Kerosene tanker bombing targets Shi'ites in Baghdad's Sadr City, 34 dead

Sunni-Shi'ite Jihad Update from Reuters: "Ramadan bomb kills 34 in Iraq"

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A bomb killed 34 people in Baghdad's Sadr City Shi'ite slum on Saturday as Iraq's minority Sunnis began the fasting month of Ramadan, which U.S. commanders said might see a rise in sectarian bloodshed.
The bomb -- most likely a car bomb, according to police -- struck near a tanker distributing kerosene for stoves in Sadr City, whose poor residents are the power base of cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army militia.
In addition to the 34 people killed, 35 were injured, many badly burned.
Sunni militants claimed responsibility, declaring the attack revenge for killings by Shi'ite militia.
"This operation comes in reaction to the crimes of the Mehdi Army against our Sunni kin in Baghdad," the Jamaat Jund al-Sahaba -- Soldiers of the Prophet's Companions -- said in a claim posted on the Internet. "Our swords can reach the depth of your areas, so stop killing unarmed Sunnis."
U.S. commanders had warned for weeks that they expected a surge of violence to accompany the holy month, having observed similar patterns in previous years.

Ramadan would be such a happy occasion if they just stop confusing firebomb with fireworks...

I know in the past Ramadan was bad for unbelievers and could lead to sectarian violence too, but now Unbelievers may have to go on Jihad against Muslims. AP is reporting that some guy named Mohammad (in a Pizza Hut in Pakistan) says the angel Gabriel is telling him that Allah is adding a new chapter to the Koran. Part of the new chapter says that current Muslims are "apes and pigs" and that Unbelievers should slay them. This is one of the passages from the new communication from Allah:

"So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the Muslims wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

BIN LADEN IS DEAD

HOPEFULLY

died on august 23rd

Probably shock from the non appearance of the MAHDI

ONLY 1.2 BILLION to take his place

Bin Laden ain't dead, I saw him and Elvis this morning at Krispy Kream Donuts in B'ham Ala. Seen it my own two eyes I did.

CAIR had better get on their toes. Already Muslims are being called "Apes and Pigs" and people are yelling "slay the Muslims wherever you find them". It's a little threatening to Muslims. But then again, it is dictation from God and it's not open to interpretation.

AMartinez-

That is really funny. A Bin Laden and Elvis sighting-LOL....

Just another example of the peace of Islam once it takes over the whole world.

If people start routinely referring to Muslims as "Apes and Pigs" is that threatining? Why shouldn't Muslims be called Apes and Pigs? Why not?

It's no different than every Christmas season when the Methodists traditionally fire-bomb the Baptists, and the Catholics car-bomb the Evangelicals in an orgy of divinely inspired senseless slaughter.

Please, let's not call Muslims apes and pigs. Apes and pigs deserve better. Calling them mules would be more appropriate, considering how stubbornly resistant they are to logic.

l would rather not call muslims any animal names, as it would be demeaning to the animals, as animals are God's creation. l would rather call the muslim horde monsters and or demons. seems they kill each other with more gusto. can you feel the peace with their ramadan coming on. l wonder if they resist food as much as killing? oh they just cannot kill one person, just like lays potato chips,,they cant stop at one killing.

aahhhhhh...Ramadan , as Col. Kill-Gore fat-boy Sadr would say..

" I love the smell of car-bombs in the Morning, it's that smell...you know...that smell.. like burning Muslims..the smell".

Some day this Jihad will end Capt.Hooper .

The press corps is disappointing.

A couple of months ago there was talk of the need to control Baghdad and coverage of the forces massing to bring control to the streets. Now the forces have been massed and are unable to impose order. It seems that this is the story to the exclusion of everything else. How about some other questions:

Of the 250,000 ‘trained’ Iraqi troops, why are they unable to muster the 5,000 requested by the US in Baghdad? Is it because they are taking the training and equipment provided to them to protect their clans instead of the country?

If control cannot be maintained in the small city of Baghdad with 100,000 plus US troops with whatever portion of the 250,000 Iraqi troops are located there, is there any hope for control in the rural areas?

Why have we spent 4 times the amount we spent on the Marshall Plan in Iraq with no effect? Why does Iraq need to import oil when they own the 3rd largest reserve in the world? If they want security, why can’t they hire Blackwater Consulting with oil futures? If they don’t want security, why are we giving it to them?

You've got to admire Bush’s stubbornness, but the reality on the ground needs to be acknowledged. Lets hope its electioneering.

