Mum's the Word, Lest We Provoke a Lethal Tantrum

James Lileks nails it (thanks to Doc Washburn for the link).

If you mock Islam with a drawing or a novel, you get riots and dead people. News of mishandled holy books yields riots and dead people. Insufficiently reverent short films by a Dutchman yields a dead person, specifically the Dutchman.

Now we add this detail: Quoting medieval religious colloquies is a reasonable justification for burning churches, shooting a nun and holding up signs demanding that the pope convert to Islam or saw off his own head. (There have been reports of carpal tunnel syndrome among radical Islam's enforcers, and they have requested we all help out.)

This is a new twist: Now history itself cannot be discussed. Since it's difficult to predict what else will enflame the devout, Islam has to be treated with unusual deference, like a 3-year-old child with anger management problems.

But it's not what we say that truly offends. It's what we are. The West's lack of interest in joining the Ummah is an affront in itself, and we broadcast our sins in High Infidelity. If you believed that the West's apostasy was an affront to God, you'd spend your leisure hours torching straw popes too.

Progressives at home and abroad seem oddly unconcerned. "Islamophobia," after all, is just a product of the BushCo junta's relentless fearmongering, and Benedict is the Nazi pope who personally swipes the condoms from people's bedroom drawers.

But it's an inconvenient truth, to coin a phrase, when the ranters show up with vibrating uvulas demanding the pope's assassination. (Would they be satisfied with a docudrama version? It would go over big at Cannes.)

Read it all. Read it again. Pass it around.

My,my this spills over into dhimmiland also it seems. Just today a woman I work with how frequents a message board where home shopping networks are discussed by posters ( they most crtiticize and make fun of the hosts and goods) was banned for a comment she made. The conversation was about jewlery that was being promoted, it was all done in silver with a crecsent moon being teh design on all the pieces. My coworker posted a comment stating the crescent moon was sign of Islam and she said no thanks to that line of jewlery. She was banned from the site for "religious intolerance".

Maybe us Christians are too reasonable? Just in case, where does one get one of those straw popes? Next to the pumpkin patch?

Assalamu Alaikum?

The Beast of Revalation DEMANDS WORSHIP!

A book by Bruce Bawer, "While Europe Slept", is a more in-depth look at the mindset that we are contending with. Instead of the west responding with one voice to the Islamofascists, we are neutered by the Kumbaya chorus out of the EU and the UN. How do these institutions affect US citizens. The Liberal Elite thirst for approval from the members of these two organizations.

I am utterly amazed at the lack of understanding the Lefties have of the Islamists. They seem to be willfully blind. Wakie, Wakie! The Islamofascists are using you and your moral equivalence doctrine to further entrench themselves in western culture. If you keep expecting the Islamists to stop their hate and voice their love and admiration for liberal democracy and personal liberty, you are deceiving yourselves. OPEN YOUR EYES!

This is not hysteria. This is reality. They see us as the demons. Not just conservatives. EVERY non-islamist is a demon. It is not a religion of peace. It never, EVER, has been. Read your history. Read about the Jews and Christians and their treatment in these societies both today and over the centuries.

Look up the terms: dhimmi, jizyah, and taqiyya. Learn. The average Muslim on the streets of Europe believes that the Quran is supreme over the laws of Europe. Research what honor killings are. Research the practice of vaginal mutilation. These people are absolutely devout (insane).

To claim moral equivalence between Christians and Muslims is absurd. Do you see Christians en masse screaming for blood? Christians demanding death? The truthful answer is no. Madonna is going to desecrate the cruxifiction of Christ in an upcoming event. Christians around the world will be disgusted. But, Christians around the world will not declare a Fatwah on Madonna. It won't happen. Ever!

Same thing when dealing with mental patients. In a lot of ways muslims are like the mentally disturbed... except they aren't locked away in mental hospitals...

And like mental patients they're told that they're "special"....

I can't help but wonder , when is the America that has kept almost every country on this earth from entering the land of not around anymore , and one of the very few places on that earth the stands up for right , no matter who it is that is right , going to stand up , draw a line in the dirt and tell the little piss ant would be dictators of the world and the terrorist they support --to kiss our collective ugly American rear ends - and then show them why we are the greatest country that God ever allowed to be on this earth by kicking their *** once and for all --

Same thing when dealing with mental patients. In a lot of ways muslims are like the mentally disturbed... except they aren't locked away in mental hospitals...

