Add a dash of Leftism and anti-Westernism to the mix (plus a heaping tablespoon of anti-Americanism and a pinch of anti-Semitism), and you have Westerners ripe for "reversion".

First, you need to read what he said because he is saying that all of the Christians are to become Muslims who do not believe in the Trinity.

Well I say fat chance, because I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour. I believe that God is one and God is three.

Second, Mohammed drew on one of the early Christian heresies. I think it was Arianism, rather than Nestorianism. Arius did not believe in the Trinity, and the whole of the East was following in his wake. However, there were a few Bishops who held out against Arius and the crisis in the east was finally resolved when Arius was declared a heretic.

This is the Christian heresy the lies behind Islam. Mohammed was a very screwed up personality and he was definitely no prophet of God. He was a liar and a thief, and then he became a murderer. This is the message that people in the west need to know about Mohammed.

As was so graphically depicted in the final scene of the movie "The Passion of the Christ," Satan was totally blind-sided and sucker-punched just when he thought his arch-enemy, Jesus Christ, had been defeated by means of his ignominious death on the cross. By this action, Jesus freed from Satan's grasp the virtuous souls who had been awaiting redemption and who could then enter heaven, and set in place the means for all men to reach salvation through the efficacy of His sacrifice.

Don't mean to be a literalist here, but if you don't recognize the Trinity, the crucifixion etc, doesn't that mean you're not actually a Christian? In other words, isn't he really addressing a secularist/atheist? And if that's who he's really addressing, why is the Pope included in this invite? Would bet the house and the car that the Pope is sold on the concepts of the Trinity and so on.

The whole idea of 'please join us dissatisfied Christians of the West' might play well in Western Europe, but it's not going to play well in most parts of the U.S.

During the final moments of my show preparation this morning I happened to catch Howard Dean on CNN promoting the candidacy of John Kerry. Dean went into this rant about George Bush that was, to say the least, incredible. Incredible because I haven't heard a politician cram so many lies into so little time in quite a while.

Dean said the president was not telling the truth when he said:

"There was a connection between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda, which was not true."
In fact, it was true. Those connections have now been proven.

"That Saddam Hussein had something to do with terrorism, which was not true."
Come on, Howard. Saddam was making a big deal of writing checks to the families of suicide bombers. He was harboring terrorists in Baghdad. Ever heard of Abu Nidal?
"When he said in the State of the Union that Iraq was purchasing uranium from Africa, which was not true."
George Bush never made that statement. Dean is lying, and he knows he's lying. Why didn't the CNN interviewer call him on this?
"When the Vice President said that in Iraq they are accumulating nuclear weapons, which was not true."
I can find no instance where Cheney said that Iraq was accumulating nuclear weapons, only that Saddam was attempting to do so.
What a shame it is that Dean imploded. What fun he would be as a candidate!

Problem is Mr Spencer Howard Dean spoke to truth, the o nly connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda, is a fatwa issued against Saddam by Osama.. who considered him an apostate.

And Sadam Hussein was only loosely connected to Jihadi's, yes he did write checks to suicide bombers families, but does that justify invading the country, ruining our economy, indebting the future and the deaths and battlefield injuries of over 25,000 young men and women.

Inferring that a disabled veteran, an amputee (arm and legs), a war hero is some kind of coward or surrender monkey (McClellan) or that a man who served in the Marines with honor and distinction (Sen Murtha) is some kid of coward or friend of "terrorists".. pathetic ad hominems, from draft dodging chicken hawks and a President who hid in the Texas Air Guard and even went AWOL when transferred to the Alabama Air Guard (and yes he did). Turns out he's a physician! Obviously, he follows in the hallowed tradition of Dr. Mengele given the company he keeps. Why do I picture this guy conducting all sorts of gruesome experiments on "infidels"? Pretty amazing when someone who's supposed to save life goes on to advocate the BS he does. In Christian-Muslim relations, peace not served by ignoring history: healing of conflict requires honesty, repentance from both parties.

Over the past few decades, studies have shown again and again that Americans tend to have a poor grasp of history. In fact, the scholar Christopher Lasch once wrote that Americans love nostalgia, because we see it as a form of entertainment. But we dislike real history, because real historical facts are inconvenient. Yesterday helps shape today. Real history places annoying obligations of truth on our present and future, and gets in the way of re-inventing ourselves.

As a result, quipped a teacher friend, “history is whatever we say it is, as long as we can get away with it.”
I remembered her words recently as I read a news story. The story reported an Islamic leader as suggesting that it was European Christians, never Muslims, who tried to root out those who didn’t agree with them.
Perhaps the reporter misunderstood the speaker. Perhaps the speaker made an honest mistake. Both Muslims and Christians have committed many sins against each other over the centuries. In the United States, we have an opportunity to overcome that difficult history and learn to live with each other in mutual acceptance. But respect can’t emerge from falsehood.

Catholics who do know history may remember the following:
Islam has embraced armed military expansion for religious purposes since its earliest decades. In contrast, Christianity struggled in its divided attitudes toward military force and state power for its first 300 years. No “theology of Crusade” existed in Western Christian thought until the 11th century. In fact, the Christian Byzantine Empire had already been resisting Muslim expansion in the East for 400 years before Pope Urban II called the First Crusade — as a defensive response to generations of armed jihad.

Much of the modern Middle East was once heavily Christian. Muslim armies changed that by imposing Islamic rule. Surviving Christian communities have endured centuries of marginalization, discrimination, violence, slavery and outright persecution — not always and not everywhere; but as a constant, recurring and central theme of Muslim domination.

That same Christian suffering continues down to the present. In the early years of the 20th century, the Muslim Ottoman Empire murdered more than 1 million Armenian Christians for ethnic, economic, but also religious reasons. Many Turks and other Muslims continue to deny that massive crime even today. Coptic Christians in Egypt — who, even after 13 centuries of Muslim prejudice and harassment, cling to the faith — continue to experience systematic discrimination and violence at the hands of Islamic militants.

Harassment and violence against Christians continue in many places throughout the Islamic world, from Bangladesh, Iran, Sudan, Pakistan and Iraq, to Nigeria, Indonesia and even Muslim-dominated areas of the heavily Catholic Philippines. In Saudi Arabia, all public expressions of Christian faith are forbidden. The on-going Christian flight from Lebanon has helped to transform it, in just half a century, from a majority Christian Arab nation to a majority Muslim population.

These are facts. The Muslim-Christian conflict is a very long one, rooted in deep religious differences, and Muslims have their own long list of real and perceived grievances. But especially in an era of religiously inspired terrorism and war in the Middle East, peace is not served by ignoring, subverting or rewriting history, but rather by facing it humbly as it really happened and healing its wounds.

That requires honesty and repentance from both Christians and Muslims. Comments like those reported in the recent news story I read — claiming that historically, it was European Christians, never Muslims, who tried to root out those who disagreed with them — are both false and do nothing to help.

Zawahiri's prescription comes down to this:

"The best solution to avoid getting sprinkled by the dung is to jump into the dungheap."