It seems pretty obvious that what the creation of Islam accomplished from an ethical/moral POV was to set in stone for eternity (in the Koran) the already extant 7th century Arab propensity for warfare and REVENGE. Muhammad's entire early history (after the migration to Medina and up to the conquest of Mecca) seems to be largely a story of revenge. Theoretically, the point of dar al-Islam vs. dar al-harb should be to turn that Arab tribal instinct for warfare and revenge outwards. But the opportunity to turn it outwards isn't always there, in which case, it apparently just reverts back to its original form - namely, Arabs killing Arabs, which, rather ironically, is where the whole story started in the first place, before the birth of Islam. I am reminded of those old cigarette ads (Virginia Slims I believe), "You've come a long way baby!" Only in this case...NOT!

I'm apparently older that all of you. I saw James Dean with Elvis and Ole Ben Laden. They were talking to Rudolph Valentino.

The resort to violence will increase around the violent because of brutal ideological hatred perpetrated against those who want to live in pace by those who want to control the world through perpetual war and blood-shed.

Arabs are murdering inncocent Israelis everyday. Sunnis are killing shias, Punjabis are murdering balochis and sindhis.

In the name of religion, the most perverse acts of killing women and children are being undertaken.

This must end.

I thought the Qur'an was explicit in commanding the umman to wait "until the sacred months have passed" before going on their violent rampages. Oh well, who am I to tell the seething loonies when they can commit senseless violence? It's their culture.

Valentino ain't that where we get them cards in February?

Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald have it wrong: Islam is not the real enemy. The real enemy are the multiculturalists running the West into extinction. They are responsible for encouraging massive immigration from Islamic countries and other 3rd world hellholes, for brainwashing the populace into thinking that Islam is just as good as Christianity, for making nationalism a sin, etc. etc. etc.

Focusing on Islam allows the real culprits to get away with their crimes. Islam is just one of the poisonous snakes these people have brought into our home. The Islamic snake bit the baby--but can you blame the snake for being a snake? No. Blame the fiend who brought it in.

Also,Apes and Pigs don't kill because you don't believe as they do.Ole mo kills to kill, and claims he has a right. F*^k mo,death to allah pig s$#T in his beard.

Caroline-

In his Study of History Toynbee makes the point that civilizations in decline are not flexible in their response to challenges faced, and rather than producing a Creative Minority with new ideas, it produces only a Dominant Minority that attempts to force the culture to return to an earlier "Golden Age". Islam seems to be in the state of petrification-inflexibility, violence and abandonment of reason that Toynbee sees as symptoms of a collapsing culture.

Our challenge will be to stand firm on the facts on the use of reason, not back-down re the Enlightenment, and demand that Muslims respect the rights of unbelievers to say "no" to their belief system which mandates (via the Koran) violence against unbelievers.

Some of Toynbee's ideas are here-

Ramadan, prayers 5X a day,.....etc. No wonder these idiots can't get anything done.

Maybe the Western world enjoys some peace while the Moslems are killing each other during Ramadan. I think that we should help them with other celebrations too!

It appears to me that in the 20th century two great attacks against the Enlightenment occurred via the Nazis and the USSR. This confrontation with Islam appears to be the third attack on the Enlightenment. Our challenge is to contain this attack and not appease Islam any more than Churchill and others were willing to appease Hitler and the Nazis or the USSR. The Enlightenment's hope of unlimited use of logic-reason, the concept of individual rights and responsibility, and the separation of religion from the state, are under attack by an Islamic culture that is looking back to a mythical golden age.

Frank: "...civilizations in decline are not flexible in their response to challenges faced, and rather than producing a Creative Minority with new ideas, it produces only a Dominant Minority that attempts to force the culture to return to an earlier "Golden Age"...

Actually, I believe the term Islamic "revival" has been widely used to characterize what is currently going on with Islam. And seeing as how "reviving" is something one generally attempts with the near dead, I think it entirely possible that both you (and Toynbee) have a point! Unfortunately, as bloody as Islam has always been, it's entirely likely to get even bloodier in its death throes. On the plus side, there's something to be said, I suppose, for being an eye-witness to major historical events...umm.. I think.

Sing to the tune of "Que Sera, Sera":

Inshallah, Talah
Whatever explodes, explodes,
Our culture's not ours to blame,
Inshallah, Talah.

remote_control, What the hell is that?

remote_control, What the hell is that?

I think it's revised lyrics to an old Doris Day song:

http://www.lyriczz.com/lyriczz.php?songid=12960

If remote is really adventurous, he and americaningermany (who recently penned new lyrics to Lennon's "Imagine") could attempt a duet.

