Now it's a fait accompli. Will the West respond with a healthy sense of self-preservation? August 1939 Alert from AP:
KHONDAB, Iran - Iran's hard-line president on Saturday inaugurated a heavy-water production plant, a facility the West fears will be used to develop a nuclear bomb, as Tehran remained defiant ahead of a U.N. deadline that could lead to sanctions. The U.N. has called on Tehran to stop the separate process of uranium enrichment — which also can be used to create nuclear weapons — by Thursday or face economic and political sanctions.
War Is Deceit Alert:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that his nation's nuclear program poses no threat to other nations, even Israel, "which is a definite enemy."Ahmadinejad said in a speech that Iran would never abandon what he once again called its purely peaceful nuclear program.
"There is no discussion of nuclear weapons," he said. "We are not a threat to anybody even the Zionist regime, which is a definite enemy for the people of the region."
The West is still singing the "Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock"
If Iran's assets are not degraded right away, we will pay dearly in lives.
Worse, we will be fighting for our life.
Unfortunately, I do not believe President Bush will act. Not due to inability. Because of the administration's sometimes / often faltering war in Iraq, Mr. Bush has acquired this self-image of weakness; a feckless war-time president.
Then there was the most recent ignominious ceasefire Mr. Bush imposed on Israel by commissioning the Arab-friendly Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice shepherd a flawed ceasefire resolution though the United Nations Security Council. This was the same Secretary Rice that pressured Israel to open the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza unimpeded to terrorists and weapons.
Thus we are left with weakened and neutered Israel that is poised to be in the most immediate danger from the Iranian mullahs and apocalyptic president of Iran.
Sadly in Israel we have another Bush foreign policy blunder. In an effort to secure the meekest, most pliable Israeli government, Mr. Bush folks made no secret that he wanted Mr. Olmert and his capitulationist Kadima government ruling in Israel.
After all, Mr. Bush has a vision for a 23 jihadist state in the Middle East. Ehud Olmert was seen as the best puppet-ruler to bring the Bush-vision about --- thus helping secure the president's legacy ---- a Palestinian terrorist state in the mountains of Israel (Judea and Samaria) and in Gaza and east Jerusalem.
Now we are confronting Iran with a weak Executive in America and a incredibly weak puppet government in Israel thanks to Mr. Bush and his grandiose vision for Middle East "peace."
Iran-‘Purely Peaceful’; US/UN-‘Dual Use’;
Nuclear Power Generation 101:
Nuclear fuel is used to heat water in a fancy boiler, steam is made, which turns turbines, which are attached to electrical generators, and electricity is produced.
I wish Condelesa or Bush would ask to see the power plant that the fuel is being prepared for. This is embarrassing.
It is a dark hour for Freedom, no doubt.
What we risk is a complete change in the strategic equilibrium in the world.
If iran will be able (that is, will be allowed) to reach the status of "regional nuclear power" (and as such, able to command and influence the oil fields of the whole Middle East, the foreign policy of the European Union and the developments in the Indian sub-continent) America will look like something from the past, a ghost, compelled to stay within her borders and attacked from inside by subversive muslim immigration and marxist subversion... ultimately finished.
Such a landscape is unthinkable and unaccetable of course, but this means only more suffering for the West.
Mr. Bush must decide if he is a Founding Father or a footnote of a chapter of history titled "The Fall of Rome".
There will be no Rove to console you if you fail, Mr. Bush, and politics are not as important as you think.
Here and elsewhere I frequently see posts that attack the President as if the choice he had to make today were easy. I have spoken very harshly myself, more than once.
But it is not an easy choice. He must assume A LOT of responsibility...or die in the nightmare of his own omissions.
Not many of us happen to live such moments in life: maybe some, few, Firefighters, in very dramatic moments, maybe some, few, Soldiers.
It's a bitter hour for him and instead of insulting him we should pray for him to have the force he needs.
I have a DREAM : Israel strike Iran .
IMHO That will save western world and especially Europe in at least two points .
1 : it will prevent a muslim bastard to threat our civilisation with nuclear weapons and blackmail our dhimmi politicians
2: it will trigger a war that will expend to Eurabia through the muslims immigrants .Like it or not but this kind of civil war in Europe will be saving for preserve our future .Despite November 05 muslims riots there are still 75 % counterparts asleept enjoying theirs leisure and holidays while muslims are breeding like rats .Most people ignore Islam thinking it is a religion like any other one . An ultra shock like civil war will be necessary to wake Europeans up before it is too late .The sooner , the better .
So , Israel , please STRIKE !!
It's a bitter hour for him and instead of insulting him we should pray for him to have the force he needs.>>>>>
POITIERS-LEPANTO, this is the very worst Republican president I can remember in my thirty five years of voting. I believe historians will record this. I cannot remember ever voting for a Democrat. I want a true conservative leader. The GOP is supposed to be the party of Lincoln, though Lincoln would not recognize us. I have virtually lost all respect and confidence in this president. I cannot pray for him anymore. You pray for him.
MONK
Sure, I will pray "double" ! :-)))
No problem, I wrote my share of bad posts about Mr. Bush' timidity.
But we had not been attacked on the CONTINENTAL U.S.A. since 1812, if I am correct.
So, I'm inclined to cut him another eight months of slack.
I did write "He must assume A LOT of responsibility...or die in the nightmare of his own omissions." anyway.
I would like to be in his pants today, but how many WOULDN'T, if aware of what's at stake ?
Israel will not permit the completion of an Iranian nuclear capability.
The Israelis are clearer-sighted than we in this matter. They know their national existence hinges on preventing Iran from achieving nuclear capability. If necessary, they'll use their own nukes to obliterate as much of Iran as necessary. Nor will the U.S. do anything to stop them.
The sole question of importance -- and it is a matter of importance -- is whether Israel will be compelled to go it alone. I would greatly prefer that the U.S. be the one to strike, as the casualty counts would be lower and the probability of a regional Islamic assault on Israel would be lessened.
Of this we can be sure: Iran cannot be deterred. They must be stopped before they can acquire a nuke, for as soon as they have one, they'll use it.
Sorry, test again, technical problems.
Ahmad states, "We are not a threat to anybody even the Zionist regime."
Huh? Am I hearing him right? This is NOT what he has stated in the past; that "Israel should be wiped off of the map." He is such a liar and a con-man-gone-mad; and it wouldn't surprise me if there's a passage in the Koran stating that 'allah approves of lying when dealing with the infidel'. What an evil religion.