I couldn't resist.. :-)

They are wearing the outfits already!

Robert please remove seven star's post. He posted exactly the same thing a few days ago and as fedup noted this little troll posts then runs.

Seven FOAD.

Seven Star sounds a LOT like nariz.

"If you say Islam isn't always a religion of peace, the Islamicists will kill you. This doesn't make them hypocrites, of course. The grave is a very peaceful place."

HA HA Nice one. Now I understand where the peace is in Islam.

Regarding Islam, the West is mainly suffering from carpal tunnel vision.

We should seriously work on non-flammable fibre threads for the next generation of flags...
That would leave them dumb and probably with burned fingers after pouring all the gas onto those darned things, and not getting them to burn...

jsla~ Was that a pun? The Carp being the fish associated with the Church and all... ;)

" Islam has to be treated with unusual deference, like a 3-year-old child with anger management problems."

Ah. Three year olds with anger issues in my house have always been invited to stay in their rooms until they can stop screaming, stop biting and be polite to their brothers. Hmm, sounds like what's needed here as well: an early bedtime, and only bacon for supper. I'm just saying.

Hm'n, stay MUM or you'll end up a DEAD MUMMY...

Of course the Liberals won't condemn the tantrums and lethal rages of Islam. They can't even control their own children. How many times have you seen Liberals and their children in public, inflicting their screaming tantrum rages on everyone around them while Mom (and sometimes Dad if there is a Dad around) just murmurs "Use your inside voice" or "I know you don't like it but we need to discuss this"?

As for Seven Star Hand, just ignore her/him. I bet everyone leaves the room when he starts babbling in real life. We need to do that here.

"We should seriously work on non-flammable fibre threads for the next generation of flags...
That would leave them dumb and probably with burned fingers after pouring all the gas onto those darned things, and not getting them to burn..."

Good idea, but the Islamic Flag Burners make their own. I saw a video of a flag burning in some in some nondescript ME town. The US flag was pink and sky blue with about seven or eight stars and five or six red and white stripes. Not even close. It looked more like a Liberian flag. A majic marker flag is not a real US flag only an interpretation of a US flag.

I've been a big fan of James R. Lileks since he wrote for the school paper at the U. of MN. When Midwestern satirists start taking on radical Islam as the topic of the day, it is no longer a fringe topic. The message is getting out.

Islam is becoming a more and more obvious target for comedians. Since comedy is usually based on taboo subjects that cannot be addressed directly in polite company (like death, sex, scatology, racism, etc.), the lunacy of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding Islam is a perfect match.

Tunisia: Muslims Ban French Newspaper For Questioning Islamic Intimidation

Today, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur via The Raw Story and also from Reporters Without Borders (RSF) news comes that the French right-leaning newspaper Le Figaro has been banned in Tunisia. The reason for the ban is an article by French philosopher Robert Redeker (pictured), entitled: "Face aux intimidations islamistes, que doit faire le monde libre?" or "What should the free world do in the face of Islamist intimidation?".

http://www.westernresistance.com/

Then follows a translation from the French of the article that was banned. It is worth readinm.

My coworker posted a comment stating the crescent moon was sign of Islam and she said no thanks to that line of jewlery. She was banned from the site for "religious intolerance".

One POSITIVE:

She TOLD **YOU** about it. You are an authority figure for her where pigslam[pig feces be upon it] is concerned. She may.. will.. spread the word if you handle her right.

Then SHE will be that authority for the next person. THIS is how we WIN.. steadfast and one by one at a time.

WE **MUST** win the hearts and minds of ONLY OUR co-citizens in the WESTERN COUNTRIES!! If we can do that and get a large majority together then the politicians will have to do as WE COMMAND! The media will have to report FAIRLY or be bankrupt. And so on...

