August 1939 Alert from Reuters, with thanks to Mackie:
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has told the Syrian military to raise its readiness, pledging not to abandon support for Lebanese resistance against Israel. In an annual address on the anniversary of the foundation of the Syria Arab Army, Assad called on the military to "work on more preparedness and raise readiness of all units".
"We are facing international circumstances and regional challenges that require caution, alertness, readiness and preparedness," Assad said in the written address.
Diplomats in Damascus say the Syrian army has been on alert since the Israeli onslaught on Lebanon began on July 12 after Hizbollah fighters captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid.
The Syrian president should tell Hezbollah to release the two Israeli soldiers and then see what happens. (I wonder if the two are even alive). It seems like these Islamic thugs always want to do things the hard way. When he says he is pledging not to abandon support for Lebanese resistance against Israel, does he mean support for Hezbollah resistance or did he have a slip. His comment infers Lebanon really wants to help with the terrorists (not the innocent Lebanese people as the news reporters and politicians constantly refer to). If Lebanon is the enemy then there are no limits to targets Israel can attack.
The US should immediately provide large amount of military ordinance to Israel. Israel will need substantial military resupply soon.THe Muslim terrorist thugs should be building substantial caskets and ready them for immediate use. Israel is not relenting as well it should be. The Islamic terrorists wanted a fight and now they have a tiger by the tail.
Make no doubt about it, Israel does have a nuclear capability and the Islamic run countries should be wary about pushing too hard. Israel, like a cornered wild animal, will claw you terribly. Unlike America, Israel populace overwhelmingly support their fight for freedom. (Americans are too wishy-washy to be totally committed to a good fight, reminds me of the the limp-wristed French everyone complains about).
The Syrian president is saber rattling and is awaiting orders from his Iranian Ayatollah boss.

the point isn't the two kidnapped Israeli soldiers vs the "prisoners". it's about diverting public attention from the assassination of Rafiq Harriri and Assad's naked ambitions as to the restoration of Greater Syria (which includes Lebanon and Israel).
Hezbollah are a tool of the Syrian and Iranian alliance. They provoked this bloody conflict, every reaction Israel carried out was a reaction to attacks by terrorists.
Assad/Ahmadinejad are turning the Lebanon into a mess in order to occupy the country once more. Of course if they do attack Israel there will be no Assad nor will there be a Syrian army.
Like every time a regular Arab army is confronted by Israel it results in countless pairs of boots being left abandoned in the sand with footprints leading across the horizon!
I wonder how long the Syrian army would last in the face of Israeli firepower, if it lasted mere hours I would be amazed!
Assad ought to be telling his boys that the Bible clearly states that Damascus will lie in a heap...Isaiah 17:1
" The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. "
Yes, better make sure they're ready - for a good kicking, as always.
I surely wouldnt want to be a Syrian soldier or pilot just now...
Syria needs to attack Israel.
Just what do you think the results will be???
