A HUSBAND and wife arrested in the British terror raids allegedly planned to take their six-month-old baby on a mid-air suicide mission.Scotland Yard police are quizzing Abdula Ahmed Ali, 25, and his 23-year-old wife Cossor over suspicions they were to use their baby's bottle to hide a liquid bomb.
The theory is one of the reasons security chiefs are now insisting mothers taste babies' milk at check-in desks before allowing them to take bottles aboard flights....
It has also been revealed that security services are secretly monitoring "dozens" of fresh plots involving hundreds of suspects which could be unleashed at any time.
One government source said at least 30 priority cases were under urgent investigation.
"All those 30 are seen as serious, determined attacks that will happen unless we stop them," the source said....
A neighbour at the flats where the married couple lived said he would be stunned if claims were true.
"I simply cannot believe he could have been involved in a plot like this. He is religious and seemed to love his family," the neighbour said.

I'm beginning to realize that many of those who try and make excuses for the behaviour of Muslims are just people who cannot fathom that absolute evil exists. I can't even bear the thought of someone harming his own child, much less can I imagine intentionally sacrificing my own darlings for any cause. It literally turns my stomach when I read that the parents of a tiny baby would take her on a suicide mission, and would even be proud of doing such a thing.
Until we in the West really understand the pure evil which is what causes parents like these to behave the way they do, we don't have a hope of ridding our world of this kind of person. I can't even discuss the whole religion/politics of Islam right now- for me, after reading that article, it is the fight between good and evil, nothing less.

I am sure these parents do love their baby, and would have grieved like anyone else had it succumbed to a childhood illness.

I also agree that Britain needs to wake up to what is happening in society. I have worked amongst polite, easy going and popular muslim and asian men who would in secret talk about "death to the white man". I assumed they felt comfortable saying this to me since I'm Black British but it totally shocked me since they always seemed to get on with all races whilst at work. Whenever I read a story like this, especially when it concerns the police chasing after suspects who represent but the tip of the iceberg, I have to wonder why the people of the country involved don't just throw in the towel and throw out the Muslims. Someone asked a similar question in another post and I mentioned the "Mohammed Dura Kiddie Paradise", complete with ferris wheels and kite-flying. I'm afraid this little baby would be too young even for this. I guess his Paradise would just have warm milk, a warm blankie, and a mother who won't cut up his little head with a machete. When the MCB and even members of parliament refuse to accept that Islamic terrorism is wrong for any reason and in fact issue an open letter that sounds like blackmail to many, how can you hope that the Muslim community are going change their attitude?
This is not a recent problem and taking into account the sheer number of attacks by Muslims across the world it is actually looking more like the Muslim community is becoming more belligerent.
Also this is not Northern Ireland where after decades of violence the people grew tired of the senseless killing. This is England and the killing is just beginning here. There is no evidence that the Muslim community as a whole can see the wrong.
I do not want to live in a country where a wall divides communities and Islamic war propaganda is painted on the end of terraced houses for decades to come. Should I grow old waiting for them to grow tired of it all?

I agree, there is a large group of people in "liberal democratic" societies that either deny that evil exists, or have had their concept of evil so corrupted that they identify as evil those difficult acts that are required to stop what is truly evil from continuing.

Of course the husband and wife were religious. Aren't they following the example in the book - proving their faith by sacrificing the life of their precious child. (And yeah I know a lamb was substituted at the last minute.)
If they only wanted a better life in their countries or improved conditions for other members of their faith in other countries, they would not sacrifice their child. So the reason would seem to be the hope of a martyrs paradise for the child as well as for themselves. Taking the child with them on the mission is the only way of insuring that they would see the child again in paradise. If they left it behind it could be raised to live a long full life and not become a martyr and then it would possibly not make it to heaven. After all martyrdom is the ONLY guaranteed way to get there according to the koran. Truly, a show of faith and love, islam style.
We can not possibly understand.

You could just have separate flights for muslims (give the planes names like 'shoebomb express' and 'mad mohammed' and call the airline '72 Virgin') - employ Pakistani technicians to maintain the planes (most would then stand on the runway all day, leaking oil, unable to fly into any buildings).
They would employ cabin crew dressed in burkhas, serving sports drinks during the in-flight martyr videos, asking passengers to switch ON their disposable cell phones during take-off, landing and whenever entering the toilets.
The pre-flight safety demonstration would show how to strap on and detonate bomb belts during a perfectly peaceful flight between Brum and Islamabad, asking parents to assist their children before fitting their own. The pilot will be a crazed Imam who has completed 30 minutes of training on a Microsoft Flight Simulator video game.
Shias would board at the back, Sunnis at the front, with a UN peacekeeping force deployed in between, handing out grenades and providing weapons training facilities and drafting new resolutions against the Israelis' despicable habit of drinking coffee in public places.
The marriages mentioned in the newspaper are arranged. They seem rushed and without regard of Islamic customs. Also, the couples appear to be "damaged" and are using both Islam and marriage to save themselves. There is nothing healthy here that I can see. Maybe these "marriages" should be profiled.
Who wouldn't rather live in green, fruitful lands rather than the dry, dusty, hot desert where it looks like one just landed on the moon?

About ten years ago there was a small Brit film by the director of "My Beautiful Laundrette" called "My Son the Fanatic" about a fairly well assimilated Pakistani cab driver who was living in London. His son had suddenly become very religious and contemptuous of his father's assimilation, and he had no idea how to handle it. (I didn't get around to seeing the film, but read a number of reviews).
I was still pretty naive at the time. I thought it was just one of those quirky British indepenant films, that turned the usual scenario of a conservative immigrant family and their rebellious, assimilating children on its head. At the time I had no idea that this is actually a very common situation.