Imagine there's no pigslam
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no jihad
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no mo momo too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no mo momo
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

John Lennon ALMOST got it right. I took it upon myself to help him update things a little. Call it a "lyrical remix". see above post. I hope some of you will enjoy. I have ideas for a few more if there's no complaints I do.

re Seven Star Hand: This person is probably confined to a rubber room somewhere and (somehow) got access to an unsuspecting therapist's PC.

We expect his postings to vanish from this blog as suddenly as they showed up. (Believe us, the men in the white suits are coming for this dude).

There is another curious insight to be gained from the Pope's historical lecture. Then as now, the explosive expansion of Islam was always the 'witness' to the truth of Islam

i.e. we're strong and we win because we're right and you lose because you're wrong.

As long as we allow them to expand, bully, and conquer (and since the early 1970's they have)even the'peaceful' Muslims will find it an exhilirating affirmation.

The Islamic world has gotten hooked on 'Islamic power' the crack cocaine of Jihad.

Obviously obviously obviously, we know the reason why Islamo-Nazis hate criticism of their stupid religion is that it doesn't stand up to historical, theological or any other type of analysis. It is a ‘blind faith’ only club. No learning involved, no effort, no working out any complex theological arguments. You just get promised 70 virgins and hey presto, you see the light. It’s easier than feeding a starving dog a biscuit. SO WHY ARE WE SO SURPRISED ABOUT THE POPE BUSINESS? DON'T WE KNOW THAT TO BE A LIBERAL IS TO BE STUPID?

I'm one of those annoying people who keep getting fundamentalist Christians' knickers in a knot by pointing out certain glaring similarities between radical Islamists and SOME elements of the so-called Religious Right in the U.S. Well, hold on to those knickers, because I'm about to do it again...and if the ugly shoe fits, wear it.

Biblical literalist, Rapture and End-of-Days-believing Christians - those who seriously and exclusively base their faith on such garbage as the Scofield Reference Bible, Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth", the "Left Behind" series of hate-based religious propaganda masquerading as fiction, and pretty much anything Pat Robertson ever wrote - are part of the problem, not part of the solution. They are not the people to entrust with the battle against Muslim religious extremism, because they are religious extremists themselves. Religious extremism has never provided a rational, workable solution to any problem in the here and now, because its energies are exclusively focused upon some longed-for future time in which the world - which is necessarily seen as largely corrupt and overtaken by sin - is cleansed of all evil. "Evil", of course, includes all those people who do not believe in their own particular twisted version of Christianity, which includes most Christians, Jews, Muslims (needless to say), Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, agnostics, atheists, you name it... basically 99 percent of all humanity wiped off the face of the Earth. That's the dream of these people, and the fact that most of them are content to use peaceful (eg. trying to convert people to their way of thinking so they can join the select few who are spared) rather than violent means to work toward this ultimate goal doesn't make this goal any less horrific. It creates a mindset that hates humanity, hates life, and hates the world. And yes, they have spawned and continue to spawn their own violent and dangerous extremists. The fringe-of-the-fringe are the Christian equivalent of the radical Islamists. Remember Timothy McVeigh, anyone? He called himself a Christian. The militia groups he hung out with all identified themselves as Christian. All the people who have stalked, terrorized, shot, and killed doctors who perform abortions call themselves Christian. All the people who have bombed abortion clinics call themselves Christian. Virtually all White Supremecist groups self-identify as Christian. Hello....burning cross? So don't give me this crap about how Christians are not violent, or that those people are not "real" Christians. As far as they are concerned, they are, and there is plenty in the Bible for them to use to justify their actions, and they do use it. And the violence celebrated in the Bible is not just violence in self-defense; it's also just pure revenge. How about the end of that lovely Psalm that begins "By the rivers of Babylon..." The end of the Psalm reads, "Happy is he, that dashes the heads of thy little ones against a rock." A justification of the mass slaughter of your enemies' children. How do you explain that? And you must be prepared to explain that, when you set up this Christianity Good / Islam Bad dichotomy, and argue at the same time that to be a true Christian one must read everything in the Bible uncritically.

This is why, much as it pains me to agree with anything George Bush says, he was absolutely right in saying that this battle is not about Christianity vs. Islam. The world does not need one brand of religious fanaticism shoved down its collective throat in order to stand up to another brand of religious fanaticism.

