BRITISH troops in Iraq said they killed one of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's top global lieutenants, who escaped from a US prison in Afghanistan last year.Omar Faruq was shot dead while resisting arrest during a raid by about 200 British troops in Iraq's second biggest city, Basra, British military spokesman Major Charlie Burbridge said.
US leaders have described Faruq as the top al-Qaeda operative in South-East Asia. He was caught in Indonesia in 2002 and held at a high-security detention centre at Bagram airbase, north of the Afghani capital Kabul, until his escape last year.
“The individual had been tracked across Iraq and was in hiding in Basra,” Major Burbridge said, calling him a “very, very significant man”.
Faruq, once believed to be the main link between bin Laden's followers and the Jemaah Islamiah militant group blamed for bombings in Indonesia, was one of four men who escaped from Bagram in July last year.

Apparently, Borat was screened at the recent Toronto International Film Festival. A reviewer friend mentioned it in passing but must have assumed I knew what he was talking about as he didn't enlighten me as to what the movie was about. Also screened at the TIFF, a movie named New Moon, made by an Iranian film maker and banned in Iran because it featured women actresses and also showed the persecution of the Iranian Kurds through the story of some musicians who wanted to put on a concert with fellow Kurdish musicians in Iraq.

In the UK layabouts like Izzadeen and Choudhary are paid for each thing that their womenfolk drop. It's what's called a nice little earner at the expense of the Infidel taxpayer. They get about £1500 per month excluding perks, that's about $3000 including free healthcare, medication etc.
So British troops may dispose of Al Qaeda rubbish but there is plenty more being bred over here.

Shot while resisting arrest. An excellent reason. Shot while attempting to escape is also a good one. I hope we begin seeing these incidents more often.
When I was about 16 there was a dangerous escapee (convicted of two murders) on the loose for about three weeks. My older, married brother even nailed the windows in his house shut. This particular perp was also "shot while resisting arrest." That phrase was used very often in the Ole South.
