Two considerations about this:
1. There were warnings in November 2003 to Muslims to leave major American cities. For whatever reason, they came to nothing. I am not saying this is another empty threat -- I have no information on it one way or the other -- but when Ibrahim Hooper leaves the country, I'll really be concerned.
2. Hamid Mir may be entirely correct, but he is just one source. There is no way to verify what he is saying at this point.

1. al Qaeda has a pattern of years of patience in planning each strike.
2. If al Qaeda has invested tons into nukes, then they're likely going to use them to go for the win.
I see lots of reasons why they would have nukes.
A.Q. Khan gave the arab world nuclear technology. Libya just suspended its nuclear weapons program and came out in the open with the IAEA. Pakistan has nuclear bombs and won't let our intelligence guys talk to A.Q. Khan.
Bin Laden wouldn't have armed Afghanistan with nukes because they have no standard delivery method for the payload (aside from human bomb smugglers).
It's worth worrying about.
They're warning their people to leave the USA because they're going to attack us until somebody wins this war. To them, the US is enemy territory.

I don't know much of this Paul Williams, save for hearing him on 930 Talk Radio out of Buffalo... but he seems to suggest that an attack could coincide with the beginning of Ramadan (This coming Friday).
My impression was that violence usually breaks out at the End of Ramadan.

A double-edged sword. On one hand, it might actually get some Muslims to leave the U.S.A., and this is hardly a bad thing -- considering there are only 2 million of them here (I know the vocal minority makes it sound like it's far more, but that number comes directly from a U.S. Army Intelligence manual, 2006, so don't be fooled by the Muslims here in the States that might claim otherwise.)
And then on the other hand, we know that this warning might carry with it the next big attack that most of us have been expecting.
There's no way to stop the next attack if the enemy is determined, so just buckle-up and wait for it. It's not their attacks that matter, it's how we react to these attacks.
If an American city is attacked or the provocation is on a level that we feel dire jeopardy to thousands of innocents, our reaction should be overwhelming and immediate. There's hardly any reason for me to expound on what that would constitute, but obviously there are many logical targets for retaliation that would send the clear message to the Islamic world once and for all: Don't Tread on Us.
It is time for the President to announce a retaliation doctrine for attacks on the US. The doctrine should state in unequivocal terms that any attack will be met with a disproportional response on the state that sponsored or supported the action. Unless determined otherwise, the presumption will be that 'axis-of-evil' countries are involved.
Retaliatory actions will be against leadership, industrial, and military targets and will involve civilian causalities. Civilians need to be warned to stay clear of potential targets in the case of an attack on the US.
On a tangential note, CBS is premiering a new show tonight called Jericho in which a small town deals with life after two atomic bombs wipe out Denver and Atlanta. I have high hopes that they deal with real, tangible post attack survival issues and not the usual hollywood drivel.

I can't imagine a nuke because if caught the authorities could trace it back to the country of origin. But a simple dirty bomb would cause the evacuation of an entire city for weeks and months simply on the fear factor alone. And apparently you can find radioactive material anywhere as compared with the difficulty of making a nuke.
And remember, they don't have to knock a city down but rather cause mass hysteria which would bring the markets and the dollar crashing down.
Our country is up to its eyeballs in massive debt, and a little push is all they need to do us in.

