An update on this story from Reuters:
MUMBAI (Reuters) - A prize-winning bikini competition contestant who claimed to represent Pakistan, sparking some outrage in the Muslim country, says she wanted to project the nation as a modern one.
Officials in Pakistan, which does not hold beauty pageants, said on Thursday they were investigating how Texas-based Mariyah Moten, 22, entered a "Miss Bikini" pageant in China last month as a Pakistani contestant.
[...]
"I have broken all the barriers, and in the coming years there will be other Pakistani contestants who will carry this title," Moten, described by Pakistani media as the country's first bikini queen, told the Times of India newspaper.
"My intention was to project Pakistan in a very modern way."
The behavior of many Pakistani National Assembly members over the pending Women's Protection Bill should serve as an accurate gauge of how "modern" Pakistan sees itself as far as women are concerned. Ms. Moten may not be fully aware of this side of her country.
Pakistani authorities said they might take up the issue with China, and might also withdraw from Moten privileges offered to people of Pakistani descent such as visa-free travel to Pakistan.
[...]
"The hardliners are basically people who impose their thoughts on others, and we are not affected by people like them.
Not in the US, at least, thankfully.
"It is actually very amusing how they are always so ready to react," the daily quoted her as saying.
A rather naive assessment, when one considers how often the response of those "hardliners" involves threats and violence.
Ms. Moten doesn't get it...next beauty contest, she should wear a "teeny-weeny polka-dot...burqa." No, make that a long, black burqua with two eye-slits. That should make everyone in the progressive country of Pakistan happy. She really needs to get up to speed on her ancestral homeland.
Here is her pic.

She will last for exactly 10 minutes in the nation that she says is modern. And yes, pakistan is taking up the issue with China.

Well, apparently you can enter the contest from whereever your ancestry is from. Doesn't bother me, although if she's now from America, she needs to enter as American or relinguish her citizenship. The problem the mohammadons males have, is that she's choosing to enter (free will) it, get publicity (muslim women shouldn't be seen or heard outside immediate family) and possibly win and go on to different things, instead of becoming a brood mare. I'm sure they enjoy looking at her, although they wouldn't admit it. The bottom line is, she is choosing for herself instead of a muslim male making decisions for her.
"and might also withdraw from Moten privileges offered to people of Pakistani descent such as visa-free travel to Pakistan."
Such a hardship, no visa free travel to Pakistan.
Mariyah Moten is taking the most effective approach in fighting against Islam. Right now, she is one of the most well known women to Pakistanis since her story is being carried by most Pakistani newspapers and her picture is on many Pakistani websites. She is even being debated by officials of the Pakistani government. Why? Because she has asserted her freedom as a woman!
Although she is not Muslim, by affirming herself as a Pakistani patriot and even declaring that "she wanted to project the nation as a modern one" she has set herself up a symbol of opposition to the Islamic oppression of women. Her statement "I have broken all the barriers, and in the coming years there will be other Pakistani contestants who will carry this title" is a direct challenge to the Islamists by telling their daughters (and sons) that they too can be free of Sharia.
Every Pakistani girl who dreams of wearing beautiful clothes or swimming at the beach and every Pakistani boy who has a picture of Ms. Moten on their computer are potential warriors in the fight against Islam. May Mariyah Moten's brave stand inspire the youth of Pakistan to be free.
Looks like Pakistan isn't ready to be a modern, enlightened and progressive nation yet. The old proverb "Never try to teach a pig to sing" comes to mind. Don't waste your time trying to teach Pakis to be civilized.
It is a recuring theme among Muslims -- and little more than lipstick on a pig:
"Bikini queen aimed to show Pakistan as modern"
could just as easily be:
'Moderate' Muslims aim to show Islam a 'Religion of Peace'
Both distortions are abject falsehoods. Pakistan is NOT modern. Islam is NOT about peace.
remember pakistani women have half a brain, with widow nasheem as the first representative.
I wonder why Lebanon isn't rioting over their bikini-clad entry?

Fedup, I thought they all took turns sharing the half a brain.
"The Bikini winner was crowned "Queen Pearl" and received USD 5,000 in prize money; second and third place earned the title "Miss Pearl," and received USD 3,000 and USD 2,000 respectively, according to the pageant's organizing committee."

Ler's hope she uses part of it for a handgun and a concealed carry permit.
I went out and looked at some images of the lovely lady. This is how I will think of Naseem from now on, since we won't be able to communicate with her once she's behind the Pakistan firewall.
Please make note of when that electronic curtain goes up... then count the days after when you see Naseems postings... evaluate the lie on how she managed to get past the thing.
Dang - I went out to Bohemond_1069's link to Mariah Moten and Miss Lebanon and I testify that there is a God and he is about love. One look at those beautiful examples of womanhood and my bloodlust is knocked back dramatically. Unfortunately it's replaced by sexlust, but that's my problem and another story. Anyway, remember there are many beautiful creatures in dar al-Islam as well as children who can be spared future misery and men of intellect and common sense. Let that temper our instincts as much as it can but with full knowledge that many others stand in the way.
