How many caliphates can there be?

While the Ottoman Empire at its death bed had few friends, it still had offered its inhabitants many benefits through most of its existence. For Muslims it was considered as a defence against the non-Muslim world. For non-Muslims it offered a better life and more security than Christian states up until the 18th century. For most of its inhabitants it had offered career possibilities. And it offered peace and relative harmony to all its inhabitants despite cultural and ethnic differences.

It would appear the Muslims are celebrating the the end of peace and relative harmony to its residents. It also appears Muslims are celebrating Terrorism and violence. Islam is anti-life and is a death cult.

Muslims continue to be devoid of any resemblance of co-existance with humanity.Muslims continue to strip mankind of any sense of order or peace. Muslims continue to destroy any land they occupy. History shows the Muslims wallow in poverty because of their strict adherence to the evil text, the Qur'an.

Each new leader is more violent and volitile than the previous leader.

Hizb al-Tahrir is supposed to be more extreme than Hammas, well l dont see a difference. what does this seem to suggest, that perhaps the Western world should accept Hammas, since they would now be considered more moderate? well tell that to the murdered Israeli civilians who have been murdered by Hammas, l dont think they see the difference either. it seems these muslims just have way too much time on their hands.

Then, in about 750AD, at a very dangerous moment for the survival of Christianity, the Abbasids revolted against the Ummayads, drove the few survivors in Spain, and the Muslim Empire suddenly had two Caliphs - one in Cordoba, and one in Baghdad. If the Arabs had been united at the time, the West might have been destroyed. Charles Martel had just about managed to clear Gaul of raiders, but he died; and the Roman Emperors in Constantinople, who were up to their arses in Arab raiders, had had the brilliant idea to rip to pieces their own remaining support by the fanatical and idiotic support of the heresy of Iconoclasm. As it was, the pressure on Gaul and Bizantium slackened for long enough for Franks and Byzantines to strengthen their position and survive. Then there was the rise of the Ottoman Empire: they only became Caliphs because they disposed of the previous line of Caliphs in the typical Ottoman way.

Given these historical precedents, I think that the nomination of a Caliph would be the best possible thing that could happen. All the other factions would gang up against him, and you would have endless wars between Muslims.

A short historic transition of the caliphs:

caliphate (kăl'ifāt", -fit) [key], the rulership of Islam; caliph. (kăl'if") [key], the spiritual head and temporal ruler of the Islamic state. In principle, Islam is theocratic: when Muhammad died, a caliph [Arab.,=successor] was chosen to rule in his place. The caliph had temporal and spiritual authority but was not permitted prophetic power; this was reserved for Muhammad. The caliph could not, therefore, exercise authority in matters of religious doctrine. The first caliph was Abu Bakr. He was succeeded by Umar, Uthman, and Ali. A year later Husayn ibn Ali, king of Arabia, proclaimed himself caliph, but he was forced to abdicate by Ibn Saud. I AGREE the UN should be moved. Gaza would be ok, Saudia Arabia would be ok. The Iranian capitol would be best. Let the UN really see Muslim hospitality. New York is too good for the UN.

That is an incredible idea: Moving the UN to Tehran! It would do a lot, like help the Iranian economy; encourage third world countries; show that the UN is really about everyone, not narrow US or Jewish interests.

My idea is this: Give the UN, say, 3 months to move out. Then precisely on the day of the 3rd month, lock the doors and fumigate the place.

Sending the U.N. to a new home somewhere in the ever so hospitable Middle East is an excellent idea- and the European diplomats could easily do their appeasing in person, what an added bonus for them!

On some of the islamic disussion boards, I have seem some muslims say that they cannot sanction joining the Jihadis, because there is no Khaliph at this moment, but once there is a Kaliph, then the rules change, and formal war can now be sanctioned, meaning the blood of the infidels is now legal to spill, and the wealth is legal to take as booty.

IN Tehran, the UN delegates could view the latest in Muslim womens fashions,eat unusual Islamic food, and enjoy the solitude as no music or tv is allowed. IT would give them more quality time to study the issues. Travel is out of the question as is any kind of socializing. Books are banned and travel is forbidden. THe UN could use this enlightment.

It would not surprise me in the least bit if muslims chose someone of high moral character, like say, bin Laden as their Caliph.

So it would be 1 billion muslims vs. 5 billion of everyone else. Gee, who's gonna win that one? No wait, I already know the answer! Allah will help them win and if they don't win it's all Amrikis fault.