I couldn't help but notice that over the past few months, we in the US have received several very public offers from Ahmadinejad and bin Laden to convert to Islam to save ourselves from a coming attack. When I heard about the contents of Ahmadinejad's first letter to Bush, I recognized it as an offer to convert. As readers of this site know well, Muslims are required to offer People Of The Book an opportunity to convert to Islam before they can take further action.
We have now been warned several times. The WND article only emphasizes that we have already been warned - convert to Islam or die by the sword.
Ahmadinejad, bin Laden, and their ilk should be very careful about what they ask for. They need to realize that we have been playing nice in Afghanistan and Iraq, with restrictive rules of engagement and careful targeting to minimize collateral damage. They should study the US Civil War to learn what we can do when we really get upset. The Civil War was fought with axes and stone knives compared to what we are capable of doing now.
More encouraging news. Papa Smirk interviewed by Wolf Blitzer and he was asked point blank if we had information that Bin Laden was in Pakistan would we go in ourselves?
The reply was absolutely, and I hope it sticks. If a country has these murderers and does nothing, they deserve no respect for their sovereignty. We may have to do operations like this for decades. ESPECIALLY in Pakistan.
I read this story this morning. I discount it for several reasons:
1. This terror mastermind in question, somethingjumah, is described as an "highly skilled commercial pilot", trained with Mohammad Atta, (ya, there's an skilled pilot) but then the article also lets slip the fact that he doesn't even have a pilot's licence, so he can not have flown a single hour as a commercial pilot, or any other type of pilot, except as a student trainee.
2. No terrorist would care about warning muslims to leave the US. According to islamic doctrine, any muslim killed as collateral damage would be a martyr and gets an immediate pass to heaven. In fact, to die in such an action, is their greatest aspiration. Secondly, they don't value the lives of their own people anymore than they do ours, so a warning to leave the US is laughable. Thirdly, the real jihad is the slow jihad, and for that, muslims must came to America and stay for the long haul, in order for the prospect of an islamic America to have a chance of being realized.
I like the ideological stance of the WND, but I also believe that a lot of what they publish is just nonsense. It makes for titillating reading, but how much of it is supported by collaborating evidence? I don't see any such evidence in this article.
What does worry me about the al-qaeda nuke threat is that there will be no military response should it occur.
Think about it for a minute. Let's say that a terrorist does nuke a city, or two cities, or three cities, what could the US do in response?
Nothing.
Who or what will the president order nuked in retaliation? Our staunch allies Pakistan or Saudi Arabia? Not likely. We can't nuke Afghanistan, supposedly we own Afghanistan now. Should we nuke London, where most of the terrorists are in the west? Not likely.
See the problem? The US has no military response to one or all of its cities being destroyed.
In the cold war it was simple, Russia was to blame, and we had no compunction about killing all of them. The whole MAD system was designed to kill them all on a hair trigger.
Now with the islamic threat, there is no MAD, no hair trigger, no system for quick retaliation, there are no identifiable nations to hit, just lots of little islamic dictatorships, all of which are "peace-loving, staunch allies" of the US, so America is left holding its dick in its hand when one of its cities is destroyed.
The mistake the US made was to make friends with saudia arabia or Pakistan or any islamic country. What we need to do is to make enemies of them. And threaten them with MAD should one of our cities be destroyed. We need to invite them into the same MAD relationship we had with the Russians, that worked to keep them cool. Instead, the US has been in bed with the islamic nations, buying oil from them, being beholden to their wares, thereby making it impossible for the US to use deterence against them.
The islamic world knows that so they can faciliate a nuclear terrorist strike on the US without fear of reprisal. What's worse, even Chavez can help the terrorists and nothing would happen to Venezuela because the US consumes as much oil from that country as it does from Saudi Arabia.
What a mistake.

EVRY, France, Sept 20, 2006 (AFP) - Police unions reacted with outrage Wednesday after two members of a CRS anti-riot unit were badly hurt in an ambush by youths in the southern Paris suburb of Corbeil-Essonnes.
The men were patrolling Tuesday night in an unmarked car in the Les Tartarets housing project when the vehicle was attacked with stones, a police spokesman said.
When one of the officers left the vehicle, he was set upon by about 20 youths who had been hiding in the undergrowth.
"The driver rushed to help. The two were then covered in blows to the face and other parts of the body as they lay on the ground," the spokesman said. The gang dispersed when reinforcements arrived.
Both officers suffered injuries to the face and head, as well as bruising to the body. One was hospitalised.
The Synergie-Officier police union said it was "revolted by this savage attack .... These explosions of violence against the police are a kind of guerrilla warfare aimed at getting the forces of law and order to leave certain areas in order to immerse them in a logic of sedition and terror."
The UNSA union said the officers were "victims of a genuine ambush by individuals whose sole aim was to attack the forces of law and order."
Opposition parties said the attack was a sign that the security policies of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, a likely presidential candidate in next year's election, have failed.
It followed a stark warning about the risk of a new outbreak of suburban rioting in a letter published Tuesday from the prefect or state-appointed governor of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, centre of last year's disturbances.
Jean-Francois Cordet told Sarkozy in a letter sent in June that tensions were continuing to rise in the northern Paris suburbs -- with rising crime, a court system that was failing to punish, and the active incitement of Islamic radicals.
In a statement Wednesday the Socialist party (PS) said that the attack on the two policemen "showed that the alarming comments made by the prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis apply to many other suburbs as well."
Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said that the government will "draw lessons from what has happened in order to devise appropriate responses ... to the risks to which part of our forces of law and order are exposed."

