Egypt Copts Proud of Hizballah

I have been told by many Middle Eastern Christians, including Copts, that they have long learned to say one thing about Islam and Muslims in public, and another in private. That is not to say that the Copts quoted in this article don't believe what they're saying: I've met many genuine dhimmis among Middle Eastern Christians as well. There are others, of course, who are genuine anti-dhimmis; but most have been co-opted by the Arab nationalism that spuriously offered them equality with Muslims on the basis of ethnic solidarity. The Arab nationalist enterprise has, of course, increasingly given way to the jihad, leaving the dhimmi Christians in a worse position than they would have been in if they had had the courage to stand up for their own identity in the first place.

As for these Copts, their solidarity with Hizballah will get them nowhere. It won't make Egyptian Muslims stop their campaign of discrimination and harassment. Nothing will stop that except their conversion to Islam.

"Egypt Copts Proud of Hizbullah," from IslamOnline, with thanks to PRCS:

CAIRO — Egypt's Copts have hailed the Lebanese resistance movement Hizbullah and its chief Hassan Nasrallah as a source of pride to Muslims and the Arab world, and launched a fund-raising campaign to help the Lebanese people in their current trial.

"All Arabs must be proud of Hizbullah's gallantry," Bishop Rafiq Gris, the spokesman for the Egyptian Catholic Church, told IslamOnline.net Monday, July 31.

"No matter what the results will be, Hizbullah has proved that the 'invincible' Israeli army is too weak and shown that a Frankenstein created by the Arab rulers was brought to his knees by a few number of fighters," added Yuhana Qaltah, a writer and columnist.

Hizbullah has inflicted heavy losses on the powerful Israeli army and proved in no way an easy meat.

Its fighters forced Israeli forces to withdraw from the two strategic towns of Bint Jbeil and Maroon Al-Ras they had seized earlier.

Hizbullah has downed at least two Apache helicopters and damaged a giant warship at the very beginning of the conflict.

Famed filmmaker Youssef Chahine said Nasrallah is a "source of pride to Islam."

"Hizbullah is a symbol of Arab dignity," he told Reuters on Sunday, July 30.

The Cannes-awarded director said he hoped to shake hands with Nasrallah in a visit to Beirut earlier this year.

"Nasrallah welcomed my visit…I'm really proud of him," Chahine added.

Giant warship? It was a gunboat. Talk about typical arab hyperbole.

Since when did Jesus declare Muhammad was the last prophet and Islam was the true way to paradise , next they'll parade around a bunch of hindu's that are Rabbi's and hold signs " Jews for Hezbollah".

I saw we start some Quran burning protests except we pull a scam , use Quran covers to replace covers on Bibles and put bacon strips between several pages.

When Mr.Hooper pops a blood vessel and forces the Cops to arrest people and collect the Qurans as evidence of a hate-crime, CAIR will look pretty stupid when the media reveals that the Police discovered the books were Bibles.

Hooper will have no choice but to either be silent and prove Islam doesn't respect pluralism, or denounce this mocking of the prophet Jesus .
I heard from a Muslims that the Muhammad cartoon was offensive because Islam forbids idolatry , this was so funny because Mecca and Mosques are the epitome of baal worshipping, and all the rituals in the Mosques and Harim rules in the Quran are impossible to follow because Shariah law is subjective.

We cannot really trust any thing on Islam Online. For all we know this entire story could be fiction.

Did not Jesus warn against false prophets?

"Arabs", that word again. Whether Michelle Aflak in the past or Azmi Bishara now, those Christians rally behind the nationalistic label "Arabs", thinking it'll spare them from the plight of dhimmitude if the Muslims should realize their goal. We're hampered in fighting this war because of clinging to 19th and early 20th century thought.

For themselves, those Christians are deluded fools. For the Muslims--useful idiots.

"Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit. A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire. I repeat, you will be able to tell them by their fruits. (Mat.7:15-20).

It is probably reasonable for people to praise Hezbollah..........such acclaim shows us that even Muslims who are not terrorists themselves see in Hezbollah the true face of Islam.................could it be made any clearer to Westerners that this is truly Koranic Imperialism ?

