Aiding the jihad in another way. "Federal agents raid Muslim charity in Southfield," from the Detroit Free Press, with thanks to the indomitable Debbie Schlussel, who gives important background here:
Federal counterterrorism agents raided a Muslim charity in Southfield on Monday morning, according to the FBI.Agents with the FBI and Joint Terrorism Task Force executed search warrants at the headquarters for Life for Relief and Development, a Southfield-based charity that works in Arab and Muslim countries around the world....
At about 9 a.m., agents raided the Southfield office, hauling away documents, letters and ledgers, said Dawud Walid, head of the Michigan branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations. Agents told officials with the charity that the raid was related to some sort of criminal activity, Walid said.
The charity has worked in Iraq, Pakistan and the Palestinian territories, among other countries. According to its Web site, the charity “has provided over $50 million in humanitarian assistance to more than 13 million beneficiaries worldwide.”
Mmmhmmm. I wonder how many more "charities" are out there that needs busting?
Lets hope CAIR is next.
Root out the 5th column now!
$50 Mil to 13 Mil people, means on average less than $4 per person. That is not going to buy you more than two meals a day even in Pakiland. It doesn't sound at all charitable to me. Who counts 13 Mil people? If the figures are from Muslims, they are highly suspicious. These Charity guys are most likely funding some future 9/11 plans.
more to come....i hope.
seems like Michigan is a hot-bed of muslum charities.....homeland security please keep a watchful eye .
Local media in Detroit is reporting that the FBI also executed search warrants in Dearborn and in Ypsilanti. WXYZ tv also interviewed someone associated with the charity (I think he was a lawyer) who intimated that this was in regard to a tax issue.
muslim charity equals bombs belts for non muslims.
Over the years I have often asked myself, "Can Michigan get any worse? Can it sink any lower?"
Ghettos, violence, illegitimate children, the U. of Michigan, ridiculous politicians, Michigan State, welfare queens, unemployment, Marxists, the great Marxist agitpropagandist and known liar Michael Moore, the incompetent management of the Big Three. the list is formidable.
But they have done it. Word has it they tasked the Admissions Committee of the U. of Michigan Law School to devise a way to make Michigan worse. The good Committee contacted the INS, and the state embarked on a sustained Islamicization program.
Voila.
Alarmed Pig Farmer, I have wondered the same thing about Minnesota. Can it get any worse? Well, yes it can. Minnesota now has a Democratic Party candidate from the 5th District~Mr. Keith Ellison who won the Democratic primary. He is a 'moderate' Muslim with ties to Louis Farrakhan, support from Nihad Awad, as well as a campaign contribution from CAIR. Besides all this, Mr. Ellison has trouble remembering to pay property taxes, traffic and parking tickets.
The State of Minnesota is in a position to elect the first Moslem to Congress. The DFL Party here is willing to overlook Mr. Ellison's civil shortcommings, nevermind his connections to questionable individuals and groups.
It seems that Minnesota Multi-culturalism has spread to quarters in DC. Says John Green, a senior fellow at the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life "Because CAIR supports Ellison, then there's somehow a tie to terrorists.' That involves taking several steps for which there is probably no evidence."
Can it get any worse? Will it? Ya, You Betcha!

No doubt all sorts of people will be falling all over themselves in support of the "first Muslim member of Congress" without asking themselves whether or not this would inhibit discussion in committees, whether it would inhibit proposals made by Democrats who might, conceivably, be waking up to the permanent problem of the belief-system of Islam, whether it will allow organized Islam to present a plausible, smiling, friendly face that will serve as the kind of one-off anecdotal evidence that should not be allowed to, but so often does, get in the way of a sober analysis of that totalitarian belief-system, offering a Complete Regulation of Life, and Total Explanation of the Universe, and above all, the uncompromising division between Believer and Infidel, known as Islam. Ellison may not know fully the contents of Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira. But surely he knows enough so that he should be held to such knowledge, and he should be asked -- no one should shy away from asking -- what he makes of 9.5 and 9.29, and what he makes of the Shari'a, and what he makes of the refusal of Muslim states to sign the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and what he makes of the hysterical attacks on all those, including the Pope, who dare to say things that are not flattering to Islam, and what he makes of the Danish cartoons murder threats, and what he makes of the figure of Muhammad, and of little Aisha, and Asma bint Marwan, and the Khaybar oasis attack, and whether he agrees with other Believers that Muhamamd is indeed the Perfect Man, the man to be emulated, uswa hasana, al-insan al-kamil.
It would be ridiculous not to ask him questions about this, and to expect answers that satisfy, and are not merely taqiyya and tu-quoque. The days when that sort of thing could be tolerated are now over. Or should be.
Usually when there is a problem with a Western charity it is pretty straightforward. A lot of charities are just inefficient--that is, there is a lot of over-head, administration and bureaocracy. A number of well-known charities have CEOs who are rather too well compensated (Reader's Digest had an expose about this just recently).
Less commonly, the problem is more egregious--employees of the charity writing off vacations and personal purchases as charity expenses.
In a very few cases, the charity is simply bogus--this especially tends to happen in the wake of disasters such as 9/11 or Katrina, where many people are eager to give and may not research the charity too closely ahead of time.
All of this is disgusting, of course, but usually boils down to either ineptitude or greed. I have never heard of any Western charity funelling money to terrorism.
This is telling:
Immediately after the Israel-Hizb'allah war, there were (of course) many accusations of Hizb'allah being funded in large part by Iran. One member of Hizb'allah bristled at this when asked by a reporter about funding. He angrilly denied that a significant amount of the money came from Iran, instead claiming that most of it came from from local Muslims making Zakat (that is, Islamic charity). He didn't seem to realize that most non-Muslims would be more horrified that giving money to Hizb'allah is considered by many Muslims to be a legitimate kind of "charity".
Hugh, since I have come to this site, I have appreciated your comments as being rational and educational. I am a new student of the Islamic world after seeing Mr. Spencer on C-Span, and an old student of destructive cults.
Your questions for the candidate really cut to the chase as far as his representing all of his constituancy vs. a narrow special interest. In view of taqiyya, as well as his past ethical lapses, I am not to hopeful of a straight up answer.
Thanks for providing food for thought, now I'm off to further investigate some of the issues and people you have mentioned. I was raised close enough to Missouri to expect Show Me from anyone asking for my vote.
My question is, when a Muslim does get into Congress (which sadly, will not surprise me), what does he put his hand on when he is sworn in?