Caroline, I hear you. The bit about explodes, explodes caught my eye. Also the piece " Our cultures not to blame " frosted it up for me. Doris Day would not be happy.

Caroline, Yes, a duet is in order. I await that with glee. Night All, my dreams and prayers be with you.

News flash: Allah appeared at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and said the following: "My brothers,I have come to tell you that you are making a dreadful mistake in attacking all non Muslims......"

Allah's speech was then cut short by a hail of gunfire. At least six organizations have claimed credit for killing "this blaspheming pig" who would utter such a filthy lie".

Just another example of Islam's relentless bloodlust.

fox1: "Doris Day would not be happy."

I suppose on a bad hair day she might not mind the burkha (that was a joke). But one thing's for sure. She wouldn't put up with the shabby treatment of animals, especially the dog hatred. I wonder when a whole lot of folks on the left are gonna figure that one out. The whole animal rights angle to all of this.

Islam is a warrior religion.
Fastin is a part of jihad:

“Education for fasting has not been limited to preparing Muslims for battle and imbuing them with the meaning of soldiering, but also included waging a number of honorable battles during the month of Ramadan - to the point where this month came to be called ‘The Month of Jihad.’ The nation of Islam came to be called ‘the Jihad-fighting nation,’ and its moral values came to be called ‘the values of warfare’…”

“Fasting is closely connected to Jihad in two aspects: First, determination and steadfastness until The Hour [Judgment Day]. Fasting is a continuous commandment, until Judgment Day? and the same is true for Jihad, because Muslim society needs it to defend [its] faith, honor, and homeland? The nation’s fasting is [itself] education for Jihad, and as long as the nation fasts it will continue to be a Jihad fighter.”

“Second, fasting and Jihad are connected [to each other] in body, spirit, and soul. To this end, Allah has set some Jihad battles for the month of fasting in order to gather together the army of Allah"

The article goes on to list the battles fought by muslims during Ramadan, quite a long one.

george_rem:

Allow me to disagree partially with you, Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald don't have it wrong: Islam is the real enemy.
The multiculturalists are just playing in the hands of Islam. Like you rightly say, they have allowed poisonus snakes to invade our homes.
Perhaps the worst activity of the multiculturalists is the lulling of the minds while the Muslims while Muslims take positions in the West, from which later they can wage a war against us.
This is not a cultural, but a military situation.

That's what I have been saying for years. The real enemy is, as it's almost always the case, the enemy within. It is the army of West and Christianity haters, hopeless fools, loony utopians, rootless and cynical opportunists and nihilists that see in Islam the means to destroy the old order. Blinded by their boundless arrogance and fanatical belief in their "historical mission" they cannot see that they themselves are the means Islam uses in its quest of eradicating the West - the means that Islam will destroy after it outlives its usefulness.
To stop and reverse Islam's conquest of the West we only need to expose the agenda of Church of Holy Quislings and destroy the apparatus of control over our society which they have stolen and monopolized over the past decades.
The longer we wait with wiping out that despicable club of judases the harder and bloodier will the task be. God help us!

Fat Boy Al Sadr ought to have been 'taken out'at beginning of Iraq Invasion. He is an extremely dangerous, power hungry THUG of the worst kind.
Don't doubt for a moment, his fanatical supporters have been responsible for some of the worst Death Squads operating in Bagdad.
So today lots of poor, wretched women & their kids are exploded, maimed or badly burnt by a Sunni Suicide Bomber in the 'HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN.' I despair of anything good coming out of Iraq. All the billions poured into the Country have disappeared into a black Hole of Corruption.
All the lives lost, pain, grief and enough suffering to make Angels weep[if you believe in them]-for what!! Tell me what improvement has it made to Iraq...Apart from putting Saddam Hussein on trial.Average Iraqi considers he/she was better off under that Secular Monster-at least the electricity worked.

ALLAHUAKBAR 3X!!!!!

everytime they attack each others, the more they show the "RELIGION OF PEACE".

You bet. The Chinese "may you live in interesting times" is considered a curse. I see the current crisis as a third major attack on the 18th century Enlightenment in the past 75 years. Voltaire must be following events from the next world with a keen eye.

I have a friend who once said to me that he found it ironic that the moon showed a human face. He said: "Why not a horse? Why not a dog? No-it's got to be the human face of a guy with a sardonic smile-like he's saying: 'You poor dumb bastards'.
The man in the moon's expression does seem to fit our situation on earth.