More seriously, I believe the American people would force the government to retaliate to a WMD attack with an overwhelming counter. If there is some sort of attack, I think it would be a dirty bomb, as that is what Shukrajumah or whatever his name is, has been trained in. Similar articles regarding the interview Hamid Mir had with the Al Qaeda commander in Afghanistan last week have been posted on many websites, not just WND. Maybe those sites are quacks, but look at the mounting evidence....i.e., the videos coming from Al Qaeda and Iran calling for us to convert and warning of a coming attack. I haven't seen this many warnings since 9/11. I've discussed this with some of my friends and acquaintances and they've all said Americans will begin "open season" on Muslims across the country, bombing the mosques and killing as many as possible. The government will act and the first target should be Waziristan. Regarding the suitcase nukes, Al Qaeda is saving those for after we attack Iran so they'll have justification. I say again, if al-qaeda nuked washington, or any other city, the US would have no obvious target to nuke in retaliation.
Has anyone else noticed the telling signs that something is about to go down?
1. Both Chavez and Ahmadinejad have alluded very specifically to the end of the U.S. in the short term (near future etc.). Chavez even invoked the name of allah after stating that the U.S. would end very soon. Do they know something we don't?
2. The warning cycle started in earnest in January with the offering of a truce by OBL. I would think this cycle has to be close to complete.
3. The name in the article (one of Adnan's aliases) Jaffar Tayyer has great significance in Islam in a very martial sense. There is no doubt that this alias was chosen for a reason. Look it up.
4. One of the NEIN readers suggests KI tablets are being used for purely peaceful purposes by OTM's coming over the southern border. I highly doubt this for various reasons since antibiotics are as ubiquitous as pez, we are talking highly uneducated individuals on the most part and (since I live in the area) there aren't bat caves and fruit bats flying around everywhere near the border. Lots of the land is flatter than Nebraska and the bats that are there are no larger than your middle finger. Sooooooo....
5. More fuel for the fire: Ramadan and Yom Kippur coincide this year. This only happens 2 or 3 times within a 33 year period. The timing would be perfect for any nutjob wanting to make a splash. Look at history where these two events coincide.

If a terror attack would be carried out by some David, Richard and Peter and if - additionally - police would find out later, that nobody had known before, that David, Richard and Peter were actually Muslims - the number of potential terrorists within the borders of our countries multiplies from a few millions to hundreds of millions.
All the things that should have been done and have not been done up to now - such as monitoring mosques or stopping Muslim immigration for example - will certainly still be necessary and useful, but never again be as adjuvant as they would have been before. Then we are up against a perfectly disguised enemy.
A few weeks ago a Muslim proudly wrote in an internet debate: "converts to Islam are winning-team joiners". I do not agree. Not up to now! Up to now the converts are a tiny minority of insane people. But their number is steadily growing - at least in Europe ( I don't know the American numbers of converts). My grandfather told me about people not at all being Nazis until about the early 1930s and not at all being Nazis right after May 1945. In between: winning-team joiners. People like that always exist!
The biggest problem we face are not the Islamic countries. They can be militarily defeated - just as some of you wrote above. The biggest problem are those among our own fellow citizens - those who are trying to force us to "respect Islam" which means indeed being respected for a behaviour a non-Muslim would never be respected for, but condemned. Those who thus help Islam to appear as a "winning team".
Idolchatter, you are exactly right. The last of the warning cycle will be a tape from Bin Laden, then we will know for certain it's coming. I truly realized it after reading Chavez's comments at the UN yesterday, the fact that both he and Ahmadinejad both stated America would be finished very soon. I stated in another post that I believe it will be a dirty bomb in NY and Washington. I haven't seen this many warnings since the summer of 2001. I hope our government is prepared and ready with a plan.

I believe if this does actually happen sometime between now and election day, there will be mass chaos and "open season" will be declared upon the Muslims living here.....people taking the law into their own hands because our government is too politically correct to do so. Earlier this week while listening to an interview on the radio while driving to work, it occurred to me that you only can prevail in a conflict when something the opponent values above all else is threatened with destruction. The fanatics have told us they don't value anything, except their version of faith. I see merit in what materialguy says. Only I wouldn't have us destroy it, because that would only bolster their view that all evil resides here in USA - I would approach it differently. So why not irradiate Mecca- no haj this year fellas- or the next hundred either...
