Report: U.S.-French Alliance on U.N. Cease-Fire Resolution Crumbling

Because the French are reverting to their Eurabian ways and parroting the Arab League line. From Fox, with thanks to Infidel Pride:

UNITED NATIONS — The French-American alliance at the United Nations over a Mideast cease-fire agreement is crumbling, sources tell FOX News.

The French U.N. delegation has joined with Arab nations and is now calling for a complete and immediate Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon as a condition of any cease-fire, the sources said.

In addition, the French have reportedly agreed with Arab demands that the Lebanese force be accompanied only by UNIFIL, with no international force to be deployed.

This is a rerun of 2003, when D de V lobbied Cameroon and Angola to prevent the final Security Council resolution from materializing. Tell us again - why is France not an enemy?

France is an ally - just like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan. Dunno whether they qualify as 'staunch'

Is the O'Reilly boycott of France still on? I notice that recently, 'freedom-fries' were re-re-named 'french-fries'. Maybe it's time we called them 'Infidel-fries'.

Good news. It means more pow-pow and more time for IDF

Actually, although French official motives [guided by Jacques Chirac, whom the French call "Supermenteur", and Dominique de Villepin, who is really great at striking handsome poses] are bad, the original draft was not good either. It contained reference to "Sheba'a Farms," a territorial claim put forward by the Hizbullah AFTER Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon, as a mere pretext for continuing to fight to destroy Israel [while sponsored by Iran and Syria]. This fairly small area was part of Syria before the Six Day War. So Lebanon has no claim to it, nor does hizbullah which claims to speak in Lebanon's name]. Yet the original draft of the resolution mentioned and seemed to accept this spurious claim.
Second, the original draft equated the terrorist murderers held by Israel with Israeli soldiers held by hizbullah, who may not even be alive, judging from our experience with hizbullah's kidnapping and subsequent murder of three soldiers [one of them a Muslim Arab] in October 2000. Further, hizbullah is in violation of international law by not allowing the red cross to visit these two latest kidnapping victims. How come the so-called "humanitarian" "non-governmental organizations" do not mention this violation of law by hizbullah and indeed by the Lebanese govt which has lately identified itself with hizbullah [willingly or unwillingly is a separate issue]?

Now, the original draft contained these two unacceptable portions. Carolyn Glick gave a more thorough examination of the original draft in last Friday's Jerusalem Post. Dore Gold analyzes its faults at this link:

Completely agree. In fact, I recall sometime in 1981, Hafez al Assad making a statement that Damascus would never recognize Israel, and Israel responded the next day by announcing the annexation of the Golan. Never give that up. Sheba Farms too are a part of it.

Like Rush Limbaugh once pointed out, if the US was analyzed the way Israel is, the West Bank would be analogous to the West coast (a huge portion of the US was annexed from Mexico after the Mexican war) and one could call Florida the Florida strip. Also, ask Poland to annex huge portions of Belarussian terretory, and cede its western parts to Germany (and presumably shift the populations as well). That should go well with the EU and the Russians.

The bright side of this story, is that by coming apart, no resolution will be agreed upon, and Israeli troops would be free to do what needs to be done.

I see that Israel has named a new commander for the campaign. Consider escalating the war to Damascus.

As an American living in Germany only 20 minutes from the French border, let me remind everyone that the muslim population in France is very large and growing in size and political influence. The French political elites are doing nothing but attempting to ensure votes from the Islamists next election.

Eliyahu,

If I remember correctly, you are in Israel. What's the opinion "on the ground" of the replacement of Udi Adam? It's very hard to tell from afar if this is a good thing (meaning a tougher stance), or not.

Of course, I realize that all IDF actions really are cleared politically.

The headlines should have just read "france surrenders. AGAIN!"

Oh well, they will never learn ... not until it's too late, and then they'll come screaming to the US for help.

We'll help France when the time is right. They are hostages to the threat of internal civil war, so let's don't worry about them for now.

What we need to do is get the old standby nexus of English speaking countries together on this. We need to start toppling tyrannies, destroying bases of operation and support structures all around the world. We need to go in, do the work and leave. Let those supporters of the jihad remaining behind also support the consequences of jihad.

France will do what it can to avoid the damage, but damage will come in the catharsis.

I notice that recently, 'freedom-fries' were re-re-named 'french-fries'..

The term french fries is a misnomer, with the recipe having originated in the Wallonie half of Belgium. So let’s call them what les Belges call them: frites (pronounced freet).

610 * 623 * 732* 1066* 1215 * 1453 * 1492 * 1683 * 1928 * 1938 * 1948 * 1996 * 2001

Let’s quit pussy footing around. If the goal here is to destroy Israel and unleash a Jihadi tidal wave to sweep the world into the gutter of Sharia, then it’s silly to dance around meaningless cease fires.