And yes, I know that most fanatical Christians will not kill me for being rude to them, and I appreciate that very much, but the mere fact that they do not kill people for disagreeing with them does not make them right.

I am not sure if this is covered in another post but I wanted to add it here since it relates to Islam. We can not win this war by referring to individual Muslims or groups of Muslims in a derogatory manner though the actions of some Muslims defintely deserve it and should be brought into public forum for discussion as textbook Islamism.

I think it best to refer to Islam theology. The difference being obvious: there are law abiding Muslims living amongst us (too many but i digress) and the moment we speak against an individual Muslim, you'll have 10 liberals swooping upon you like avenging angels telling you their neighbour is a Mo or their coworker is a Mo and they are just wonderful people. However, it is much harder, nay impossible, for them to defend Islamic ideology (The hate filled, intolerant contents of the Hadith for example). When we attack an idea, we rise above pettiness into the stratosphere of intellectualism where the liberals pretend to be. I am not trying to say we are petty here, far from it, but obviously our best efforts to try and stop Islam should be concentrated on education, awareness and legislation. I try to refer one person a day to this site and refuting main stream media assertions about "terrorism." Most importantly though, I am constantly writing my member of parliament. I truly believe that Islam is in contravention of our Canadian Constitution and our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and our newly minted hate crime laws. In this case, Islam is HATE SPEECH. I have written the federal dept of justice and am pending a response to a request for a full investigation (not holding my breath mind you).

One last thing, Western soldiers have no business entering an Islamic Republic unless it is to kill or capture. Once we're finished, we must leave. Installing a "democratic" government and letting a Mo stuff a ballot box does not make the Mo free and less likely to kill. Also, why are we installing Sharia? Isn't the idea to move them away from Islam towards civilization? Isn't this just a new band aid on an old wound? And seeing all of those soldiers giving out candy, fixing cavities and scraped knees is pathetic PR work. Are the policy writers so stupid to believe that a 10 yeard old Islamic boy is going to choose candy and oral hygiene over 72 virgins??? God Bless the troops but how the hell can they succeed with this type of mandate???

Remember Timothy McVeigh, anyone? He called himself a Christian.

No. He didn't.

Read Jayna Davis book "The Third Terrorist".
http://www.jaynadavis.com/bio.html
She makes a compelling argument that an Iraqi/Al-Qaeda hit squad, operating under Iranian state sponsorship, trained and funded McVeigh. She is not some crackpot. She is a trained investigative reporter with many credits and awards. McVeigh never claimed to be a Christian.
But let's all not say anything, especially anything true, that might upset the poor little muslims and make them crazier than they already are.

Meanwhile, back in the UK, it is the usual rhetoric. Ought Jews to riot, too?

angloirishslav,
Look up this word, tuquoque
you are using this ruse right now.
http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/tuquoque

McVeigh (who is used ((very tiringly I might add)) by all muslims who troll this site) was an avowed agnostic.

Quick, now name 3 Christian terrorists who bombed a building in the last 3 years. Suicide bombs?

Asswipe.

Mum's the word.

Islam, the very idea and practice of it, is so totally outrageous that it is unthinkable. Therefore, without thinking, we self-censor ourselves on the unthinkability of Islam, per the 6th Pillar of Islam, and thereby let the Moslems impose themselves on us.

* 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 ** 33:21 *

Politesse as the boulevard to self-destruction. Who woulda thunk it.

I've said it before and I repeat it now: If you can't disrepect Islam, then what can you disrespect?

This is the key question to our survival.

OT but **FUN**!!

thanks for that link. I have heard stuff like this before. Witnesses have said there was a van of Middle eastern-looking men there.
I wasn't a bit surprised!

Rosie , is that you?

Whether McVeigh was a Christian or not is not relevant. His motives are what is relevant. You will not find justification for murder in the Bible. Besides, McVeigh's was angry with the US government. Islam is angry and at war with the non muslim world.

There are Christian terrorists. Think of snipers who shoot abortion doctors or Christians who blow up planned parenthood clinics. They are a rarity but do exist. However, again, murder is not condoned in the Bible or in any Church I know of.

The same case can NOT ever be made of Islam. End of story

Trick for the liberal

Trick for the conservative.

