Official: Iran ready to expand nuclear activities

August 1939 Alert from AP, with thanks to Arjun:

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's top nuclear negotiator said Sunday that Iran will expand -- not suspend -- uranium enrichment activities, in defiance of a U.N. Security Council resolution.

The resolution gave the Islamic Republic until August 31 to halt nuclear activities or face the threat of political and economic sanctions.

Ali Larijani called the U.N. Security Council resolution issued last week "illegal" and said Iran won't respect the deadline. "We reject this resolution," he told reporters.

"We will expand nuclear activities where required. It includes all nuclear technology including the string of centrifuges," Larijani said, referring to the centrifuges Iran uses to enrich uranium....

"We won't accept suspension," he said.

IRAN - The mouse that roarded!

THE MOUSE THAT ROARED
Director: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Cast: Madman ArmageddonJihad, Madmouth I'm-a-damn-nutjob, and the cowardly Hezbollah crew

(Columbia, 1959) Rated: Unrated
Watch it on DVD soon to be released.

Not to be an alarmist or anything, but Iran was the worst-case scenario for nuclear proliferation back when we used to take this stuff seriously. This was long before Guardian columnists and others on the Left got this notion of a "right" to possess and use nuclear weapons. Yeah, rights matter when everyone is ducking and covering under canned food. Nothing like a good intellectual exercise to kill time in the rubble.

Anyway, Iran is millenarian, supports terrorists, and has the oft-stated goal of killing all the Jews. Which, per Tony Blair, is "unhelpful... very unhelpful." Yeah, it's at least that, Tony.

l guess the UN will send Iran a very strongly worded letter telling them how unfortunate of them to go against their wishes. the iranian government are rolling on the ground laughing at the UN clowns. Good thing they still fear the US, particular a Republican president!

Send Kofi down to Tehran to meet President Mahmoud, but with some help. Include in the diplomatic mission Maddy Albright, Jimmy Carter, and John Kerry.

Take lotsa photos and video of these four meeting and dining with President Mahmoud. If images of this don't scare the world wide awake, and make even the Commie Chinese go bugeyed, then nothing will.

16 days left and world history will take a sharp turn.

I hope it's a turn to the right.

Ahmadinejad Dirty?
IRAN: TEXT MESSAGE TELLS PRESIDENT HE SHOULD WASH MORE

Tehran, 14 April (AKI) - Iran's hardline president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has apparently been incensed by an anonymous text message suggesting he does not wash enough. Ahmadinejad has taken legal action over the offending text, has fired the president of a phone company and has had four people arrested and accused of colluding with the Israeli foreign intelligence service, Mossad, the anti-government website Rooz Online reports.

Poking fun at the president, the regime's senior figures and its policies, has reportedly become a national pastime in Iran. The Iranian authorities are paying particular attention to jokes comparing Iran's nuclear programme with sex.

President Ahmadinejad and I. Sure, he's a good three-foot-six shorter than me, but what the man lacks in stature, he makes up for in rabid anti-Semitism.

And, in my humble opinion, his height - or lack thereof - is really a positive, because nothing fuels a tyrant's megalomaniacal, genocidal rage like a good, old-fashioned Napoleon complex.

And who are we to judge if he gets a little hot-headed from time to time? I know, I know; being a ruthless dictator sounds like a cushy job, but the man lives in a virtual pressure cooker.

Think about it: You're responsible for repressing an entire nation and further destabilizing a volatile region of the world - how do you blow off a little steam? You threaten to wipe Israel off the map. Sticks and stones, people! I say, try walking a mile in the man's tiny shoes before you criticize him.

Our worse nightmare seems to be coming true. Terrorist have (or will soon have) nuculear weapons! And the United (Arab) Nations doesn't care, it would rather obstruct, rather than help the sane nations of the world! ("Iran refuses to answer until Aug 22nd, so we'll accomodate them by moving the ultimatum date to Aug 31st") I fear that the US won't be able to mount a surprise, pre-emptive attack because it has to get the OK from the legislative branch. And we know they leak national secrets like a sieve! And the N.Y. Times (Now Yielding Terrorist Info, Meaning: Sedition) will surely catch wind of this and be telephoning Terror-an a day ahead of time to get comments on the surprise attack! Folks we're up a creek, without a paddle, unless we DO something! We've already "talked this situation to death", unless we stop them, the WORLD will find itself under nuculear attack, one nation at a time!