Let’s bring in the Big Gun to make this debacle happen. Let’s bring in the Supreme Nimrod himself, President Jimmy Carter. He set the table for this whole mess in the first place. And, pompous ass that he is, he’s always anxious to ruin something new, or at least ruin something that he didn’t quite totally ruin first time round.

FreeBohemian,

I think that won't be a problem for the French politicians in the near future. France will be run soon by the Muslims and I am afraid that is the way Europe is going...

Tons of Muslim immigrants coming in and not careing at all for europe only to convert them to Islam!

They will try here as well, but Europes non Muslim population is shrinking while the Muslim population is growning.

Not a good trend!

I've heard numbers that Muslims make up 10% of the French population but 30% of children under the age of 10. The conquest will be over in a generation.

I'm wondering what the 'Native' French reaction will be when the political battle is lost. Is there a chance that they will respond and impose a non-democratic form of government to resist? Or maybe just fade quietly. This would be a fascinating case study if it wasn't so serious.

On a postive note: At today's press briefing, Tony Snow inched towards a new position. 'Democratics governments do not wage war on other democracies' has been replaced by 'Democratic governments are far more peaceful than the alternative'.

The French are appeasement monkeys of the lowest kind who would happily sell out any and all of their allies if they thought they could gain a single drop of influence with the Arab countries and restore the "good old days" of the "French Empire" that never existed.

Trust them to back an honest deal? Only if they weren't busy selling weapons to both factions ...

If they are backing an Arab-backed ceasefire its only because Hezbollah want to re-arm and the French need time to ship weapons via Iran and Syria ..

No more hudnas. The religion of submission has existed for 1400 years too long. Let's finish it once and for all.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Fools...when Jihad takes over Europe France will be one of the first to go down. They cater now to them in thier politics and let more Muslims move into thier society and Islam will take over France without firing a shot. Chirac made the comment France would nuke anyone would screwed with France well the Jihadist and Islamist will nuke him from within with the taking over his country, but alas he's an old fart and he'll probably be laid up in some crypt soon and will have left his country a legacy of destruction. Grand statesman he is....

Simply, don't trust the French - corrupt, self obsessed turds.

Contribution to world peace? NIL

France, and indeed Europe is is done for as western societies, cultures and governments..

Less we forget the Bolsheviks were a minority when they captured Russia, the French Revolution was a minority when they captured France, and the National Workers German Peoples Workers Party numbered only 8 members when a sociopath name of Adolph joined it

Islam accounts for "officially" 10% of the population in France, but I suspect in reality it is 15% or more in other European Countries..and Muslims act as Borg with a single minded goal, unlike kaffirs who get divisive over issues of taxes, abortion, homosexuals, etc.

And then there is oil, all European countries save Norway, are dependent on Iran and Arab countries for oil, and there also dependent on those same countries as markets for their products. Remember the Muslim boycott of Denmarks products?

It is a traditon in the old south to sit death watch on family members, I sat death watch on my uncle who died of Hodgkins disease, a horrible, horrible, smelly, painful death..not pleasant, not fast, but long, drawn out and excruciating for him and family members.

I feel like I'm sitting death watch on the west, which is dying of Hodgkins disease..totally avoidable if those nitwits who call themselves conservatives, did not invest all of their mental, emotional and fiscal energy in a stupid culture war, and champion the corporate elite who has waged war on the midddle class, using that same middle class, by manipulating their fears and bigotry in a stupid internal culture war.

OK, now stand up. Good. Now raise your hands, no higher..no HIGHER!. Good, now turn around and run.
Now you are in the french army.

Come on by and visit me,
steve

Yes, there are advantages to the collapse of the French agreement: it had its flaws and it just delays any UN resolution, which will certainly be flawed.

However it is disappointing. For all of 24? 36? hours, it seemed as if the French had discovered backbone. But not. It was only an illusion. They took the bold step of surrendering.

This is a French story. But not only French. The question still looms: does the West (with its various components) have the resolve to fight Islamic fascism? The French don't. Ned Lamont doesn't.

Not terribly surprising then, is it, that France
does this, as soon it will be the Islamic Republic of Frankenstan.

Best for us in the USA to ponder the fate of
Europe, and make it very uncomfortable for
Muslims to be here. Perhaps the only way to
do this now is to mock their cult and it's
deranged founder. Treating this sickening
cult with "respect" is a big mistake.

It has to be a new world record, the fwench have surrendered before they deploied.

Death to Islam!

I was over in San Francisco yesterday and went through United Nations Plaza in Civic Center. The plaza marks a grand two block entry to San Francisco's classical city hall.

