Khamenei: Muslims have "duty" to support Hizballah

Khamenei can invoke the Islamic principle that when a Muslim land is attacked, it becomes the duty of every individual Muslim to do all he can to defend it. "Middle East: Muslims Have 'Duty' to Support Hezbollah, Khamenei Says," from AKI, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

Tehran, 8 August (AKI) - Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Muslims on Tuesday it is their duty to support Lebanon-based Shiite militia Hezbollah in their struggle against Israel, Iranian state television reports. "Supporting and defending Hezbollah is a duty of the whole of Muslim society," said Khamenei, speaking on the anniversary of the birth of Ali, considered by Shiite Muslims to be the first imam appointed by the Prophet Mohammed and the first rightful caliph.

"What is happening in Lebanon can occur one day in any Muslim nation," Iran's supreme leader also said.

I see death on the horizon, and it appears to be mostly Muslim.

Would Sunnis take orders from this rafidite dog?

Mr.Spencer you should take a look at this from a "secular" muslim nation

Turkey cancels USD 500 million deal with aircraft industry

Turkey scraps deal with Israel Aircraft Industries to upgrade aircraft in protest at Lebanon offensive
Ariyeh Egozy

The war deals a severe blow to Israel Aircraft Industries: The Turkish government has canceled a deal to upgrade fighter jets worth USD 500 million because of the war in Lebanon.

The Israel Aircraft Industries fears that more deals could be canceled.

In 1997 Turkey signed an agreement with Israel for the upgrading of 54 Phantom aircraft at the cost of USD 1 billion.

The deal was concluded in 2003 and Turkey showed interest in upgrading another 50 Phantom jets for USD 500 million.

Turkey is weighing the purchase of new F-16 jets from the United States instead of upgrading its old fleet.

"They are old costumers, and the cancellation of the deal is a very bad sign," a senior military official said Monday.

The Israel Aircraft Industries refused to comment on the decision.

Turkey's interest in Israeli military products has long been considered as a "goldmine" in Israel.

"Turkey was conceived as a replacement for South Africa and Iran, who were big customers of Israeli weapons," he said.

Since the war in Lebanon opposition parties in Turkey have increased pressure on the government to cut military ties with Israel.

"Supporting and defending Hezbollah is a duty of the whole of Muslim society," said Khamenei.

Okay, this is really getting out of hand. If this Khameini does incite more muslim radicals to the war front, then turning the Arabian desert into a sea of glass is increasingly justified, if not entirely necessary.

Will we take action before it's too late? I'm waiting for western leadership to show up and maybe take a leadership position. I'm still waiting.

This shoulc not surprise anybody. Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood, Jordan, Pakistan, Hamas, Turkey, Morocco, Jamat E-Islamia, Harkut Ul-Mujahadeen, Lashker E-Toiba, PLO, Al-Aqsa MArtyr's Brigade, Islamic Jihad , Hizballah and even Iraq and Afghanistan..... While countries, nations and national sovereiginty mean different things to different people, you see, membership to Umma Al-Islamia (Shias and Sunnis are the fruits of the same tree and for Infidels, 'muslim brothers') tops all.

Against that backdrop, does this surprise anyone?

for all the sabre rattling from these coward immans, there has yet for a arab and or muslim nation to rise up against Israel. you see cowards speak big, but prefer to have terrorists attack unarmed civilians. yeah so brave these muslims are... bunch of weak men, so weak they need to have their women covered up to help control themsevles from raping them. this sick cult has created weak cowards, who walk around with scarve over their faces.. oh so brave..yeah.. Israel has to keep looking behind women and children to find a muslim terrorist.

Does any one truly know how the Lebanese people really feel? Or is it just the muslims whose voices can be heard?

You know, it's funny.
For years I've been trying to get people to pay attention to the deaths and destruction and injustices being perpetrated on my beloved Lebanon.

And nobody cared.

When Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Liberation Organization tried to take over the country and make it his terrorist playground, nobody cared.

When people were dying by the thousands in the civil war, nobody cared.

When Syria had its boot on the neck of its tiny neighbor for 25 years, nobody cared.

When Iran dispatched Hezbollah terrorists into the country to undermine home rule by Lebanese, nobody cared.

When Muslims chased millions of Christians from the country, tipping the balance of power, nobody cared.

But now, all eyes are on Lebanon.

Do you know why?

Because Israel has tried to clean up this hornet's nest. Yet, all we hear about is how many Lebanese are dying.

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Guess what the total death toll is among Lebanese during the extent of this war – including Hezbollah terrorists, many of whom are not really Lebanese?

You better sit down. The total death toll is just over 500.

Now, far be it for me to minimize death tolls. Just one innocent death is a tragedy. But this is the total – all terrorists, civilians, Lebanese army, everything.

The whole world is going nuts over this "slaughter."

What is needed is some perspective here. May I offer it?

Last month alone, U.S. troops in Afghanistan announced killing 600 "suspected" Taliban. That's one month alone. We've been occupying this foreign country since 2002. It began in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. U.S. forces went halfway around the world to attack a sovereign nation, to overthrow the government and kill as many people as it deemed necessary over the last five years to prevent more terrorist attacks in the future. Few would suggest that Afghanistan represents any imminent threat to the U.S. today. By the way, according to U.S. military spokesmen, a total of 1,700 Afghanis have been killed since the start of the year. That includes some civilians, some aid workers and more than 70 foreign troops.

But, last time I checked, there weren't demonstrations in the streets of the U.S. or elsewhere around the world over this war.

Instead, everybody is going ape over Lebanon.

By the way, the government of Afghanistan, installed by the U.S., is happy about the war. President Hamid Karzai wants to see the terrorists rooted out of his country. He recognizes it represents the best chance for his nation to be free.

Meanwhile, back in Lebanon, a government that has tolerated terrorist bases on its soil for years and years is suddenly indignant about Israel's retaliation against incessant attacks from those strongholds.

Does any of this make sense?

Do you think those screaming about the bloodshed in Lebanon really give a hoot about Lebanon? If so, where have they been for the last 30 years?

Why is Lebanon the top story in every newscast? Why is Lebanon on the front page of every newspaper? Don't you get the impression that the violence there is probably worse than anywhere else on the planet from this focus? Clearly it is not.

And the only difference is who's doing the butt kicking in Lebanon.

As for me, an American of Lebanese and Syrian heritage, I don't want to see a "cease-fire." I want to see Lebanon freed of the terrorist blight, once and for all. I want to see Lebanon freed from domination by Iran and Syria. I want to see Lebanon be Lebanon. I don't want to see Lebanon suffer for another 30 years. It's time to clean up the mess and allow this poor, little country to heal.

And that means getting rid of the disease of Hezbollah – now.

Gramfan says

"President Hamid Karzai wants to see the terrorists rooted out of his country"

Fat chance of this happening when the biggest exporter of terrorism (Pakistan) is your neighbour

Hear! Hear! Gramfam. So sad but so true. I can only hope that Israel now finishes what Hizb'Allah started a decade ago. As for 'world opinion'? With the exception of the (increasingly vocal and growing) minority who remember what a terrorist organisation actually is (and does, ala Zarqawi et al) most of the world appears to stand against Israel, anyway. So, what has she got to lose, except maybe a million Arabs within her own, sovereign borders, who not only support Hizb'Allah, but are now turning increasingly to similar tactics.

Strike One: Hizb'Allah and Hamas
Strike Two: Iran and Syria
Strike Three: ? No... a home run for real peace.