Its time to for Condi Rice and the U.N. to wag a finger and yell better knock it off!....Your gona get a Time Out !...I mean it....yup...that should do it.

It really makes you wonder if Kofi A. Annan is a Muslim and follows ISLAM. Then everything seems to fit into place..UN = a UnNecessary

Good article from Mr Minority
http://mrminority.blogspot.com/2006/07/israel-knows-that-un-is-worthless.html

Israel Knows That the UN is Worthless
Give Israel credit for smacking the UN with a good size Cluebat. The UN want's Israel to allow the worthless UN Peacekeeper forces into southern Lebanon, but Israel being smarter than these terrorist loving diplomats, said no.

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations ruled out Thursday major UN involvement in any potential international force in Lebanon, saying more professional and better-trained troops were needed for such a volatile situation.

Hell the current "Peace Keeping" forces are in bed with the Hezbollah, why should Israel allow more to get in the way? I don't think Israel is going to bend over for anyone in this current war, especially the UN, which historically has taken the sides of Arab nations against Israel.

Not only will Israel not allow UN Peacekeepers, they said they won't let the UN investigate the UN Peacekeeping post bombing.

Dan Gillerman also said Israel would not allow the United Nations to join in an investigation of an Israeli air strike that demolished a post belonging to the current UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. Four UN observers were killed in the Tuesday strike.

"Israel has never agreed to a joint investigation, and I don't think that if anything happened in this country, or in Britain or in Italy or in France, the government of that country would agree to a joint investigation," Gillerman said.

I like that Gillman, he know that the UN is pro-Arab, so why should Israel let these biased wankers help them investigate?

Israel has sidelined all world opinion, the UN, the EU and every other idiot that is trying to save the Hezbollah. Because they know that they have to finish these bastards off once and for all, and they are not going to let anyone get in their way.

It appears that Israel is tired of pro-terrorist interference and is not going to let it happen again.

Go Israel, smack them some more!!

Israel has to have a back up plan, I'd expect at least a "take as many with us as we can" response. One nuke will end Israel as a nation, 20-40 Israeli nukes scattered around islamic capitals will end the problem of islam at least for a while. It might show the muslims what a real suicide bomber can do. Although, I have no real knowledge of Israeli tactics, it is what I would do. Launch as many planes as I have remaining and take out as many muslim cities as I could reach. Israel may do us all a bid favor. Planes can go a long way when they know they can't return. Iran should be scared, along with, SA, Oman, Kuwait, Yeman, you get the idea.

GO ISRAEL!!!! VIVA ISRAEL!! LONG LIVE ISRAEL Our prayers are with you!!!

Ronin,

Israel owes the region not one, nada, zero favors. They'd better get that through their heads. The Saudi princes, princesses, princelets, and prinverts have a lot to lose. How will our Ivy League schools get along without the cash stream from the Saudis?

I'll really miss the Dome, two mosques, and black rock. Oh well, better luck with the next religion.

August 22nd is almost here - YIPPIE - Time to party hardy and say GOODBYE IRAN!

I can't say its been a pleasure reading about you!

Iran fires nuclear missile.
In a related story the parking lot for the IKEA/WalMart Supercenter in Teheran is now complete, /insallah

I'll really miss the Dome, two mosques, and black rock. Oh well, better luck with the next religion.

I realize the sarcasim, you will miss them as much as I will. I can't wait until Aug 23rd when iran will explain why the 12th imam didn't show and what happened to its oil platforms, harbors, nuke plants and cities.

We need a back up plan of our own. We need to encourge the muslims in the west to return home and rebuild what is left. I'm not a rich man but I will buy a few plane tickets, it is the least I can do.

I too am curious to see how the sun is going to rise on Aug. 23rd. But then again, maybe Ahmanutjob means 2007, who knows. The here and the now concerns me more.

