You've gotten this poor Muslim to commit a major sin. Muslims are absolutely forbidden to wish "Peace be with you" (Salam aleikum) to an infidel. Maybe your new friend is going to burn in hell with the rest of us?
The delightful thing about a letter of this kind is that the writer unwittingly acknowledges that Islam is ugly. If it is "disparaging" to Islam to report on the behaviors of adherents to Islam, what does that say about the kind of people that Islam motivates its adherents to be, and thus about Islam itself?
It's like the British "anti-religious-vilification" law that was used to forbid non-Muslims from quoting from certain passages of the Qur'an. If a law declares that it is "religious vilification" to quote from certain passage of the Qur'an, that law implicitly acknowledges the vileness of those forbidden passages. The law thus committed the very "offense" it intended to prohibit.
Please, Robert, continue calling attention to the behavior of Muslims around the world. They will disparage Islam for us, by living true to its tenets. "By their fruits you shall know them."

Just a small point of correction. We do not have 'Religious Vilification Laws' here in the UK. The 'Muslim community' tried, with the help of quite a few members of the current government, to get a law banning 'incitement to religious hatred' passed by parliament. Their efforts were frustrated by an alliance of churches (many of them black majority so the government could scarcely play the 'race card'), comedians and actors (Mr. Bean playing a major role!) and some media organisations (especially Premier Christian Radio here in London). By delicious irony the government would have tied the vote had Tony Blair been in parliament for it! You can read about the day the bill finally stumbled here:

I think you may be thinking of the case in Victoria, Australia where two Christian pastors were tried under vilification laws. Their case was used to great effect in showing the dangers of the proposed legislation here in the UK. You can read about that case here:

That law was meant to make it illegal to say something like "islam sucks". They wanted to make that a crime. A "hate" crime. The fact that is was only narrowly defeated shows you how far Britain has gone down that road.
Of course, here in Canada, I understand that if I say to a muslim, "you stupid muslim, go home" I can be charged with some type of crime. He can say the same back to me, but he will not be charged. Anyone from Canada have any info on this?

Google Canada's hate crime laws. Don't forget that Earnst Zundel published literature questioning the holocaust back in the '80s. He was arrested and convicted of " willfully spreading faleshoods". That was a law that was created to silence people who speak out on racial matters. Claim the earth is flat and no charges are laid, although that is also a falsehood. That could be the interpretation of what you are doing by distributing leaflets disparaging islam. What is worse, is that if it falls under hate crime statutes, the punishment is greater.

While people may ponder whether Jesus was a Muslim or not, I have a better question. What was Muhammad before he became a Muslim? I know many muslims will say "He was always a Muslim, from the womb to the tomb." But seriously I am curious. I know he roamed around with various tribes in Arabia when he was a child, but if anyone knows please shed some light on it.

SusanP, Canada is PC land. In PC land, the PC nazis, if I can use that term, are brutal. Zundel was a crank, but he was arrested just for publishing material claiming the holocaust was a hoax. In europe, that is also a crime. Interestingly enough, that law is never applied to muslims that claim the same thing. Only whites, preferably Christian, if they are German, even more so. LOL
He was arrested, and convicted, and sentenced and served his time. After his time was up, they stripped him of his citizenship and deported him to Germany. They would never do that to a muslim that claimed the holocaust was a hoax.
Once the plane landed in Germany, he was arrested by the Germans, charged with the same crime there, tried, convicted, sentenced, and imprisoned in Germany.
So in the case of Lulu, or anyone distributing anti-islamic leaflets in Canada, watch out. It could be a crime. Find out first.

So the problem with any published piece of paper that is disseminated publically, which is what Lulu wants to do, may in fact, be contrary to the Canadian Human Rights Code, which means it is a criminal offence. The Left has thought of everything. They won't even allow you to publish.
I think it is a noble idea. Just don't get caught. Not only do we have to worry about the muslims coming after us, we have to worry about our own government arresting us on behalf of those muslim sensibilities.

Wilful promotion of hatred
(2) Every one who, by communicating statements, other than in private conversation, wilfully promotes hatred against any identifiable group is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
(b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Defences
(3) No person shall be convicted of an offence under subsection (2)
(a) if he establishes that the statements communicated were true;
(b) if, in good faith, the person expressed or attempted to establish by an argument an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text;

So it would seem that if one consistently aims for section 3(b) above, then one's off the hook. Of course, this is not a legal advice...

The funny thing is that Ernst Zundel could have been exhonerated on that basis, and he was not.
Stating that something is the truth, is no defense in canada. Zundel claimed he was speaking the truth, even produced evidence, albeit biased evidence, and the government put him away.

Just to clarify: stating that something is the truth (such as, I stole a car, but I state as the truth that I didn't) is not a defense, period. What consists a defense is the posession of an honet belief in the truth of something (even if it doesn't make it so; for example, I may have unwillingly bought a stolen car). And that was pretty much at the core of the trial by jury that led to the 1985 conviction, rightly or not.
Just as references, this is the text of the appeal by Zundel; and this is text of one of the booklets he distrubuted, which was subject of the same indictment. He was acquited on this count.

Yes, Zundel had the honest belief that he was telling the truth, but that didn't stop the government from convicting him. What you believe is irrelevant if the government thinks that racism is at the core of your beliefs.
I am almost positive that if I publish leaflets saying 'Islam is a warrior religion out to destroy us, rapes our wives, and kill our children', I can believe that to be true, it may be true, but the government is still going to label it hate literature and slap a set of cuffs on me. Websites seem to be immune whereas distribution of printed material seems to break the law.
