I thought the Security Council had agreed with one another, as a precondition of extending yet another deadline, to support the imposition of sanctions on Iran if Iran were to default on said deadline. When Iran did ignore the deadline, China and Russia quickly backed away from imposing sanctions. What a slap in the face from these "favored-trade nations."
Curbing nuclear Iran is probably the single most critical UN action of the millennium, and we're excusing this blatant betrayal from two permanent members of the Security Council, who were clearly acting in their own self (petro) interest.
