, and executed, yet there are still splinter factions that long for the old days. Ineffective, yes. Gone? Hardly.

I didn't say that destroying Hezbollah was easy or that it could be accomplished quickly. It's just something that needs to be done.
Israel will limit its actions to Hezbollah territory in the south of Lebanon and Syria well knows it. And the second the Syrians join themselves into supporting Hezbollah from Lebanese or Israeli air space is but a few seconds from the moment Damascus will be condemned to glow in the dark.
For all the shreiking about Israel's "disproportionate" response to Hezbollah's years of rocket attacks, and, now, invasion of Israel to kidnap soldiers, there ain't no EU leaders who are on side with Syria or Iran, except for the egregious p.m. of Spain, Zapat-zero.
May the Spanish voters hang the viciously anti-Semetic idiot by the kefiya he recently donned for a photo-op.
Syria is a big country ... it this spread to syria .. imagine the magnitute of this war in the region .. Lebanon -- Syria -- Iraq -- Iran -- Afghanistan. There is hateret for isreal in every muslim country ... and the might spread even more ...
but i guess ... it should happen this way ... for a lasting peace
I wander when are the EU going to get in their thick head that all the billions of € they are sending to the Palestinians and the other lazy bunch of blood suchers, are just arming them to attempt the distruction of Israel! Not that they will succed, but it's still like a thorn in their flesh and they will never be able to get on with their business of a peaceful life.
I am sorry that even the USA is giving them money, just so they don't bother Israel! What kind of business is this? It makes me wonder if I don't have to start a terroristic activity myself so that to keep me quite the whole world will give me money!
First the Palestinians wanted their land back (but it never belonged to them in the first place), now they want money to live a holy life? Why can't they go an till the land like other people do, and get some food to grow for a change? Work or die!!!