Stay on the topic of jihad. Don't spend so much time trying to tell liberals what they think or believe. Leave partisan politics to the other discussion boards, there are plenty.

It's a tricky trick, I know, but please give it a try.

While the left may make immediate equivalence between Islamic radicals and right-wing Christians (and Jews), which I find ridiculous, there is a potential problem. Many of the criticisms of the West by Islamists are also held by people of faith in this country: abortion, alcohol/drug abuse, pornography, high divorce rate, high rate of out of wedlock pregnancy, to name a few. There is the potential that over time, a mere century or two, communities of Westerners who are offended and frustrated by these problems may be seduced by the strict code of Islamic behavior and join the ummah. We can see small examples of this already happenening in our inner cities. An articulate and honest case supportive of Western civilization must be developed and presented by our intellectual and political leadership to the Islamic world. If this is fundamentally a war of ideas then we need new and better weapons.

This guy summed things up very well.

As a paleo-liberal I constantly tell all my pseudo-liberal friends that things are far worse than they imagine, but hardly in the ways they think. They're part of a giant majority of extremists who've hijacked the label "liberal" and made it a dirty word. Now they're hiring squads of full figured menopausal Lesbians as Prevention of Vice and Promotion of Virtue police (gals like Rosie and Garofolo and Cindy) to make the rounds to promote 'the DOGMA'...)

Anyway, we're living in weird times. Pseudo-liberals (proto-fascists) are counterbalanced by pseudo-conservatives (neo-liberals) who would make Woodrow Wilson wince with their titanic boondoggles, not least of which is Iraq. Now I completely supported Chapter 1 of Iraq2, and happily would have ended it with "Mission Accomplished" (except for a couple pesky little strands...) We'd suffered 440 US combat deaths at that point, far too much US blood to sacrifice in an Arab sewer. When we needed a Patton we sent Mr. Smith goes to Washington -- all 'Shucks! Let's build you a school!' and 'here's a bunch of candy kid -- NOW will they like us???'

Whatever happened to cramming 40 or 50 cruise missiles up Saddam's ass? Whatever happened to Biblical Slaughter, the Coin of the Realm of Islam and Arabdom? THAT would have given the Mullahs pause...

But I digress -- He summed things up perfectly in this piece -- Muslim agents, exploiting our diseases of multiculturalism & political correctness are gathering momentum to harm our dominions with the aid of foolish and misguided abettors both from the Right and with many more on the Left.

Neither side seems the slightest bit interested in learning about Islam.

And we in the West, the inheritors of the greatest human legacies of all time, are pliantly accommodating our enemies as we walk to the gallows which they have prepared for us...

"The grave is a very peaceful place."

Unless your a Jew and your grave keeps getting vandalized by idiots painting swastikas and other such filth on it.

OOOOOOOooooops!
I just realised someone was referring to Rosie O'Donnell.
Sorry folks. This Aussie is not that au fait with all the US chat shows:)))

I'm liberal, gay, Anglican Christian and slightly left of centre in my politics. I'm also here, agreeing with Robert, anti-jihad and extremely worried about the future for our liberal, secular democracies unless they face up to the reality of islamic supremacist beliefs and actions.

I agree with special_guest (above). I would go further - the constant carping criticism of liberal and leftist people does nothing to help them come and join us. The right-wing does not have a monopoly on the truth in the matter of jihad. The right-wing may have woken up to the threat earlier than the left-wing of politics, but the threat is directed against both and the centre also.

The ding-dong battles between left and right on the floor of the House of Commons or The Lords, or in the US Senate or the US House of Representatives, simply doesn't apply here. We have to convince everybody to come and join us and to see things from our perspective. Right or left, up or down, front or back, who cares? We are all in this fight together and we should welcome all those, no matter what their political hue, who see the threat of islam in the same way that we do.

This is a unique situation. The old rules don't apply. Please, please stop trying to turn this site into a right-wing political forum or a let's-score-political-points-off-the-lefties forum. This is a jihadwatch forum and a dhimmiwatch forum and in as much as those two things represent a threat to everything which we hold dear (even from opposite ends of the political spectrum, believe it or not, we all still hold them dear) it is also an anti-jihad and anti-dhimmi forum.