Don't let propaganda from either side influence you. Israel is currently losing this war. If we had truly destroyed most of the Hizb'allah launchers, then the rockets would not be flying anymore. Today, Sunday, Aug 6th, already over 160 rockets have flown against Israel. The daily average of rockets is going up, not down. If we have truly cut off the supply routes, then this means that Hizb'allah started with many more launchers than the press wants us to know. I am certain the boy of the IDF are doing one helluva job, but excuse me, we are being far too polite in this war against an enemy who does not deserve it. In WWII we simply would have burned the entire region down to the ground in order to ensure that no more rockets fly. We must take the ground out from under the enemy, otherwise he will just come back and come back and come back.

I am starting to get worried that the Zelzal 2 rockets with a range of up to 200 KM will start flying, which could mean the obliteration of Tel Aviv. Which means Iran's direct involvement in the war (instead of it's cowardly involvement now).

Isn't it time for us to help our ally Israel, before it is too late? Two nights of about 4,000 sorties would do the job. And screw what the worlds thinks, they will hate us anyway... and should one of those sorties go way off course and accidentally (mind you) hit the UN Headquarters in NY, I think we could chalk it up as collateral damage...

Ronin,

I can wait for any of this. Really, no hurry. But world events are far out-pacing anything I can do about it. The world seems intent on waiting, stunned in disbelief that such a thing could happen early in the 21st Century. All the "experts" ignored the warning signs which marked the Roaring Nineties. The world hung its collective hat on capitalist economic determinism.

Ideology has always been a prime mover of peoples. Hard to believe people tricked themselves otherwise. The anti-Semitism was already steaming a decade ago.

Oh well, hopefully our leaders will show about 200% more smarts than they've shown so far. A man can dream.

reasons why the great saviour of the muslim world the "12th imam" did not show up August 22,2006
1) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had a bad hair day, needs a lot more hair removal, needs more laser treatments, its offending the 12iman.
2) why you have the date wrong, it should be Aug 22, 2007. you know when it was year 2,000, many purists said the milienium was a year later, well the 12th iman agrees.
3) sorry twilight zone has been cancelled.

I don't mind the world ending, now is as good of a time as any. I want to go before I pay off all my bills. I do however plan to resist till the end does come. I don't plan on iran having the option to pick my demise and I give Israel the same credit. I could care less about what the world thinks, Israel needs to fight until it can no longer hold a weapon. We and all free people should help her with any means we can find. Wishing Israel away will not work for the umma, they are powerless against Israel and they know it.

I see this as a simple good vs evil fight, islam is evil, I can find no other word for it. Aug the 22nd will not bring the end of the world but I hope it will wake a few folks up. The 12th imam is a pipe dream just like the caliph. muslims are only good at killing other muslims, any excuse will work. They will never form under one banner, shia, sunni or any of the others, they will fight and kill thier own. I know that nut in ran wants the 12th imam but I want to win the lotto, both of us are screwed.

I'm not worried about "the world." The world will be just fine. People, they could be in some trouble. The only think keeping nuclear weapons from being used on a large scale is mental acuity. The supply is dwindling as the weapons are spread to more hands. The Iranians, short of sending out engraved invitations, could not be clearer about using WMD's on Israel. What happens next is anybody's guess. But I have a sneaking suspicion it will be far less glamorous and Earth-shaking than people think. Ugly it will have covered.

I seriously think Olmert is too weak to pull a "Sampson Option"....his whole agenda has been to give away more land. He was just talking about doing just that a week ago in the midst of this very battle.

The world will not be fine. If Iran nukes Israel the economic fallout from that alone will kill the stock market as the stock market is super sensitive to small things like cities being eradicated. That in turn will devastate the economy. It will be like 9/11 but magnified 1000 times. It will be a calamity the western world has never seen.