...er ... there is - well, in the ahadith, anyway. Someone else will have to give you the exact reference because I'm not yet organised or knowledgable enough yet with computers to be able to go straight to most things. But seriously, there is.

August 1939 alert? It's early hours of September 1st 1939 alert.
Sir Henry -
Thought so! You have a way better grasp on the Koran than I do, because I wasn't even sure that something so appauling might BE in the Koran. And the Koran isn't a "religious" text; it should be filed under "criminals handbook."
"Criminals handbook".
Yes Champ, something like that. But worse. And I don't know but a fraction of what Mr. Spencer knows.
I couldn't argue the detail of it like he can. I wish I could, but I can't. I'm learning though, as are we all here.
JW saved what little was left of my sanity - up until I got this computer a little under five months ago I think I was going insane with the loneliness of thinking, essentially, that nobody else thought the same as me.
I still think it will eventually come down to civil war, especially here on our side of the pond. I don't want it because too many of our people will die and be otherwise damaged, but it's coming. I seriously don't care how many of their people get it in the neck.
I think that we are actually already at war. It's not so much me saying it as Islam saying it. I'm only paying Islam the respect of taking it at its word.
Take care, it's getting rougher out there.
Thanks, you too; and I share what JW does for your sanity because I have no where else to go with some of my thoughts/feelins on this war on terror. JW is not only a good source of information, but it's a good way to know that you're not alone in this battle.

Sir Henry -
Thanks for the links. Interesting how portions of both links address the issue of lying, and they give reasons why a Muslim "should" lie, or "needs" to lie to honor his/her faith (yeah -- faith in a false god).
I can just hear Jesus giving situations where lying might be necessary -- makes me laugh just thinking about it!
I'll give these links a more careful study -- thanks again.
In my humble opinion the continuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have greatly weakened America. We heard all the spiel about 'wicked regimes' in both countries-yes but what's so different about them regarding any Islamic state?
Saudi Arabia must be one of the most corrupt, totalitarian places on earth so why no outcry about all the stonings, amputations, beheadings, no democratic rights etc by that great champion of 'Democracy'
the U.S?? Bush is so close to Saudi princes and oil corruption that no investigation of the part
Saudi Arabia played in 9/11 is allowed.Or will be allowed until the Texas Cowboy is safely out of the White House and back on his ranch...
Saddam Hussein was a monster but he was a secular monster propped up in power for decades by America. See Saudi Arabia paid him 40 billion to fight Shiite Iran-when Saddam invaded Kuwait the 'brave' Princes began to panic. So how does a monster the U.S was happy with for many years suddenly become a 'worse monster' day after tomorrow?? Answer is-it suits America's foreign policy. Now Iraq is teetering, some say already is in throes of Civil War, even most patriotic American can see what a mistake this was.Not unnaturally Iran is thumbing its nose in defiance of U.S and rest of the World.Because
of Bush & Blair's rash war trumpets Israel is also weakened in Middle East as latest skirmish with Iran backed Hezbollah shows...
No prob. The intel boys already have it targeted.
Nuke 'em and be done with it...