Right-wing supremacism, or, for that matter, left-wing supremacism, surely have no place here. The battle is against islam - not against each other. If we are divided then they will conquer.

Dominic.

Please excuse the off topic comment.

She makes a compelling argument that an Iraqi/Al-Qaeda hit squad, operating under Iranian state sponsorship, trained and funded McVeigh.

Every time the "McVeigh was a Christian terrorist" claims are made, I remember the following:

McVeigh's partner, Terry Nichols, allegedly met with Ramzi Yousef at an Abu Sayyaf jihadist camp in the Philippines (scroll down to "April 19, 1995"). He travelled to the Philippines many times, and his phone log records many calls to the Philippines, including to people with known jihadist ties.

Here is a link to a story that explains how McVeigh lived a few miles from Jose Padilla in Florida.

The link between OKC and jihad is unproven, but interesting.

from above:

...holding up signs demanding that the pope convert to Islam or saw off his own head.
..................

Saw off his *own* head? Did I read that right? Geez, these guys really are lazy!

We here alot from the Muslim/Islamic community that they do not believe the same way as Al Quieda, the old saying put your money where your mouth is will be the only way for the muslim and islamic people to prove that they are seperate from al queida and therefore can be trusted. They need to publicly stand against al quieda with there money and there army, otherwise they will fall under the cloak of miss trust and negativity.

As for chavez, he is the devil and a fool for thiking that he can defeat a country and leader that believes in the only living God. He needs to die right along side of his buddy castro and the irainian pres. They are dead men walking because there souls are Godless!

Timothy McVeigh's actions are not in an any way justified by the Bible--in fact quite the opposite, they are explicitly OUTLAWED BY THE BIBLE!!

The Biblical commandment "THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT MURDER" pretty much eliminates any Christian justification for this man's ghastly deeds.

Has anyone here read a book by Jayna Davis titled "THE THIRD TERRORIST" ? If not I would recommend people who tune into Jihad Watch read it, as it makes a pretty convincing case that Nichols was converting to Islam and had help in this act of mass murder from none other than Ousamah bin Laden and al-Qaeda. (Hint: the third terrorist in the title of Miss Davis' book has been identified as an al-Qaeda operative).

Christianity had nothing whatsover to do with the terror attack on the Federal Building in Oklahoma City!

As this conflict moves forward, I keep being reminded of a local football game many moons ago.

Before the game, there was a group of challenged youth who were formed into a marching band. They played for the audience and, despite what any quantitative judge would call a dreadful performance, were given a standing ovation. These young people had succeeded in accomplishing something, we felt good recognizing their accomplishment, and they had a great time as well.

The Western mindset that wants to reward underdogs like the marching band is the same mindset that apologizes for the despicable behavior of Muslims.

We are collectively in the process of shedding our innocence.

No, it's not laziness, quite the opposite. Read the sentence that follows the one you quoted:

(There have been reports of carpal tunnel syndrome among radical Islam's enforcers, and they have requested we all help out.)

They have repeatedly sawed off so many heads, that their tendons have been permanently damaged from the repetitive action of sawing. Apparently they don't have power tools in Decapistan.

angloris... Is missing something:

Atheists, (which he professes to be) are beneath contempt for the Mohammedans, lower than 'polytheists'- in fact considered lower than the 'people of the book'- (Christians & Jews) and therefore will not be given the choice of forced conversion or Dhimmi-status... But like so many of that ilk, the poster dwells in ignorance and sees himself threatened by 'fundamental Christians'...

But here's one poster I fully agree with, McCain2008:

One last thing, Western soldiers have no business entering an Islamic Republic unless it is to kill or capture. Once we're finished, we must leave. Installing a "democratic" government and letting a Mo stuff a ballot box does not make the Mo free and less likely to kill. Also, why are we installing Sharia? Yes indeed: We have no business to waste the lives of 3000 of our best and finest fighting men and waste hundreds of billions of dollars in order to establish Islamic regimes under the Sharia.
This, in my view, is the biggest blunder among many of the Bush administration.
Nobody should support that.