The advance of nuclear weapons technology in Iran, for the purpose of destroying Israel, can be attributed to the failure of Western leaders to address islam as the root cause. Sadly, both Israel and the West will soon suffer the consequences of this failure. Armed with nuclear weapons, the mohammedans will most certainly attempt to destroy the Jewish state. Yet, we are fed the official line, "islam is a peaceful religion, hijacked by terrorists." All one has to do is study islam in an historical context to realize the eventual crippling effect this cult has on human civilization. Our administration's policy of attempting to impose democratic principles on countries where islam is present will always fail until this fact is realized. The cult of islam should be identified for what it is - 'antidemocracy'. †

It will be a calamity the western world has never seen.

I tend to disagree. As nations scramble to arm themselves, war will be a growth industry. Even if Israel was taken out and could not retaliate (not gonna happen) we would. Any party which did not demand a nuke payback if Israel went down would never get another vote. The end of Israel means the end of the umma. We win.

BTW, we would help Israel rebuild, islam? Anyone guess, I would vote against it and I'm sure most Americans would.

The world will not be fine.

It will be a calamity the western world has never seen.

YOUR CLUELESS..I can't stop from laughing..omg...

It will be a calamity the western world has never seen.-August/Ronin Discussion

Today is the anniversary of Hiroshima. If my memory is right, I think the toll was 80-90,000 instantally, with more dying of complications afterward.

The irony is that if a blast goes off in Tel Aviv, a lot of the 'kill zone', and the great majority of the fallout footprint, will be in the West Bank and beyond.

Lets hope that the Israel gets advanced warning and can minimize their losses. Lets hope that they have the resolve to respond in kind and that we support their actions.

Hiroshima survived and is a vibrant city today. A nuclear blast might just be the thing that wakes people up and allows the civilized world to set the conditions necessary for a brighter future.

I would hope if iran tries to nuke Israel they fail. If not, it would cost iran much more than it would Israel. I think you are right Limes, Israel would be back better stronger and wizer. I don't worry about our supporting Israel we are bound by treaty to defend her, so far she is doing well with what we have given her. Imagine if we double our support.

In honor of Dr. Spencer, I present to you the following YTMND:

WildGuy -

Yeah, on August 23, August 22 will either change his username to TOLDUSO (as he stated on an earlier thread), or we'll never hear from him again. But what he'll probably do is change it to some obscure name like bobsmith, and we wouldn't have a clue.

August 22 -

Not to put words in your mouth, but what WILL you change your username to if your prove to be wrong? And I'm not saying that you will be wrong, although I hope that you are.

Regardless, it's only a matter of time before something major happens.

Millerite warnings about a date specific as the Day of Doom merely distract. As William Miller learned, October 22, 1844 came and went, and the world went on much as before. And so did the rest of that year, And 1845. And even 1945, though no one could call it a splendid year. Apocalyptic warnings, sings of The Beast or the return of the Messiah, distract from the sober matter at hand. There are people raised in a sinister ideology. Many of them, perhaps most, either believe it, or will do nothing to stop it, and instead of warning Infidels, rally round filiopietistically the faith of their fathers. We have to plan for a long war of self-defense. We have to plan how to educate the public, how to husband rather than squander resources, how to innoculate Infidels from the sympathic response they feel to this or that personally appealing Muslim colleague or acquiantance or friend, who offers them a false view of Islam, not necessarily in every case out of malevolence. We need to figure out what kinds of propaganda campaigns need to be waged, how to diminish Muslim financial resources that are used as the "wealth" weapon, how to prevent, in as effective and uncostly to ourselves way as possible, their acquisition of major weaponry. We need to find ways to identify, and then to exploit, the natural points of weakness within Islam -- as in, for example, Iraq.

All of this needs sober planning. No Apocalypse Now, the date of which then passes, and makes it seem as if those who warn of disaster, if measures are not taken, seem -- even by assocation -- to be so many silly chicken littles.

Please. Keep the Millerite warnings to a minimum. Let's talk about this again on August 23.

filiopietistically - not in my abridged dictionary - blindly?

Its tough not to extrapolate positive feelings about individuals to populations. But when 13% of any group actively supports the defeat of us and our way of life, what the other 87%, who may be good people, think becomes increasing irrelevant in an era of modern weapons.

We should take out Iran NOW and as Bruce Willis is known to say. YIPPEE KI YEAA ****** ******,