It was only later that day that I realized that this marked the exact anniversary of the UN charter's signing. When I was a child I was so proud that the United Nations charter had been signed here. I knew the UN had its problems, but when I was small I honestly believed that diplomacy would eventually bring peace to the world.

Even though the Civic Center area is quite grand, it lies adjacent to a particually rough stretch of Market Street, which is the city's main drag. Throughout the '70's and '80's this area became steadily worse. United Nations Plaza became one big homeless encampment, and everybody except the odd unwary tourist avoided it. I realize that it is too easy to consider this symbolic--but the image is unfortunately disturbing and striking, nonetheless.

The plaza is a tiny bit better than it was 10 years ago. The permanent encampment has been cleared out, but the area is still full of transients. Someone is always urinating into the beautiful fountain. In Civic Center station, the BART (subway) station below the plaza, are huge banners with the UN logo, a big "60" and the words, "A Time for Renewal". How right they are. I wish it were so.

Infidelpride & vee,
the commander of the northern command, Udi Adam, probably needed to be replaced for various failings of tactics. The strategic failings should probably be attributed to the political echelon, namely Olmert and his retarded female sidekick, Miss Tsipi [by the way, her full first name is Tsipora, meaning bird. Yes, she's a birdbrain]. Olmert & tsipi have made mistake after mistake. You may have heard this morning [Thursday, 8-10-06] that olmert decided to postpone a ground push up to the Litani. He claims he wants to let international diplomacy work. This is outrageous. I don't think I have to spell out why this is so for the rather sophisticated JW/DW readers. Olmert has made several outrageous statements in the past month that have angered Israelis and harmed our national unity. There was no reason to say many of the things that he did say. Tsipi operates in the world of diplomacy like Alice operated in Wonderland. She is naive at best. She seems to have no idea what is really going on. She too doesn't know what to say. And doesn't realize what a fool she is. Maybe she needs a big rabbit to explain reality to her.
Aryeh [Ari?] Shavit has an article in HaArets [today or yesterday] criticizing olmert and calling for a national unity government, bringing in Netanyahu, maybe Lieberman, and Yossi Beilin. I would modify Shavit's plan. Olmert's removal might be harmful, as Shavit says, so let him stay as pm. But clip his wings and make him shut up. Tsipi definitely has to get out of the foreign ministry and let Netanyahu take it over. Amir Peretz, who was active in "Peace Now" in his younger years, is proving much better as defense minister than I expected.

Since I am letting off steam, I don't like those reports on bbc and sky and cnn [especially bbc] about 3/4 million refugees in Lebanon. We have more than a million, maybe 1.5 million, people in the north of Israel [more heavily populated than south Lebanon] that have either fled to the south and center of Israel or are living in bomb shelters or hiding in their homes, etc. Yet, bbc reports almost nothing of this, it seems to me, whereas sky news may report it slightly more. Another thing that I have not seen reported on bbc is that several of the hizbullah's long range rockets have landed in the Jenin area in the "palestinian authority" zone. Nasrallah himself apologized for killing fellow Muslims and warned Arabs to leave Haifa lest they be killed by his rockets.

This is a game to make certain people look good. There is no possibility of a ceasefire or any other brokered settlement. Britain was offered a peace conference by Mussolini in September 1939, and Germany put out feelers for a negotiated peace in 1941-43 through Geneva.

What is the point ? France has been wrong-footed by Russia and cannot swing things in Europe - the era of french puissance inside the EU is gone and France is 'bending the way the wind blows' to retain some influence in Syria and Lebanon.

The real issue is Iran and nuclear weapons - the rest is a sideshow (sorry Israel) but if Iran gets nuclear weapons we must consider nuclear war a distinct short-term possibility.

France has a crumbling political system and is heading for real crisis. The Presidential Election is in 2007.

Eliyahu

Israel is fighting 2 wars - one military, other PR. With the current news focus on the terror attempts on Britain, it's a good opportunity for Israel to use full force against Lebanon, and maybe even take out the Syrian Air Force. If it doesn't get in the news, or has to share time with the terror story, the Mohammedans (i.e. Hizbullah and Hamas) won't get any traction in the PR war, which is where they seem to be doing well, and more importantly, what they need in order to survive. If the spotlight isn't on them, then no matter how bad Israel would otherwise look, they won't get attention, except maybe on al Jazeera. Which isn't good enough.

I see that Bibi weighed in on the conflict in the Jerusalem post today. In the meantime, the US looks like it's as much an ally of Israel as Saudis are to the US.

I have reached the point with these people where I am finding myself hoping the entire nation-state of France crumbles to the ground along with their bogus "alliance" with the US.