I hasten to add:

The Bush-administration is of course not the only one committing itself to Islamic causes and to proactive and military intervention to establish Islamic nations.

The Clinton administration has helped the Islamic conquest-strategy more than any other in the last 200 years by virtually establishing 3 brand-new Islamic nations: Bosnia, Kosovo and greater Albania, right smack in the middle of Europe!

Yer'Mami,

Man, I totally agree. Bush is proceeding on faith that we can ally ourselves with moderate Muslims if we help them setup democray. I just don't see it happening. Perhaps it's worth a try because the alternatives are so bleak...but when do we decide it won't work?

I've blogged about this here (http://www.clashofcivilizations.net/) but I think the question that the Pope raised is the BIG ONE. Is the god of Islam reasonable and thus opposed to violence?

If he's not than we should we should realize sooner rather than later that democracy building is wasted effort. As is trying to ally with 'moderate' Muslims. ...because they are so marginal as to not be worth talking about.

What's maddening about the Jayna Davis story is that she has had to do all the leg work and investigation on her own, for years, with no help (and even resistance) from the FBI during both the Clinton and Bush Administrations.

Bush should be supporting Jayna Davis, not ignoring her. Yet another grave mistake he has made.

I know SevenStarHand from other boards.
He is a certifiable loon. He profess to be a messiah.
Just google for his name.
Best banned.

I do not see why Timothy McVeigh should be brought up when we are discussing the behaviour and attitude of Jihadists.

We had bombings in Australia but with fewer lives being lost. I can give an example of one situation because I was an "almost" witness to the event. The man was in a car that must have been not very far behind my husband and myself. This event happened in Canberra, when the Canberra Centre was bombed. The man was not a terrorist but he was crazed by his wife's behaviour. Prior to reaching the spot, he had shot at a man who was a pool manager at the Dickson pool. The shot man was sleeping with the other man's separated wife. After the shooting incident, he drove along Northbourne Ave until he reached the Canberra Centre. He then veered to the left at around the same point that I was dropped off at my workplace by my husband. I had enough time to go into the building, and head for the lifts when a man who was behind me, and got into the same lift informed me of what had taken place. The perpetrator had two gas cylinders in the back of his vehicle. He opened the tops of the cylinders to let out the gas, and then he shot into the escaping gas, thus causing the explosion. The target of this bomb was not at work. He had smashed through the shop window of the bus company.

I still have some memories of standing in a building on the opposite side of the road, and watching as a policeman dodged between pillars (with his pistol drawn). There were shots being fired. The fire brigade had been very swift in their response and the TRG also came along to join the party. There were some shots fired. The man shot in the air when he saw some people. Then he shot himself. It was all over.

There are at least two other stories to tell. One of them, the Hilton Hotel bombings has not been solved. I do believe that the Ananda Margah sect was in fact behind that bombing.

There have been bombings in Melbourne. In fact one of my father's customers blew up his wife in a car bomb. However, the more serious type of bombing happened at the head quarters of the police in Russell street.

Of course the bombings that I have outline are not recent events (just as well), but I do recall hearing a bomb going off ;-). It happened a few years ago, and it was a loud noise. I thought it might have been an earth tremor. My son heard it as well. Turned out that a man decided to make a bomb and test it out on a car. He was not a terrorist according to the court system.

Dominic,

I do not agree with your lifestyle. However, it is not my business to know anything about what you do. Even so, when Terri Schiavo was facing a death sentence imposed by a probate judge at the instigation of her adulterous husband, many people in the blogosphere gathered in support of her family. I met some wonderful liberal people amongst those supporters. Certainly, we can come together on serious issues.

I wish that there were more liberals like yourself who are real thinkers, and who at least have some sense of morality. I personally do not see murder-suicide as being moral, or something that will be rewarded by God.

I am a middle of the road Catholic who attends daily Mass. I know quite a number of Opus Dei people (who are nothing like some people paint them),

It is refreshing to dialogue with people like yourself who do have such opposing views to my own on some subjects. It is refreshing to know we are not at each other's throats because of the opposing views. I can be very hard headed, and I do give my opponents a hard time.

"The grave is a very peaceful place."

Not for non Muslims, I think this was reported in only one UK paper.