There are others, of course, who are genuine anti-dhimmis; but most have been co-opted by the Arab nationalism...
So that's why they're called "Copts"!

Any news about that Armanious case? It's been quite a while -- about 18 months -- since those two suspects were picked up.

ala-sux:

Unfortunately, we do have a (rather small) Jewish sect for Hezbollah. They are called the Natura Kuerti and, because they believe that only G-d can create a Jewish state, that Israel should be destroyed. (Nevermind the fact that they receive state funding to exist.)

As for the dhimmified Middle Eastern Christians who are so misguided as to hail Muslims as their saviours and brand Jews as their eternal enemies, this should not be surprising. After all, the most fervant supporters of the Inquisition were Jews who converted. No doubt, at least some of the early Christians of the Levant, were Jews who converted. I have a Quaker friend who was married to a Maronite from Lebanon who, on the one hand. On the one hand, the Maronite acknowledged his ancient Jewish roots, but also was filled with hatred and loathing over the role Jews are alleged to have played in Jesus's crucifiction (like the Romans were so inclined to do the bidding of populations they had conquered) and, for the displacement of "Arabs" by Jews.

Israeli Jews think they have a screwed up nationaly psyche, but they have nothing on some of their Christian neighbours like Noam Attik or Michael Sabba.

have_mercy,

What you have wrote took me by suprise. As a Latin rite Catholic, and having as of late been doing research on the Eastern rites Catholics, it shocks me that the Catholic Copts would even be supportive of the Muslims. It is true that the Copts are the least Arabized, because they are for all points and purposes are the true and original Egyptians, going all the way back to the days of the pharoahs. Also it is a suprise that the Vatican has not removed the Catholic Coptic leadership and replace it with leadership that are true shepards like the Good Shepards to their flocks and to pratice Christian fraternity to their fellow Coptic non-Catholic Christians. Amazing.

have_mercy,

Thanks for the comment that is right above my comment. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the ME Christians because of their heroic lives which are true witness to the good news of the Gospel of Christ. They are also a reminder to faithful Western Christians that in this difficult and dangerous age, it is very important to be faithful to the Gospel.

1 John 4
1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Polish Infideless, regarding Neturei Karta -- there is a video clip of one of them speaking on Sunday too:

You were at the pro-Israel rally? In the pictures?? :D

Why not send me an email ... I'd like to hear from you!

Thanks for the description of what the Copts go through. As for the Catholic Copts that you describe, they are better off converting to Islam, rather than wait for the Islamic-Issa to come and do it to them. Of course, then, their propaganda value becomes zip.

Was Bhutros-Bhutros-Bhutros-Bhutros-Bhutros-Ghali a Catholic Copt or an Orthodox Copt?

I wish that someday, just like Spain in the 16th century and India in the 18th century, Egypt will be de-Islamized. In fact, I wish the same for Persia, Lebanon, Sudan and as much of dar-ul-Islam as possible. May the ummah shrink to zero - the number they gratuitously claim they invented.

Maybe anti-Semitism is a stronger force than Muslim hegemony in the Xtian Arab mind?

If the story isn't a Muslim lie (it is against the Koran to lie? read taqiyya) maybe people like Egyptian Coptics may fear for the safety of themselves and their families if they are not seen to support their tormentors.

These people are fighting for their survival. What real choice do they have? They know that they cannot expect help from their government.

Egyptians,
an ancient people
with knowledge still unknown,
creators of lasting visions
in spirit and in stone.

Egyptians,
bringer of mysteries
to the Church of Christ,
bringer of Isis,
with balm for her children,
bringing her men
back together again.

Egyptians
courageous Copts,
heirs of the One God,
whose Church manifests
the Body of Christ,
the Fire of the Living Word.

have_mercy,

What suprises me is that Pope Benedict XVI, who working to help increase unity among Christians, with a special interest with working with the Orthodox Christians has not have replaced the leader of the Copt Rite Catholics in Egypt. Having a leader of that branch of the Catholic Church who would not help his Christian brothers and sisters does not help the cause of needed Christian unity.