The coffin of the Spanish Police officer killed when the Madrid train bombers blew themselves up was dug a couple of days after the funeral. It was dumped on the other side of the cemetary. Its assumed they were going to desecrate it further but were suprised and had to leave it.

Carolyn2 said: 'Quick, now name 3 Christian terrorists who bombed a building in the last 3 years. Suicide bombs?'
Carolyn2: Why the last 3 years? If you look back at the troubles in Northern Ireland, there are multiple illustrations of Christian Terrorists. Who are still being prosecuted through the courts right now (the real IRA, Omargh bombing)

A small minority of people posting on this site feel the need to inject their anti-left rhetoric into their comments. Also, posters seem to take delight in describing Europe as already lost and having no courage. All of these comments are utterly wrong, and actually assist our enemies by dividing us.
A more appropriate statement would be to suggest that the radical right, and the radical anti-Jihad movement is marginalised in the US and Europe. If we are to bring about fundamental changes in our relationship with Muslims in the US and Europe (i.e. to deport all Muslims from the US, to ban shahira law etc), the impact on the US Constitution and the European parliamentary system will be significant. As such, this will only be achieved by bringing a significant number of voters with us.
So we have two goals, to educate the public as to the real nature of Islam, and to contribute to a coalition of like minded states and peoples to achieve significant change. The bashers on this site are doing exactly the opposite. If you really want to defeat Radical Islam, you must bring multiple countries with you.

Are there any Christians who consider Timothy McVeigh a hero, angloirishslav? Every religion is compatible with the best and the worst of humankind, but not all religions are the same and underestimating Islam and its founder Mohammad is nothing short of ignorant...

James Lileks is so right. The thing about this cult is that it's locked in a vacuum- these crazies want the whole world to remain in the glorious 7th century for all eternity. I for one am glad I am a descendent of apes and pigs (2 of the smarter animals) rather than being a descendent of jackasses, since these cultists stubbornly refuse to join the 21st century.

"Islam has to be treated with unusual deference, like a 3-year-old child with anger management problems."

Well, 3-year-old children with anger management problems get disciplined - either severe time outs by Mom or a severe spanking from Dad. It's time for Dad to wake up and give islam the spanking it deserves or it will grow up to be a "spoiled rotten, I want it all my way, give me everything, I'm the only one who is right, only my opinion counts, mass murdering, rapist, pedophile adult". And that we CAN NOT allow.

Re: Left bashing from above posts.

I have no problem with Liberals. Liberalism is a philosophy of Peace (PoP). It has been hijacked by a few radical extremists.

I have a problem with that miniscule minority that want to take away our tools for fighting this war, granting constitutional rights and Geneva convention rights to terrorists, etc. only to regain their political power.

/need I?

The IRA terrorism is not comparable to Islamic terrorism, and shouldn't be mentioned by any intelligent person, except as a contrast.

Differences between IRA terrorism and Islamic terrorism:

Islamic terrorism: global

IRA terrorism: extremely localized -- the IRA terrorists kept their violence "in the hood" and for the most part, the furthest afield they wreaked their violence was in London

Islamic terrorism: based in hatred of all non-Muslims, making it a global threat

IRA terrorism: based in specific localized political grievances (with a dash of anti-British hatred)

Islamic terrorism: Imperialistic, with designs on restoring a pan-Islamic Emperor (the Caliph) and conquering the world

IRA terrorism: based on limited political objectives

Islamic terrorism: eschatological, with an eye to transforming the world and making it ready for the Last Days

IRA terrorism: based on limited political objectives

Islamic terrorism: egregiously barbaric, including the beheading of children and shooting children in the back

IRA terrorism: less barbaric by a relevant degree

Islamic terrorism: part of a wider culture of pathological savagery that includes honor killings of women and girls; brutal clitorectomies of little girls; gang-rapes of women who either do not wear the proper Islamic garb or who are an affront by simply being Infidels; violent and hateful anti-Semitism; fascistic censorship of expression; fascistic threats of death to those who leave Islam; and much more.

IRA terrorism: part of a wider culture that contains far less pathological savagery than does Islam, and in fact is relatively normal and healthy by comparison.
